## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Google Play Reviews Scraper

***

Scrape **user reviews of any Android app** from Google Play. Provide the app's Play Store URL (or its package id) — the Actor fetches the reviews page by page, exactly as the Play web app does, and returns each review as structured data: score, text, user name, app version, date, thumbs-up count and the developer's reply. Choose the language, country and sort order (newest, rating or most helpful). No browser is used, so runs are fast and cheap.

#### **📋 Example Output**

```json
{
  "id": "4b6147af-935d-49af-acc4-9c8285ede340",
  "appId": "com.spotify.music",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "developer": "Spotify AB",
  "userName": "Abu Sayem",
  "text": "Hey, I understand that it needs advertisements to keep itself running and stuff. But genuinely, how much ads do you guys need to run? I'm not even lying but today, I got 6 consecutive song-ad-song plays. This pissed me off so bad. Like, I understand 3 songs+1 ad. But what the hell is this?!",
  "score": 1,
  "thumbsUp": 0,
  "version": "9.1.92.3058",
  "date": "2026-10-22T19:51:41.467Z",
  "replyText": "Hi. Thanks for bringing this up. We'll pass this on to our ads team. If you're seeing more ads than usual, can you try a quick reinstall? If that doesn't help, reach out to our Customer Service in support.spotify.com and search \"Contact us\". They'll help you report this.",
  "replyDate": "2026-10-22T20:22:28.577Z",
  "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music&reviewId=4b6147af-935d-49af-acc4-9c8285ede340",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-23T20:04:33.466Z"
}
```

`replyText` and `replyDate` are `null` when the developer has not answered; `version` is `null` when Google does not report it for a review.

#### ⚙️ **Configuration**

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `appUrl` | String | *(required)* | Google Play app URL, e.g. `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music`, or the package id alone (`com.spotify.music`). |
| `lang` | String | `en` | Language of the reviews (Play's `hl`), e.g. `de`, `fr`, `es`, `pt-BR`, `ja`. |
| `country` | String | `us` | Two-letter country (Play's `gl`), e.g. `gb`, `de`, `in`, `br`. |
| `sort` | String | `newest` | `newest`, `rating` or `helpfulness`. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `0` | Max reviews to return (0 = all available; the Actor follows Play's pagination until it runs out). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings. Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |

##### Example Input

```json
{
  "appUrl": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music",
  "lang": "en",
  "country": "us",
  "sort": "newest",
  "maxItems": 1000
}
```

##### Getting the app URL

1. Open the app's page on Google Play (`play.google.com/store/apps/details?id={package}`)
2. Copy the full URL from your browser (or just the `id=` value)
3. Paste it as the `appUrl` input

Google Play returns reviews in pages of 150. Popular apps have millions of reviews, so set `maxItems` to what you actually need; `0` keeps paging until Play stops returning a continuation token.
