## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## FMCSA New Trucking Company Leads: Daily USDOT Registrations

Every day, hundreds of new trucking companies register a USDOT number with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This actor gives you those **brand-new carriers as clean, ready-to-call leads**: legal name, owner or officer names, phone, email, address, fleet size, driver count, cargo types, hazmat status, and operating authority. The data comes straight from FMCSA's official daily census file.

New carriers immediately need **insurance, factoring, ELDs, fuel cards, dispatch, compliance and drug-testing services, trucks, trailers, and loads**. Reaching them first wins the deal.

### Who uses this

- Commercial trucking insurance agents
- Freight factoring and equipment-finance companies
- ELD, fuel card, telematics, and TMS vendors
- Dispatch services, freight brokers, and load boards looking for new capacity
- DOT compliance, drug and alcohol consortium, and permit services

### Why this actor

- **Official source**: the FMCSA Motor Carrier Census on data.transportation.gov, refreshed daily. U.S. DOT open data.
- **Filters run on the server**: state, interstate/intrastate, cargo types (30 categories), fleet size, for-hire only, hazmat, active only, must have email, must have phone.
- **Monitor mode**: schedule it daily with `onlyNewSinceLastRun`, and each run returns only carriers you have not received before.
- **Clean output**: formatted phone numbers, lowercase emails, readable labels instead of FMCSA codes, nested addresses, and a SAFER snapshot link for every carrier.
- **Fast**: thousands of carriers in seconds, with automatic paging, retries, and dedupe.
- **Pay per result**: you are charged only for carriers returned.

### Input examples

**New interstate carriers in Texas, Florida, and Georgia with an email (last 7 days):**

```json
{ "daysBack": 7, "states": ["TX", "FL", "GA"], "carrierOperation": ["interstate"], "requireEmail": true }
```

**Reefer and produce haulers with 2+ trucks, for-hire only, last 30 days:**

```json
{ "daysBack": 30, "cargoTypes": ["refrigeratedFood", "freshProduce"], "minPowerUnits": 2, "forHireOnly": true, "requirePhone": true }
```

**Daily feed of every new carrier nationwide (schedule daily):**

```json
{ "daysBack": 3, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": true, "maxResults": 5000 }
```

}
```
Also included: `cellPhone`, `fax`, `businessType`, `buses`, `mcs150Mileage`. `operatingAuthority` lists any MC/FF/MX dockets with their status. Most brand-new carriers have not been granted MC authority yet, which is itself a useful signal.
### Notes
- `addedDate` is the date FMCSA added the carrier to its census (USDOT registration).
- Contact details are what the carrier filed on its MCS-150. Some carriers leave email blank, so use `requireEmail` if you need it.
- If you use phone or email for outreach, you are responsible for complying with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and Do-Not-Call rules.
### Legal
Data is published by the U.S. Department of Transportation / FMCSA as open government data. This actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by FMCSA or USDOT.
