## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Remote Jobs Aggregator

***

Collect **remote job listings from five public job boards in one run** — Remote OK, We Work Remotely, Remotive, Jobicy and Himalayas — and get them back in a single unified format: title, company, location, remote region, salary, employment type, tags, posting date, full plain-text description and apply URL. Jobs that appear on several boards are returned once. Optionally filter everything by keyword.

#### **📋 Example Output**

```json
{
  "id": "himalayas-data-platform-architect-1149275416",
  "url": "https://himalayas.app/companies/bright-vision-technologies/jobs/data-platform-architect-1149275416",
  "title": "Data Platform Architect",
  "company": "Bright Vision Technologies",
  "location": "United States",
  "remoteRegion": "USA",
  "salary": "USD 100,000 – 175,000 per year",
  "employmentType": "Full-time",
  "tags": "Developer, Data Platform Architect, Data Architect, Cloud Data Architect, Data Engineering and Architecture, Enterprise Data Architect, Cloud Data Platform Architect, Data Infrastructure Architect, Senior",
  "postedAt": "2026-10-23T18:14:40.000Z",
  "descriptionText": "Data Platform Architect – Remote Bright Vision Technologies is a technology consulting and software development company delivering cloud, AI, data, and enterprise solutions across the United States. This is a fantastic o…",
  "applyUrl": "https://himalayas.app/companies/bright-vision-technologies/jobs/data-platform-architect-1149275416?utm_source=api",
  "source": "himalayas",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-23T20:09:35.629Z"
}
```

`location` is the text the board shows (e.g. `Anywhere in the World`, `USA Only`, `United States`); `remoteRegion` is a coarse bucket derived from it by keyword (Worldwide, USA, Canada, Latin America, UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Oceania — several joined with commas) and is `null` when the text names no region. `salary` and `employmentType` are `null` when the board does not publish them (Remote OK never states an employment type; We Work Remotely never states a salary). `id` is the board slug plus the board's own job ID, so it is unique across sources.

#### ⚙️ **Configuration**

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|-----------|------|---------|-------------|
| `search` | String | *(none)* | Optional keyword(s), e.g. `python` or `product manager`. Every word must appear in the job's title, company, tags, location or description. Also passed to the boards with server-side search (Remotive, Jobicy; a single word is used as a Remote OK tag). |
| `sources` | Array | all five | Which boards to collect from: `remoteok`, `weworkremotely`, `remotive`, `jobicy`, `himalayas`. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `0` | Max jobs to return across all boards (0 = everything each board exposes, see below). Results are interleaved board by board, so a small limit still mixes all of them. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Apify Proxy (auto) | Proxy settings. Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty. |

##### Example Input

```json
{
  "search": "python",
  "sources": ["remoteok", "weworkremotely", "remotive", "jobicy", "himalayas"],
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

##### What each source provides

| Source | Data used | Jobs per run (`maxItems` = 0) | Server-side search |
|--------|-----------|-------------------------------|--------------------|
| Remote OK | `remoteok.com/api` JSON feed | the ~100 most recent jobs (the ~100 most recent with that tag when `search` is one word) | one-word tag |
| We Work Remotely | `remote-jobs.rss` feed | the ~100 most recent jobs | no (filtered here) |
| Remotive | `remotive.com/api/remote-jobs` | the public feed (currently a small sample of the board) | `search` |
| Jobicy | `jobicy.com/api/v2/remote-jobs` | jobs published in the last 7 days, up to 1,000 | `tag` (title + description) |
| Himalayas | `himalayas.app/jobs/api` | the 1,000 newest jobs | no (filtered here) |

Duplicates are detected across boards by normalised company + title (and by URL), keeping the first copy in the order above.

##### Attribution

The boards publish these feeds on the condition that you credit them: **Remote OK** requires a visible link back to the job URL on remoteok.com (a follow link, not `nofollow`) and a mention of Remote OK as the source wherever you republish its listings, and does not allow use of its logo. **Remotive** and **Jobicy** likewise ask that you link to the original listing and name them as the source, and Remotive forbids reposting its jobs to third-party job boards. Every record carries `source` and `url` so you can comply.

#### 💬 **Support and Feedback**

Reach out via Apify support channels or leave feedback on the Actor's page.

#### **Is it legal to scrape remote job data?**

It is legal to collect publicly available job data such as titles, companies, locations and descriptions from public feeds and APIs; respect each board's attribution terms above. Results may include personal data (e.g. contact names in descriptions); scrape personal data only with a legitimate reason. Consult your legal advisor if unsure.

# Actor input Schema

## `search` (type: `string`):

Optional keyword(s), e.g. "python", "product manager" or "customer support". Every word must appear in the job's title, company, tags, location or description. Passed to the boards that support server-side search (Remotive, Jobicy, Remote OK tags) and applied to the others. Leave empty for all recent remote jobs.

## `sources` (type: `array`):

Which job boards to collect from. All five by default.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of jobs to return across all sources (0 = everything each board exposes: about 100 each from Remote OK and We Work Remotely, Remotive's public sample, up to 1,000 from Jobicy and the 1,000 newest from Himalayas). Results are interleaved across boards so a small limit still mixes all of them.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. Defaults to Apify Proxy (auto). Switch to RESIDENTIAL only if results are empty.

## Actor input object example

```json
  "sources": [
    "remoteok",
