## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

Without `detailedInfo`, `descriptionText`, `validThrough` and `applyType` are `null`, `skills` is empty and `applyUrl` points to the job page; every other field comes from the search results. Remote-only jobs have `location` set to `Remote`. `salary` is the text the employer posted (a range such as `USD 120,000.00 - 150,000.00 per year`, or `Depends on Experience`).

#### ⚙️ **Configuration**

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `url` | String | *(required)* | Dice search URL, e.g. `https://www.dice.com/jobs?q=python&location=New+York%2C+NY%2C+USA&radius=30`. A single job URL (`…/job-detail/{id}`) returns that one job with details. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `0` | Maximum number of jobs to return (0 = all results of the search, 100 per page). Starts from `?page=` if the URL has one. |
| `detailedInfo` | Boolean | `false` | Fetch each job's page for the full description, skills, expiry date and apply link (one extra request per job). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings. Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |

##### Example Input

```json
{
  "url": "https://www.dice.com/jobs?q=data+engineer&filters.workplaceTypes=Remote&filters.postedDate=SEVEN",
  "maxItems": 200,
  "detailedInfo": true
}
```

##### Supported URLs

Keywords and location are read from `?q=` and `?location=` (plus the `latitude`, `longitude`, `locationPrecision`, `countryCode`, `adminDistrictCode`, `radius` and `radiusUnit` values the site adds when you pick a location suggestion). Every filter the site puts in the URL is forwarded as-is: `filters.workplaceTypes` (Remote, Hybrid, On-Site), `filters.postedDate` (ONE, THREE, SEVEN), `filters.employmentType`, `filters.employerType`, `filters.easyApply`, `filters.willingToSponsor`, `filters.clientBrandNameFilter`. Legacy paths such as `/jobs/q-python-l-New_York,_NY-jobs` are mapped too. A keyword-only search defaults to the United States, like the site.

##### Getting your search URL

1. Open [dice.com/jobs](https://www.dice.com/jobs) and search with your keywords, location and filters
2. Copy the full URL from your browser address bar
3. Paste it as the `url` input

#### **Is it legal to scrape Dice data?**

It is legal to scrape publicly available job data such as titles, companies, locations and descriptions. Results may contain personal data (e.g. recruiter names and phone numbers inside descriptions); scrape personal data only with a legitimate reason. Consult your legal advisor if unsure.

# Actor input Schema

## `url` (type: `string`):

A dice.com search results URL with your keywords, location and filters applied, e.g. https://www.dice.com/jobs?q=python\&location=New+York%2C+NY%2C+USA\&radius=30.
