## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Eluta.ca Jobs Scraper

***

Canadian Job Listings. Provide any Eluta.ca search URL (keywords + city/province) and get structured job data across result pages: title, employer, location, salary range (with parsed min/max), posting age, description snippet, the Eluta job page and the apply redirect to the employer's site. Turn on `detailedInfo` to also get the full description, employment type, industry, exact posting datetime and closing date from each Eluta job page.

Eluta.ca is the job search engine of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project and indexes postings directly from employer career sites, so it covers employers that never post on job boards.

#### **📋 Example Output**

Record from a run with `detailedInfo: true` on `https://www.eluta.ca/search?q=data+analyst&l=Toronto%2C+ON` (without `detailedInfo`, the detail-only fields `salaryUnit`, `employmentType`, `industry`, `validThrough` and `description` are `null` and `postedAt` is an approximate date derived from `postedAgo`):

```json
{
  "company": "Adastra Corporation",
  "location": "Markham, ON",
  "description": "Adastra is seeking a Data Product Analyst (Data Science) to serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders, data science and analytics teams, and data management groups. This role combines strong data analysis and data science capabilities with core business analysis skills to ensure that data is effectively leveraged to inform strategic decision making, improve processes, and influence solution design. You will frame business problems as analytical and modeling questions, apply statistical and machine learning methods to answer them, and translate the results into clear, actionable recommendations.   "scrapedAt": "2026-10-28T20:01:46.718Z"
```

`salary` is filled only when the employer states a range (about half of the postings, e.g. `"$50,000 - $90,000"` with `salaryMin` 50000 and `salaryMax` 90000). `applyUrl` is Eluta's redirect that opens the original posting on the employer's own site.

#### ⚙️ **Configuration**

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `url` | String | *(required)* | Eluta.ca search URL, e.g. `https://www.eluta.ca/search?q=data+analyst&l=Toronto%2C+ON`. A `&pg=N` parameter is honoured as the starting page. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `100` | Stop after this many jobs (10 per result page, pages are fetched until the limit or the last page). 0 = no limit. |
| `detailedInfo` | Boolean | `false` | Visit each Eluta job page for the full description, employment type, industry, exact posting datetime and closing date. One extra request per job. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings; switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |

Eluta rate-limits IPs that send many requests in a short time (it redirects to a "User Verification" page). The scraper fetches one page at a time with a short delay, detects that page and retries with a fresh proxy session, so keep `maxItems` reasonable and avoid running several large jobs in parallel from one proxy group.

##### Example Input

```json
{
  "url": "https://www.eluta.ca/search?q=data+analyst&l=Toronto%2C+ON",
  "maxItems": 100,
  "detailedInfo": false
}
```

##### Getting your search URL

1. Open eluta.ca and search for a job title or keywords and a city or province
2. Optionally refine the results (sort order, employer, distance …)
3. Copy the full URL from your browser address bar and paste it as the `url` input

#### **Is it legal to scrape Eluta.ca data?**

It is legal to scrape publicly available data such as job titles, employers, salaries and descriptions. Results may contain personal data (e.g. names of contacts inside a posting); scrape personal data only with a legitimate reason. Personal data is protected by PIPEDA and other regulations — consult your legal advisor if unsure. Respect Eluta's terms of service and keep request volumes modest.
