## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### What can I get

- 🔍 **Search results** — any keyword, with brand, dietary, allergen & special filters
- 🗂️ **Whole categories & brands** — every product in a category, subcategory or brand
- 🏷️ **Specials** — all specials, half price, multi-buy or online only
- 🧾 **Full details** — barcode (GTIN), ingredients, allergens, nutrition, images, country of origin
- 🏬 **Per-store data** — prices, stock and aisle of the Coles store you choose

### Why Coles Scraper

Most other Coles scrapers fail you in one of four ways:

- 🗄️ **Inaccurate, cached, stale data** — last week's specials are useless
- 🧩 **Low-detail data** — a name and a price, never the full picture
- 💸 **Pay more to get the same data** — up to $10 per 1,000 products elsewhere
- 🪦 **Works today, breaks next month** — nobody maintains it

Coles Scraper gets you fresh, detailed data, is priced honestly, and actively maintained.

### FAQs

#### Which store are the prices and stock for?

Coles prices, stock and aisle locations are per store. By default you get store `584` (Coles Burwood East, VIC). Put another store ID or a coles.com.au store URL in **Coles Store** to get that store's data. Every row carries its `store_id`.

#### How many products can one search or category return?

Coles serves at most 104 pages of 48 products per listing, so a single search, category, brand or specials feed returns up to about 5,000 products (4,992). To go beyond that, split the job — scrape subcategories instead of a whole department, or run the same category with different sort orders or brand filters.

#### Will I be charged twice for the same product?

No. A product that appears in several of your inputs, or as a sponsored placement and again as a regular result, is scraped and billed once per run.

#### What does "Scrape Full Product Details" add?

Barcode (GTIN), long description, image gallery, ingredients, allergens, the nutrition panel, dietary claims, country of origin, storage and usage instructions, and the other varieties and sizes of the product. It adds $0.002 per product. If the full details of a product can't be read, you keep the standard row and pay only the standard rate.

#### Is the aisle always filled in?

No. `aisle`, `aisle_side` and `shelf` are only present when Coles shows an in-store location for the product at the selected store; otherwise they are empty.

#### Can I export to CSV or Excel?

Yes. Every row is flat, so the dataset exports to JSON, CSV, Excel or XML with one column per value.

#### Is this an official Coles product?

No. Coles Scraper is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Coles Group.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search on Coles — each is searched separately. Rows carry a `query` field so you can tell keywords apart. Leave empty to scrape only categories, brands, specials or URLs.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Categories or subcategories to scrape. Each entry is a slug path (dairy-eggs-fridge/milk), a category ID (8881800) or a coles.com.au browse URL (https://www.coles.com.au/browse/dairy-eggs-fridge/milk). Rows carry a `category_input` field.

## `brands` (type: `array`):

Brands to scrape in full — every product of the brand. Each entry is a brand name (Cadbury), a brand ID (2146288555) or a coles.com.au brand URL (https://www.coles.com.au/brands/cadbury-2146288555). Rows carry a `brand_input` field.

## `specials` (type: `string`):

Also scrape the Coles specials listing of this type — every product currently on special. Rows carry a `specials_input` field.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Product, browse, on-special, search and/or brand page URLs — you can mix them. Rows carry an `input_url` field. Product pages are always scraped with full details (billed at the detailed-product rate).

## `specialType` (type: `string`):

Only include products on this kind of special. Leave on Any product to include products that are not on special.

## `filterBrands` (type: `array`):

Only include products of these brands — brand names (case-insensitive) or brand IDs, up to 10. Example: Cadbury, Lindt. Not applied to the Brands input above, which already lists a single brand.

## `dietary` (type: `array`):

Only include products with these dietary labels, by name or ID, up to 10. Example: Vegan, Organic.

## `allergens` (type: `array`):

Only include products with these allergen labels, by name or ID, up to 10. Example: Gluten Free, Nut Free.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of results. Default keeps each listing's own order: relevance for searches, best seller for categories and brands, recommended for specials.

## `store` (type: `string`):

Coles supermarket whose prices, stock and aisle locations you want: a store ID (4166) or a coles.com.au store URL (https://www.coles.com.au/find-stores/coles/nsw/marrickville-4166). Default: 584 (Coles Burwood East, VIC).

## `maxResultsPerInput` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products to scrape per keyword, category, brand, specials feed or listing URL. Use this to control your cost (1,000 products ≈ $1). Coles serves at most 4,992 products per listing (104 pages of 48). Ignored for product page URLs.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, every product is also scraped in full — barcode (GTIN), long description, image gallery, ingredients, allergens, nutrition panel, dietary claims, country of origin, storage and usage instructions, and other varieties and sizes. Still one dataset row per product, billed at the detailed-product rate (1,000 detailed products ≈ $3 vs $1 standard). Runs take longer because each product page is fetched individually.
