## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple Podcasts Scraper: Podcast Search, Host Contacts & Episodes

Find podcasts on **Apple Podcasts** by topic and enrich each one from its public RSS feed. It is built for **podcast guest booking, sponsorship sales, PR outreach and media research**.

### What you get for each podcast

| Field | Source |
|---|---|
| Title, author, Apple Podcasts URL, genres, artwork, explicit flag | Apple's official iTunes Search API |
| Website, language, description, categories | Podcast RSS feed |
| **Owner name and owner email** | The `itunes:owner` contact the podcaster publishes in their RSS feed for directories |
| Episode count, first and last episode dates | RSS feed |
| **Average days between episodes** and **active in the last 90 days** | Calculated |
| Recent episodes (optional): title, date, duration, episode/season numbers, audio URL, description | RSS feed |

### Use cases

- **Guest booking**: find active shows in your niche and their published contact, then pitch.
- **Sponsorship and ad sales**: build lists of active podcasts by category and publishing frequency.
- **PR agencies**: media lists for clients by topic.
- **Research**: track how many shows cover a topic and how often they publish.

### Example inputs

```json
{ "searchTerms": ["national security", "foreign policy"], "activeOnly": true, "maxItems": 100 }
```

```json
{ "searchTerms": ["real estate investing"], "includeEpisodes": true, "maxEpisodesPerPodcast": 10, "outputEpisodesAsRows": true }
```

### Notes

- Apple returns up to 200 podcasts per search term. Use several related terms for wider coverage.
- Owner email appears only if the podcaster published it in their feed. Use contacts responsibly and follow anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).
- Pay per result.
