## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Hotels Prices Scraper: Monitor & Compare

Get hotel prices from **Google Hotels** for any city, area or search phrase and any check-in date: total stay price, price per night, taxes and fees, total price, star class, guest rating, review count, coordinates, website and a direct Google Hotels link.

Run it once for a snapshot, spread it over several check-in days for a **price calendar**, or schedule it in **monitor mode** to receive only new hotels and price changes.

### What can you use it for?

- **Revenue management** — track the rates of competing hotels in your city every day.
- **Travel and deal sites** — find the cheapest well-rated hotels for a date range.
- **Market research** — compare price levels, stars and ratings across cities.
- **Price alerts** — get notified (via Apify integrations, e.g. Slack, email, webhooks) when a hotel drops its price.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **locations**, e.g. `Gent`, `Amsterdam` or `Hotels near Antwerp Zoo`.
2. Optionally pick a **check-in date** (empty = 14 days from today) and the number of **nights**.
3. Want a price calendar? Set **Extra check-in days** to e.g. `6` for a full week.
4. Choose **Snapshot** (all hotels) or **Monitor** (only changes since last run) and press **Start**.

### Input example

```json
{
  "locations": ["Gent", "Amsterdam"],
  "checkIn": "2026-12-04",
  "nights": 2,
  "extraDays": 0,
  "currency": "EUR",
  "mode": "snapshot",
  "minRating": "4.0"
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "location": "Gent",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-25T09:00:00+00:00"
}
```

In monitor mode each row also has `changeType` (`NEW`, `PRICE_UP`, `PRICE_DOWN`), and for price changes `previousPrice` and `priceChangePercent`.

Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or connect them to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or your own API.

### Monitor mode

Set **Mode** to *Monitor* and give the watch list a **Monitor name**. The first run returns every hotel as `NEW`. Every later run with the same name returns only hotels that are new or whose price changed by more than **Minimum price change (%)**. Schedule it daily under *Schedules* and you have a price tracker. Google's top 20 shifts slightly between searches, so the first runs also show a few hotels as `NEW`; this settles down because every hotel seen once is remembered. Want price changes only? Turn off **Report new hotels**. Price changes below 2 % are ignored by default. Leave the check-in date empty in schedules so the search date moves along (always 14 days ahead).

### Pricing

You pay per hotel row that has a price (event `hotel-price`). Hotels without an available price, failed searches and searches that Google blocks are **not charged**. Monitor mode only charges for the changes it returns, so daily tracking stays cheap. Set a *maximum cost per run* in the run options and the actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Good to know

- **About 18–20 hotels per search** — the first results page that Google shows. For more coverage, add more specific searches (e.g. `Hotels in Gent city centre`, `Hotels near Gent-Sint-Pieters`).
- **`price` is the total for the whole stay** (all nights, excl. taxes); `priceWithTaxes` includes taxes and fees; `pricePerNight` divides by the number of nights.
- **Prices are for Google's default occupancy (2 adults)** and are the lowest price Google shows; the booking site may differ slightly.
- **Rank** is the position in Google's list for that search.
- If Google does not apply the requested date, that search is skipped and not charged (shown in the run's `OUTPUT` summary).
- Maximum 300 searches per run (locations × check-in days).
- The actor reads public Google Hotels pages only: no login, no cookies, no captcha solving. When Google asks for a captcha or rate-limits, the run stops politely instead of forcing through.

### FAQ

**Which currencies and countries work?** Any ISO currency code (EUR, USD, GBP, …) and any two-letter country code for the Google search.

**Can I search a specific hotel?** Use a precise phrase such as `Hotels near Korenmarkt Gent`; the hotel usually appears in the results.

**Why are some prices empty?** Google shows no rate for that hotel and date (often sold out). Those rows are free.

**Is this legal?** The actor collects publicly visible business information (hotel listings and prices), no personal data. Check that your use complies with the terms and laws that apply to you.

### Support

Found a problem or need an extra field? Open an issue on the actor's *Issues* tab and include the run ID.

# Actor input Schema

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Cities, areas or free-text searches, one per line. 'Gent' becomes 'hotels in Gent'; text that starts with 'hotels' (e.g. 'Hotels near Antwerp Zoo') is used as-is.

## `checkIn` (type: `string`):

First check-in date (YYYY-MM-DD). Leave empty for 14 days from today, which keeps scheduled runs always in the future.

## `nights` (type: `integer`):

Length of stay in nights (1–30).

## `extraDays` (type: `integer`):

Also search the following days. 6 = a full week of check-in dates per location (7 searches each). Use this to build a price calendar.

## `currency` (type: `string`):

ISO currency code for the prices, e.g. EUR, USD, GBP.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code Google uses for the search, e.g. be, nl, de, us.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language of hotel texts, e.g. en, nl, fr, de.

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Snapshot returns every hotel. Monitor remembers prices between runs and returns only new hotels and price changes — ideal for a daily schedule.

## `stateName` (type: `string`):

Monitor mode only. Runs with the same name share their price memory. Use a different name per watch list.

## `priceChangePercent` (type: `integer`):

Monitor mode only. Ignore price changes smaller than this percentage (default 2 % filters out small fluctuations). 0 reports every change.

## `includeNewHotels` (type: `boolean`):

Monitor mode only. Also return hotels this monitor has not seen before. Google's top 20 shifts a little between searches, so the first few runs show some NEW hotels; turn this off to receive price changes only.

## `maxHotelsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Google shows about 18–20 hotels on the first results page; this caps how many of them are kept.

## `minRating` (type: `string`):

Only keep hotels with at least this Google guest rating. Leave empty for any rating.

## `minHotelClass` (type: `integer`):

Only keep hotels with at least this many stars. 0 = any.

## `maxPrice` (type: `integer`):

Only keep hotels at or below this price (in the chosen currency). 0 = no limit.

## `allFields` (type: `string`):

Every field per hotel, including coordinates, website, description and rating distribution.

## `summary` (type: `string`):
