## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Top Charts & Search Scraper - All Countries

**Get Apple App Store top charts, keyword search rankings and full app metadata for all 155 countries in one run.** Top Free, Top Paid and Top Grossing for iPhone and iPad, New Apps, every category and game subcategory, plus a rank tracker that keeps only your apps.

✅ All 155 storefronts in one run (type `ALL`)   ✅ Every chart × every category, including game subgenres   ✅ Keyword search rank per country (ASO)   ✅ Rank-tracking mode: pay only for your apps' positions   ✅ Optional ratings, rating count, version, size and languages on every chart row   ✅ Official Apple feeds, no proxy, no login: fast and cheap ($0.50 per 1,000 rows)

### What can you use it for?

- **App rank tracking**: where do your apps (and competitors') sit in Top Free / Top Grossing in each country and category, every day
- **ASO keyword research**: which apps rank for "habit tracker" in the US, UK, Germany and Japan, with ratings and rating counts
- **Market research**: what is trending in Games or Finance across 155 countries, which developers dominate, which new apps are breaking in
- **Investor and analyst dashboards**: top-grossing charts by country as a proxy for app revenue share
- **Lead generation for app agencies and SDK vendors**: developer names, bundle IDs and websites for every top app in a niche
- **App metadata lookups**: price, rating, version, size and release notes of any app in every storefront (local prices and local ratings differ per country)

### How to use it

1. Pick **Top charts** (e.g. Top Free iPhone, Top Grossing iPhone) and optional **Categories** (`games`, `finance`, `puzzle games` or Apple genre IDs like `6014`). Leave categories empty for the overall chart, or add `all` next to categories to get both.
2. Add **Countries** (`us`, `gb`, `de`...) or `ALL` for every storefront.
3. Optional: add **Search keywords** to get keyword rankings, and/or **Apps** (App Store URLs or IDs).
4. With apps added, choose **What to do with these apps**: full metadata per country, *track ranks only* (filter charts and searches to your apps), or both.
5. Click **Start**, then export JSON, CSV or Excel, or use the API. Schedule it daily for rank history.

#### Input example: daily rank tracker

```json
{
  "charts": ["top-free", "top-grossing"],
  "genres": ["all", "productivity"],
  "countries": ["ALL"],
  "searchTerms": ["notes", "to do list"],
  "maxSearchResults": 100,
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion/id1232780281", "1274495053"],
  "appsMode": "trackRanks"
}
```

Only positions held by your two apps are saved and charged. An app missing from the output for a country is not in that top-100 list.

#### Input example: top games with ratings

```json
{
  "charts": ["top-grossing"],
  "genres": ["games", "puzzle games", "strategy games"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "de", "jp", "kr"],
  "chartLimit": 50,
  "enrichChartRows": true
}
```

### Output

Every row has a `type`: `chart`, `search` or `app`.

```json
{
  "type": "chart",
  "country": "US",
  "chart": "top-grossing",
  "chartName": "Top Grossing iPhone",
  "genreId": null,
  "genreName": "All",
  "rank": 1,
  "appId": "6448311069",
  "name": "ChatGPT",
  "developer": "OpenAI OpCo, LLC",
  "developerId": 1684349733,
  "bundleId": "com.openai.chat",
  "price": 0.0,
  "currency": "USD",
  "formattedPrice": "Free",
  "averageRating": 4.83,
  "ratingCount": 11313295,
  "version": "1.2026.272",
  "updatedAt": "2026-10-06T18:07:00Z",
  "primaryGenre": "Productivity",
  "contentRating": "12+",
  "sizeBytes": 271727616,
  "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chatgpt/id6448311069",
  "icon": "https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/.../512x512bb.jpg",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-15T15:57:00+00:00"
}
```

Search rows add `searchTerm` and the keyword `rank`; app rows carry full metadata for each app in each country (local price, local rating and rating count, languages, screenshots, release notes; description optional).

Chart rows without *Add ratings and full metadata* carry name, developer, bundle ID, price, category, release date, URL and icon. Turn the option on for ratings, version, size, languages and more at no extra charge.

### How much does it cost?

**$0.50 per 1,000 rows** ($0.0005 per chart position, search result or app row). No start fee, nothing for empty results, no proxy costs.

**Examples**

- Top Free + Top Grossing, overall chart, top 100, US + UK = 400 rows = **$0.20**
- Top Grossing in 155 countries, top 100 = 15,500 rows = **$7.75**
- Rank tracking 2 apps across 155 countries × 3 charts, where they chart in ~60 lists = 60 rows = **$0.03 a day**
- 10 keywords × 5 countries × 50 results = 2,500 rows = **$1.25**

### Use it via API

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_API_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("olsols4/app-store-search-top-charts").call(run_input={
    "charts": ["top-free"], "genres": ["games"], "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"], "chartLimit": 25})
for row in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(row["country"], row["rank"], row["name"], row["developer"])
```

Connect results to Google Sheets, Slack, Make, Zapier, n8n or a webhook through Apify integrations, and use **Schedules** for daily rank history.

### FAQ

**Where does the data come from?** Apple's own public iTunes RSS chart feeds and iTunes Search/Lookup API, the same data that powers the App Store. Nothing behind a login.

**How deep are the charts?** Apple publishes the top 100 per chart, country and category. Category charts can be shorter in small storefronts.

**Which categories are supported?** All iOS categories (Business, Finance, Games, Health & Fitness, Productivity...) and game subgenres (Action, Puzzle, Strategy, RPG...). Use the name or Apple's numeric genre ID.

**Are Mac charts supported?** Top Free Mac is. Apple no longer publishes paid and grossing Mac feeds.

**Why does a search return fewer results than I asked for?** Apple caps search at 200 results and sometimes returns slightly fewer than the limit. Big search runs across many countries are paced to stay within Apple's rate limit; raise *Search API delay* if you see "Gave up" warnings.

**Can I get reviews too?** Use our sister Actor [App Store Reviews Scraper - All Countries](https://apify.com/olsols4/app-store-reviews-all-countries).

# Actor input Schema

## `charts` (type: `array`):

Which App Store charts to collect. Each chart returns up to 100 apps per country and category.

## `genres` (type: `array`):

Optional. Category names (games, finance, productivity, puzzle games...) or Apple genre IDs (6014). Leave empty for the overall chart. Add 'all' alongside categories to also get the overall chart.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter App Store country codes (us, gb, de, jp...). Add ALL for all 155 storefronts.

## `chartLimit` (type: `integer`):

How many positions to keep from each chart (Apple publishes up to 100).

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Optional. App Store keyword searches, e.g. 'habit tracker'. Results keep Apple's order, so 'rank' is the keyword ranking in each country.

## `maxSearchResults` (type: `integer`):

How many search results to keep per keyword and country (Apple returns up to 200).

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Optional. App Store URLs or numeric app IDs (e.g. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion/id1232780281). Used for metadata lookups and/or rank tracking, see 'What to do with these apps'.

## `appsMode` (type: `string`):

'Track ranks' keeps only chart and search rows for your apps, so you pay only for positions you care about. An app missing from the output is not in that top list.

## `enrichChartRows` (type: `boolean`):

Chart feeds give name, developer, price and category. Turn on to add rating, rating count, version, size, last update, languages and more (one extra lookup per chart). Same price per row.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the full app description text to each row (makes the dataset much larger).

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many chart feeds to fetch at once.

## `searchApiDelaySecs` (type: `number`):

Pause between Apple Search/Lookup API calls. Apple rate-limits this API; raise it if you see 'Gave up' warnings on big search runs.
