## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## NetSuite FX Rates – ECB exchange rates, import-ready

Stop typing exchange rates into NetSuite by hand. This Actor pulls **official European Central Bank (ECB) reference rates** for any date range and returns them exactly the way NetSuite's **Currency Exchange Rates CSV import** expects them – as a downloadable CSV and as JSON rows.

Built by a NetSuite-certified consultant for finance teams, NetSuite admins, and AI agents that need clean FX data.

### What you get

- `netsuite_currency_exchange_rates.csv` with the four columns NetSuite's import needs: **Base Currency, Currency, Effective Date, Exchange Rate**
- The same rows as a dataset (JSON / CSV / Excel) with extra fields: ISO date, market rate, carried-forward flag, source
- Rates in **NetSuite's convention**: *1 unit of foreign currency = X units of base currency*
- Optional weekend/holiday fill so every transaction date has a rate
- Date format matching the importing user's NetSuite preference (MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD)

### Who uses it

- NetSuite admins loading monthly or daily FX tables across subsidiaries
- Accountants doing month-end **currency revaluation** who need auditable ECB rates
- Consultants backfilling historical rates during a NetSuite implementation
- AI agents (via Apify MCP) that need structured exchange rates

### Input

| Field | Description | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `baseCurrency` | Subsidiary base currency (ISO code) | `USD` |
| `targetCurrencies` | Foreign currencies. Empty = all ~30 ECB currencies | `[]` |
| `startDate` / `endDate` | Range in `YYYY-MM-DD` | last 30 days |
| `dateFormat` | Effective Date format for the CSV | `MM/DD/YYYY` |
| `fillWeekends` | Emit every calendar day, carrying the last rate forward | `false` |
| `maxRows` | Safety cap on rows produced | `50000` |

Example:

```json
{
    "baseCurrency": "USD",
    "targetCurrencies": ["EUR", "GBP", "AED", "SAR"],
    "startDate": "2026-10-01",
    "endDate": "2026-10-31",
    "dateFormat": "MM/DD/YYYY",
    "fillWeekends": true
}
```

### Output

Dataset row:

```json
{
    "baseCurrency": "USD",
    "currency": "EUR",
    "effectiveDate": "10/15/2026",
    "isoDate": "2026-10-15",
    "exchangeRate": 1.16279,
    "marketRate": 0.86,
    "source": "ECB via frankfurter.dev",
    "carriedForward": false
}
```

CSV file (key-value store → `netsuite_currency_exchange_rates.csv`):

```
Base Currency,Currency,Effective Date,Exchange Rate
USD,EUR,10/15/2026,1.16279
USD,GBP,10/15/2026,1.33156
```

### How to import into NetSuite

1. Download the CSV from the run's **Storage → Key-value store**.
2. In NetSuite go to **Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records**.
3. Import type **Accounting**, record type **Currency Exchange Rates**.
4. Map Base Currency, Currency, Effective Date and Exchange Rate. Make sure the importing user's date format matches `dateFormat`.
5. Run the import. Rates become effective on the given dates and feed transactions and revaluation.

### Supported currencies

Everything the ECB publishes daily: EUR, USD, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, HKD, INR, SGD, ZAR, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, HUF, RON, BGN, TRY, BRL, MXN, KRW, IDR, MYR, PHP, THB, ILS, NZD, ISK. Currencies not on this list (e.g. AED, SAR, EGP) are skipped with a warning; cross rates for them are coming in a later version.

### Pricing

Pay per event: you are charged a tiny amount **per rate row delivered**. A full year of one currency pair is about 260 rows. Set a maximum cost per run in the Apify Console and the Actor stops at your limit.

### Use from code or AI agents

```bash
curl "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/<your-username>~netsuite-fx-rates/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<APIFY_TOKEN>" \
  -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"baseCurrency":"USD","targetCurrencies":["EUR","GBP"],"startDate":"2026-10-01","endDate":"2026-10-31"}'
```

The Actor also works through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com), so Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP-capable agent can call it directly.

### FAQ

**Are these rates good enough for accounting?** ECB reference rates are published once per business day around 16:00 CET and are widely accepted for bookkeeping and revaluation. Check your company's policy.

**Why is the rate inverted compared to Google?** NetSuite stores *how many base-currency units one foreign unit buys*. Google shows the opposite. Both values are in the output (`exchangeRate` and `marketRate`).

**Can I schedule it?** Yes – add an Apify Schedule (e.g. every weekday at 18:00) and connect it to a webhook or your own script that runs the NetSuite CSV import or a SuiteScript RESTlet.

# Actor input Schema

## `baseCurrency` (type: `string`):

Your NetSuite subsidiary's base currency (3-letter ISO code). Rates are expressed as: 1 unit of foreign currency = X units of base currency, which is NetSuite's convention.

## `targetCurrencies` (type: `array`):

ISO codes of the foreign currencies you need rates for. Leave empty to get all ~30 currencies the ECB publishes (EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, INR, SGD, ZAR, ...).

## `startDate` (type: `string`):

First effective date. Defaults to 30 days ago.

## `endDate` (type: `string`):

Last effective date. Defaults to today.

## `dateFormat` (type: `string`):

Must match the date format of the NetSuite user who will run the CSV import (Home > Set Preferences).

## `fillWeekends` (type: `boolean`):

ECB publishes rates on business days only. Enable to emit a row for every calendar day, carrying the last published rate forward (so every transaction date has a rate).

## `maxRows` (type: `integer`):

Safety cap on the number of rate rows produced (and charged).
