## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SmartRecruiters Jobs Scraper: open roles from company job boards

**$1 per 1,000 jobs. Platform usage included. No rental, no minimum.**

[Open it in Apify Console](https://console.apify.com/actors/XJTMIPjR91CXKJHS2/input)

Paste the company identifier or job board link of any company that hires through SmartRecruiters, and get its open roles as clean rows: title, location with remote and hybrid flags, department and function, job type, experience level, link to the job, date and, if you want it, the full description. Filter by keyword, location and department. It reads SmartRecruiters' public postings API, so there is no login and no API key.

### What it costs

| Jobs | Price |
|---|---|
| 1,000 | $1.00 |
| 10,000 | $10.00 |
| 100,000 | $100.00 |

Plus $0.001 per run. One flat price, platform usage included, so there is no separate compute or proxy bill. A daily run that collects 300 jobs costs about $0.30, or about $9 a month.

### Why use it

- **Large boards, quickly.** A company is read 100 postings at a time, and the later pages are fetched side by side. A board with thousands of postings still starts delivering within seconds.
- **Identifiers or links.** Paste `BoschGroup`, or `https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/BoschGroup`, or a link to a single job. The actor finds the identifier itself.
- **Filters before you pay.** Keyword in the title, location, department and a per company limit are applied first, so you are charged only for the jobs you keep.
- **Structured fields.** Country code, remote and hybrid flags, industry, function, job type, experience level and the company's own custom fields come as separate fields, not as one block of text.

### Quick start

1. Open the actor, add one or more company identifiers or links, press **Start**.
2. Or paste this input:

```json
{ "companies": ["BoschGroup", "ServiceNow"], "keyword": "engineer", "maxJobsPerCompany": 50, "maxItems": 100 }
```

3. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

### Use it from code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/one_dollar_store~smartrecruiters-jobs-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"companies": ["BoschGroup", "ServiceNow"], "keyword": "engineer", "maxItems": 50}'
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("one_dollar_store/smartrecruiters-jobs-scraper").call(
    run_input={"companies": ["BoschGroup", "ServiceNow"], "keyword": "engineer", "maxItems": 50}
)
for job in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(job["company"], job["title"], job["location"], job["url"])
```

### Use it from an AI assistant

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants can call this actor through Apify's MCP server. Add it with this server address:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=one_dollar_store/smartrecruiters-jobs-scraper
```

Then ask, for example: "List the open software engineer jobs at ServiceNow on SmartRecruiters in the United States, with links."

### Switching from another SmartRecruiters actor

Most SmartRecruiters actors take a list of companies and a result limit. Here the list is `companies` (identifiers or board links) and the limit is `maxItems`, with `maxJobsPerCompany` to keep one large board from using the whole run. The core fields are `company`, `title`, `location`, `department`, `url`, `postedAt` and `jobId`.

### How to find a company's identifier

The identifier is the first part of the address after `jobs.smartrecruiters.com/`: for `https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/BoschGroup/744000154523570-...` it is `BoschGroup`. Paste the whole address if that is easier. The identifier is often the company name without spaces, but not always (Ubisoft's is `Ubisoft2`).

When a company shows its jobs on its own site, open any job and look at the Apply button for a `smartrecruiters.com/<Name>` link. If the identifier is wrong, or the company does not publish a public feed, the log and the `RUN_SUMMARY` record list it under `notFound`. In our tests four well known companies (Visa, Sanofi, Deloitte and Skechers) returned no public postings under the names we tried.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| `companies` | list of text | none | Company identifiers or board links, one per line. Required. |
| `keyword` | text | none | Keeps jobs whose title contains all of these words, in any order. Not case sensitive. |
| `location` | text | none | Keeps jobs whose city, country or full location contains this text. Several options with a semicolon: `Berlin; Remote`. |
| `department` | text | none | Keeps jobs whose department or function contains this text. Several options with a semicolon. |
| `includeDescription` | true or false | false | Adds the description as plain text and the apply link. Needs one extra request per job, so it is slower. |
| `maxJobsPerCompany` | number | 200 | Most jobs taken from one company, after your filters (up to 5,000). |
| `maxItems` | number | 1000 | Total jobs for the run. Minimum 10. |

Example with filters:

```json
{
  "companies": ["https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/ServiceNow", "Ubisoft2"],
  "keyword": "engineer",
  "location": "United States; Canada",
  "includeDescription": true,
  "maxJobsPerCompany": 25,
  "maxItems": 100
}
```

### Output fields

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `companyToken` | The identifier that was read. |
| `company` | Company name as SmartRecruiters shows it. |
| `jobId` | SmartRecruiters posting id. Stable, good for dropping repeats between runs. |
| `title` | Job title. |
| `refNumber` | The company's own reference number, when set. |
| `location` | Full location text. |
| `city`, `region`, `country` | Location parts. `country` is an upper case country code. |
| `remote`, `hybrid` | True or false, as the company set them. |
| `department` | Department name, when the company fills it in. Many do not. |
| `function` | Job function, such as Engineering or Sales. |
| `industry` | Industry label. |
| `employmentType` | Full-time, part-time and so on. |
| `experienceLevel` | Level label such as Associate or Mid-Senior Level. |
| `language` | Language code of the posting. |
| `postedAt` | When the posting was released, in UTC. |
| `url` | Link to the job on SmartRecruiters. |
| `applyUrl` | Apply link. Only with `includeDescription` on. |
| `details` | The company's custom fields, such as contract type or cost center. Different for every company. |
| `description` | Plain text description, only when `includeDescription` is on. |

### Sample results

Real rows from test runs on 9 October 2026. Descriptions are left out and the `details` field is shortened to its first entries.

### Limits

- Only postings that a company has made public are returned. Internal postings are not visible to the public API.
- A company needs a public SmartRecruiters feed. Some companies, including some large ones, do not appear to publish one. Such a company returns no postings.
- A company is read 100 postings at a time, up to 6,000 postings per company. Filters are applied after reading, so a rare keyword on a very large board still reads many pages first.
- `department` is empty for many companies; `function` is filled more often. A department or function filter checks both.
- `location` is the posting's location text. Use the `remote` and `hybrid` flags in the results to tell remote roles apart.
- `applyUrl` and the description need one extra request per job, so a run with `includeDescription` on takes longer. If a single job fails to load, its row is still delivered without the description.
- `postedAt` is the release date of the posting, so a reposted job can look new.
- Salary, recruiter names and application questions are not included.
- Repeats of the same company and job id are removed before you are charged.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to scrape 10,000 SmartRecruiters jobs?**
$10, plus $0.001 for each run.

**Do I pay for compute or proxy on top?**
No. Platform usage is included in the $1 per 1,000 price. The actor calls SmartRecruiters' public API directly and uses no proxy.

**Where does the data come from?**
From SmartRecruiters' public postings API (api.smartrecruiters.com), the same feed that fills a company's SmartRecruiters careers page. It needs no key and no login.

**How do I find a company's identifier?**
Open a job and look for `jobs.smartrecruiters.com/<Name>` in the address or the Apply link. Pasting the whole link works. See the section above for more.

**How do I find only new jobs every day?**
Schedule a run and keep the `jobId` values you already have. You can also compare `postedAt` with yesterday's date.

**Why did a company give me no rows?**
Either the identifier is wrong or the company has no public feed (the log says "No public postings found" and the run summary lists it under `notFound`), the company has no open jobs, or your filters matched nothing.

**Is it legal?**
The actor reads public data only, with no login. The postings are published by the companies so that anyone can read and apply. How you use the data is up to you: follow the terms of the company and of SmartRecruiters, and the law where you live. Do not use the data to send unwanted messages.

**Is this an official SmartRecruiters product?**
No. It is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by SmartRecruiters.

**Do I need an Apify account?**
Yes. Actors run from an Apify account, and a free account is enough to start: it includes $5 of platform usage every month. You can [sign up here](https://www.apify.com?fpr=ymnoit). This is a referral link and it costs you nothing.

**Is there a limit on the free plan?**
Yes. A run started from a free plan account delivers the first 10 results, then ends with a message and a link to the plans. Any paid plan returns everything you ask for, up to your own limit. The price per result is the same on every plan.

### Changelog

- October 2026: first release.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

One entry per company. Use the SmartRecruiters company identifier (BoschGroup) or paste a link such as https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/BoschGroup or a link to one of its jobs. The identifier is the first part of the address after jobs.smartrecruiters.com/. Entries that are not SmartRecruiters links are skipped and listed in the run summary.

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Optional. Keeps jobs whose title contains all of these words, in any order (not case sensitive). Example: sales manager.

## `location` (type: `string`):

Optional. Keeps jobs whose city, country or full location text contains this text (not case sensitive). Separate several options with a semicolon: Berlin; Remote; United States.

## `department` (type: `string`):

Optional. Keeps jobs whose department or function name contains this text (not case sensitive). Separate several options with a semicolon: Sales; Engineering.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the job description, qualifications and additional information as plain text, and the apply link. This needs one extra request per job, so the run is slower. Off by default.

## `maxJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

The most jobs taken from any one company, after your filters.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

The run stops after this many jobs across all companies. Minimum 10.
