## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Threads Hashtag Scraper: public posts for any hashtag

**$1 per 1,000 posts. Platform usage included. No rental, no minimum.**

Give it one or more hashtags, with or without the # sign. It reads Threads search for each tag, as a logged out visitor, and keeps only the posts that really carry the tag: written as a hashtag, set as the post's Threads topic tag, or used as a word in the text. Each row says which one it was. No login, cookies or API key are needed.

[Open it in Apify Console](https://console.apify.com/actors/o6nlZc1vIqb9cS38g/input)

### How much does Threads Hashtag Scraper cost?

| Posts | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1,000 | $1.00 |
| 10,000 | $10.00 |
| 100,000 | $100.00 |

Plus $0.001 per run. One flat price, platform usage included, so there is no separate compute or proxy bill. You pay only for post rows in the dataset.

A realistic example: reading 20 hashtags every day returns up to about 260 posts a run (our test kept about 13 posts per hashtag), so about $0.26 a run and about $8 a month.

### Why use it

- **Only posts that carry the tag.** Threads answers a tag search with its own mix of posts, some of which never mention the tag. Every post is tested before it is kept, so you do not pay for off topic rows.
- **You can see why a post matched.** `matchedBy` is `hashtag`, `topicTag` or `text`, so you can filter the dataset to posts that write the #tag if you want the strict version.
- **Top, recent or both.** Read the Top list, the Recent list, or both in one run. A post that shows up twice is returned once.
- **Many tags in one run.** Add as many hashtags as you like; the `hashtag` field on each row tells you which one found it.
- **No login.** It reads what a logged out visitor sees. Summaries and diagnostics are never billed.

### How to use Threads Hashtag Scraper

1. Open the actor, type one or more hashtags, press **Start**.
2. Or paste this input:

```json
{ "hashtags": ["coffee", "#yoga"], "searchSort": "top", "maxItems": 50 }
```

3. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

### Use it from code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/one_dollar_store~threads-hashtag-posts-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"hashtags": ["coffee", "yoga"], "searchSort": "both", "maxItems": 50}'
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("one_dollar_store/threads-hashtag-posts-scraper").call(
    run_input={"hashtags": ["coffee", "yoga"], "maxItems": 50}
)
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item["hashtag"], item["matchedBy"], item["likeCount"], item["url"])
```

### Use it from an AI assistant

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants can call this actor through Apify's MCP server. Add it with this server address:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=one_dollar_store/threads-hashtag-posts-scraper
```

Then ask, for example: "Find public Threads posts for the hashtag yoga and list the five with the most likes."

### Switching from another Threads hashtag actor

Most Threads hashtag actors take a list of hashtags and a result limit. Here they are `hashtags` and `maxItems`. The core output fields are `text`, `authorUsername`, `publishedAt`, `likeCount`, `replyCount`, `repostCount`, `hashtag` and `url`.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| `hashtags` | list of text | required | Hashtags to read: `coffee`, `#coffee`, or a tag with a space such as `ai agents`. Each one is read on its own. |
| `searchSort` | `top`, `recent` or `both` | `top` | Which Threads list to read per hashtag. `both` reads Top, then Recent. |
| `maxItems` | number | 100 | The run stops after this many posts in total (minimum 10, maximum 10,000). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | proxy | Datacenter | Datacenter proxy with a new address per request. After two blocked requests in a row it switches to residential for up to 10 requests. Pick the Residential group to use it from the start. Cost is included. |

### How a post is matched to the tag

A post is kept when one of these is true. Case, accents and the # sign are ignored.

1. **`hashtag`**: the post text contains the tag as a hashtag. A tag longer than three letters also finds longer hashtags, so `coffee` finds `#coffeelover` and `#NationalCoffeeDay`.
2. **`topicTag`**: the post's Threads topic tag is the tag or has it as a word, for example "Yoga Threads" for `yoga`.
3. **`text`**: the tag is a word of the post text. A tag of three letters or fewer must match a whole word, so `ai` does not match "said".

Few Threads posts write #tags in their text. In our test most kept posts matched by `text`, a few by `hashtag` or `topicTag`.

### What data does Threads Hashtag Scraper return?

One row per post.

- **Post:** `postId`, `code`, `url`, `text`, `publishedAt` (UTC), `likeCount`, `replyCount`, `repostCount`, `quoteCount`, `mediaType` (text, image, video or carousel), `imageUrls`, `videoUrls`, `linkUrl`, `isReply`, `replyToUsername`, `quotedPostUrl`, `repostOfUrl`, `hashtags` (as written in the text), `mentions`, `topicTag`.
- **Author:** `authorUsername`, `authorName`, `authorId`, `authorVerified`, `authorAvatarUrl`.
- **Match:** `hashtag` (the tag you asked for), `matchedBy`, `searchList` (top or recent), `source` (always `hashtag`).
- **Run:** `scrapedAt`.

Empty fields are left out of a row. A post that matches two of your hashtags is listed once, under the first one that found it.

### Limits

- Threads shows a logged out visitor one page per hashtag and list. In our tests a page held 8 to 26 posts before the tag test (earlier checks of busy keywords gave about 15 to 35), and some of them did not carry the tag and were dropped. Threads offers a logged out visitor no next page of search results, so there is no way to read further without a login. For more rows, add more hashtags or set `searchSort` to `both`. For a profile's posts or free text search, use the [Threads Profile Scraper](https://apify.com/one_dollar_store/threads-profile-posts-scraper) or the [Threads Search Scraper](https://apify.com/one_dollar_store/threads-keyword-search-scraper).
- Threads has no public tag index for a logged out visitor, so this actor reads Threads search for the tag and tests each post itself. It cannot promise to find every post that carries a tag.
- Top results can include older posts. Recent results lean to the last few hours.
- Private profiles and deleted posts are not available.
- Threads' robots.txt asks automated clients not to crawl the site. This actor reads only public pages, as a logged out visitor, at a modest rate (three hashtags at a time, one request per list). You decide for yourself how to use the data.
- One run delivers at most 10,000 posts and lasts up to 10 minutes by default. Raise Timeout under Run options if you list many hashtags.
- A run ends early, and says so in its status line, when several hashtags in a row cannot be read, or when it is about to reach its time limit. You are charged only for the posts delivered.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to scrape 10,000 Threads posts for hashtags?**
$10, plus $0.001 for each run. Because Threads shows a logged out visitor one page per hashtag and list, 10,000 posts takes many hashtags.

**Do I pay for compute or proxy on top?**
No. Platform usage, including the proxy, is included in the $1 per 1,000 price.

**Do I get posts that do not carry the tag?**
No. Posts that do not carry the tag are dropped before they are saved, so they are not charged.

**Do I need a Threads or Instagram account?**
No. The actor only reads public pages that anyone can open without logging in.

**What if Threads refuses a request?**
It tries again from a new proxy address, up to three times. After two blocked requests in a row it switches from the datacenter to the residential proxy for up to 10 requests. If several hashtags in a row fail, the run stops early and says so in the log.

**Is it legal?**
The actor collects only public data that Threads shows to any visitor. Threads' robots.txt asks automated clients not to crawl the site; this actor reads public pages as a logged out visitor at a modest rate, and you decide for yourself how to use the data. Follow the Threads terms of use and the data protection laws that apply to you, such as GDPR or CCPA, especially when you store or process personal data.

**Is this an official Threads product?**
No. It is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or Threads.

**Do I need an Apify account?**
Yes. Actors run from an Apify account, and a free account is enough to start: it includes $5 of platform usage every month. You can [sign up here](https://www.apify.com?fpr=ymnoit). This is a referral link and it costs you nothing.

**Is there a limit on the free plan?**
Yes. A run started from a free plan account delivers the first 10 results, then ends with a message and a link to the plans. Any paid plan returns everything you ask for, up to your own limit. The price per result is the same on every plan.

### Changelog

- 27 October 2026: clearer description and headings, field details for AI tools. Price and output unchanged.
- October 2026: first release.

# Actor input Schema

## `hashtags` (type: `array`):

Hashtags to read, with or without the # sign, for example coffee, #coffee or ai agents. Each hashtag is read on its own. Only posts that really carry the tag are returned.

## `searchSort` (type: `string`):

Which Threads result list to read for each hashtag. Both reads the Top list and then the Recent list; it costs one more page per hashtag and usually adds a few posts. A post found twice is returned once.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

The run stops after this many posts in total. Minimum 10, maximum 10,000. Threads shows a logged out visitor only one page per hashtag and list, so add more hashtags for more rows.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

The default is the Apify datacenter proxy with a new address for every request. If Threads blocks two requests in a row, the run switches to residential proxy for up to 10 requests. Pick the Residential group here to use it from the start. Costs are included in the price.
