## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Threads Profile Scraper: public posts and follower counts

**$1 per 1,000 posts. Platform usage included. No rental, no minimum.**

Give it Threads usernames or profile links. For each public profile it returns the posts the page shows, one row per post, with the profile's follower count, bio, bio links and topic tags on every row. It reads the public page as a logged out visitor, so no login, cookies or API key are needed.

[Open it in Apify Console](https://console.apify.com/actors/1kGetJqqCK4q2Y1X4/input)

### How much does Threads Profile Scraper cost?

| Posts | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1,000 | $1.00 |
| 10,000 | $10.00 |
| 100,000 | $100.00 |

Plus $0.001 per run. One flat price, platform usage included, so there is no separate compute or proxy bill. You pay only for post rows in the dataset.

A realistic example: checking 100 profiles once a week returns up to about 750 posts a run (our tests showed 5 to 10 posts per profile), so about $0.75 a run and about $3 a month.

### Why use it

- **Follower count on every row.** `authorFollowers` sits next to each post, so you can rank or filter posts by the reach of the account without a second lookup.
- **Profile details with the posts.** Bio, bio links, topic tags, verified badge and profile link come with each row when the page shows them.
- **One row per post.** Text, time, likes, replies, reposts, quotes, pictures, videos, shared link and the Threads topic tag.
- **Your choice on replies.** The profile page also shows the owner's replies in their own threads. A switch keeps only posts that are not replies.
- **Clean rows.** No post appears twice in one run. Summaries and diagnostics are never billed.

### How to use Threads Profile Scraper

1. Open the actor, type one or more usernames, press **Start**.
2. Or paste this input:

```json
{ "usernames": ["nasa", "zuck"], "includeReplies": true, "maxItems": 50 }
```

3. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

### Use it from code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/one_dollar_store~threads-profile-posts-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"usernames": ["nasa", "zuck"], "maxItems": 50}'
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("one_dollar_store/threads-profile-posts-scraper").call(
    run_input={"usernames": ["nasa", "zuck"], "maxItems": 50}
)
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item["authorUsername"], item["authorFollowers"], item["likeCount"], item["url"])
```

### Use it from an AI assistant

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants can call this actor through Apify's MCP server. Add it with this server address:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=one_dollar_store/threads-profile-posts-scraper
```

Then ask, for example: "Get the latest public posts from the Threads profiles of nasa and zuck, and tell me how many followers each has."

### Switching from another Threads profile actor

Most Threads profile actors take usernames and a result limit. Here they are `usernames` and `maxItems`. The core output fields are `text`, `authorUsername`, `authorFollowers`, `publishedAt`, `likeCount`, `replyCount`, `repostCount` and `url`.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| `usernames` | list of text | required | Threads usernames or profile links: `nasa`, `@nasa` or `https://www.threads.com/@nasa`. |
| `includeReplies` | true or false | true | Keep the owner's replies that the profile page shows. Turn off to keep only posts that are not replies. |
| `maxItems` | number | 100 | The run stops after this many posts in total (minimum 10, maximum 10,000). |
| `proxyConfiguration` | proxy | Datacenter | Datacenter proxy with a new address per request. After two blocked requests in a row it switches to residential for up to 10 requests. Pick the Residential group to use it from the start. Cost is included. |

### What data does Threads Profile Scraper return?

One row per post.

- **Post:** `postId`, `code`, `url`, `text`, `publishedAt` (UTC), `likeCount`, `replyCount`, `repostCount`, `quoteCount`, `mediaType` (text, image, video or carousel), `imageUrls`, `videoUrls`, `linkUrl`, `isReply`, `replyToUsername`, `quotedPostUrl`, `repostOfUrl`, `hashtags`, `mentions`, `topicTag` (the Threads topic tag above the post, such as "Space Threads").
- **Profile, repeated on every row of that profile:** `authorUsername`, `authorName`, `authorId`, `authorVerified`, `authorAvatarUrl`, `authorFollowers`, `authorBio`, `authorBioLinks`, `authorTopics`, `authorProfileUrl`.
- **Run:** `source` (always `profile`), `scrapedAt`.

Empty fields are left out of a row. Follower counts and like counts are the numbers on the page when it was read.

### Sample results

### Limits

- Threads shows a logged out visitor one page per profile. In our tests that page held 5 posts for one profile and 10 for another, including the owner's replies in their own threads. A keyword page holds about 15 to 35 posts. Older posts need a login, which this actor does not use, and the next page link that Threads gives returns the same posts again. For more rows, add more profiles. To search by words or tags instead, use the [Threads Search Scraper](https://apify.com/one_dollar_store/threads-keyword-search-scraper) or the [Threads Hashtag Scraper](https://apify.com/one_dollar_store/threads-hashtag-posts-scraper).
- A profile that does not exist, is private, or has no public posts gives no rows. Profile details travel on post rows, so a profile without posts returns nothing. The run log names it.
- Private profiles, deleted posts and anything behind a login are not available.
- Threads' robots.txt asks automated clients not to crawl the site. This actor reads only public pages, as a logged out visitor, at a modest rate (three profiles at a time, one request each). You decide for yourself how to use the data.
- One run delivers at most 10,000 posts and lasts up to 10 minutes by default. Raise Timeout under Run options if you list many profiles.
- A run ends early, and says so in its status line, when several profiles in a row cannot be read, or when it is about to reach its time limit. You are charged only for the posts delivered.

### FAQ

**How much does it cost to scrape 10,000 Threads posts?**
$10, plus $0.001 for each run. A logged out profile page shows 5 to 10 posts in our tests, so 10,000 posts takes roughly 1,000 to 2,000 profiles.

**Do I pay for compute or proxy on top?**
No. Platform usage, including the proxy, is included in the $1 per 1,000 price.

**Do I need a Threads or Instagram account?**
No. The actor only reads public pages that anyone can open without logging in.

**Where does the follower count come from?**
From the profile header on the same public page, read at the time of the run. It is repeated on every row of that profile.

**What if Threads refuses a request?**
It tries again from a new proxy address, up to three times. After two blocked requests in a row it switches from the datacenter to the residential proxy for up to 10 requests. If several profiles in a row fail, the run stops early and says so in the log.

**Is it legal?**
The actor collects only public data that Threads shows to any visitor. Threads' robots.txt asks automated clients not to crawl the site; this actor reads public pages as a logged out visitor at a modest rate, and you decide for yourself how to use the data. Follow the Threads terms of use and the data protection laws that apply to you, such as GDPR or CCPA, especially when you store or process personal data.

**Is this an official Threads product?**
No. It is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or Threads.

**Do I need an Apify account?**
Yes. Actors run from an Apify account, and a free account is enough to start: it includes $5 of platform usage every month. You can [sign up here](https://www.apify.com?fpr=ymnoit). This is a referral link and it costs you nothing.

**Is there a limit on the free plan?**
Yes. A run started from a free plan account delivers the first 10 results, then ends with a message and a link to the plans. Any paid plan returns everything you ask for, up to your own limit. The price per result is the same on every plan.

# Actor input Schema

## `usernames` (type: `array`):

Threads usernames or profile links, for example nasa, @nasa or https://www.threads.com/@nasa. Each profile gives the posts its public page shows, with the follower count and bio on every row.

## `includeReplies` (type: `boolean`):

A profile page also shows the owner's replies inside their own threads. Turn this off to keep only posts that are not replies.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

The run stops after this many posts in total. Minimum 10, maximum 10,000. A logged out profile page shows only a handful of posts, so add more profiles for more rows.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

The default is the Apify datacenter proxy with a new address for every request. If Threads blocks two requests in a row, the run switches to residential proxy for up to 10 requests. Pick the Residential group here to use it from the start. Costs are included in the price.
