## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### AutoTrader.ca & AutoHebdo Car Listings Scraper

***

Scrape car listings from **AutoTrader.ca** (English, all of Canada) and **AutoHebdo.net** (French, Quebec) with one actor. Provide any search URL from either site with your location, make/model, price, year or mileage filters applied and get every listing as structured data: year, make, model, trim, price, mileage, condition, transmission, fuel, colour, location, dealer and photos. Turn on `detailedInfo` to add body type, drivetrain, interior colour, doors/seats, features, stock number, Carfax link, VIN (when the Carfax link exposes it) and the posting date.

}
```
Without `detailedInfo`, `bodyType`, `drivetrain`, `interiorColor`, `numberOfDoors`, `numberOfSeats`, `stockNumber`, `vin`, `carfaxUrl` and `postedAt` are `null` and `features` is empty; every other field (including the full description, price, mileage, colour, dealer name and phone) comes from the search results page. `price` and `mileageKm` are numbers (`currency` is always `CAD`), `condition` is `used` or `new`, `sellerType` is `dealer` or `private`. Text values such as `transmission`, `fuelType`, `bodyType` and `exteriorColor` are in the language of the site you scrape (`Automatique`, `Essence`, `VUS`, `Noir` on autohebdo.net). `vin` is filled only when the dealer's Carfax link carries it.
#### ⚙️ **Configuration**
| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `url` | String | *(required)* | An autotrader.ca or autohebdo.net search URL, e.g. `https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/on/toronto/` or `https://www.autohebdo.net/autos/toyota/rav4/qc/montreal/`. A single listing URL (`…/offers/…` or `…/annonces/…`) returns that one listing with details. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `100` | Maximum number of listings to return (0 = all results of the search, 100 per page). The sites serve at most 4,000 listings per search; narrow the filters to get more. Starts from `?page=` if the URL has one. |
| `detailedInfo` | Boolean | `false` | Visit each listing's page for body type, drivetrain, colours, doors/seats, features, stock number, Carfax link, VIN and posting date (one extra request per listing). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings. Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |
##### Example Input
```json
{
  "url": "https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/reg_on/cit_toronto?priceto=20000&sort=age&desc=1",
  "maxItems": 500,
  "detailedInfo": true
}
```
##### Supported URLs
Both sites share the same search engine, so the same URL shapes work on each (`/cars/…` on autotrader.ca, `/autos/…` on autohebdo.net):
- Location pages: `https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/on/toronto/`, `https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/reg_qc`, `https://www.autohebdo.net/autos/qc/montreal/`
- Make / model pages: `https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/toyota/rav4/on/toronto/`, `https://www.autohebdo.net/autos/honda/civic/qc/laval/`
- Canonical search URLs with filters as the site writes them in the address bar: `https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/reg_on/cit_toronto?priceto=20000&fregfrom=2019&sort=age&desc=1`
The short location/make paths redirect to the canonical form; the actor follows the redirect and re-applies any query filters the redirect dropped, so pasting `https://www.autotrader.ca/cars/on/toronto/?priceto=20000` also works.
##### Getting your search URL
1. Open [autotrader.ca](https://www.autotrader.ca/) or [autohebdo.net](https://www.autohebdo.net/) and search with your location, make/model and filters
2. Copy the full URL from your browser address bar
3. Paste it as the `url` input
#### **Is it legal to scrape AutoTrader.ca / AutoHebdo data?**
It is legal to scrape publicly available data such as prices, vehicle specifications and listing details. Results may contain personal data (e.g. seller names and phone numbers); scrape personal data only with a legitimate reason. Personal data is protected by PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25 and other regulations — consult your legal advisor if unsure.
# Actor input Schema
## `url` (type: `string`):
Location, make/model, price, year, mileage and sort filters chosen on the site are carried over. A single listing URL (…/offers/… or …/annonces/…) returns that one listing with details.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
