## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### Quick reference

- **Returns:** a list of websites that use the technologies you name, one row per website, best-ranked first. Results come from our monthly crawl of the top 300,000 websites, so runs finish in seconds.
- **Input:** `technologies` (required), e.g. `["HubSpot"]`. Optional: `match` (`any`/`all`), `excludeTechnologies`, `countries`, `maxRank`, `maxResults`.
- **Output fields:** `domain`, `url`, `globalRank`, `countryHint`, `title`, `language`, `matchedTechnologies`, `technologies` (full stack), `companySaasDns` (SaaS verified in DNS), `crawlMonth`.
- **Price:** $0.002 per website returned. A name that matches no list costs nothing and returns the closest names.
- **Limits:** top 300,000 sites only, homepage detection, refreshed monthly. Technologies found on fewer than 20 sites have no list.
- **Alternative to:** BuiltWith technology lists, billed per website with no subscription. To scan your own domains, use [Tech Stack Detector](https://apify.com/orbifetch/tech-stack-detector).

### What does Websites Using Technology do?

It gives you **ready-made lists of websites that use a technology**: every site in our crawl that runs HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify, WordPress, Klaviyo, Microsoft 365, Zendesk, Stripe or any of 2,000+ other technologies.

There's nothing to crawl and nothing to wait for. Enter a technology name and get the list back in seconds, with each site's:

- **Global rank** (Majestic Million) and **country** (from the domain)
- **Page title** and **language**
- **Full website stack**: CMS, e-commerce platform, analytics, marketing, chat, payments, CDN…
- **Company SaaS found in DNS**: Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, Salesforce, HubSpot, Atlassian, Zendesk, DocuSign… These are tools a company verified for its domain, so they show what it uses internally, not just on its website. Most technology-lookup tools don't sell this.

Lists come from our own monthly crawl of the **top 300,000 websites**. Browse every list, with free previews of the top 25 sites, at [orbifetch.com/technologies](https://orbifetch.com/technologies/).

### Why use it?

- **Sales prospecting:** find companies that use a tool your product integrates with, replaces or competes with.
- **Competitive intelligence:** see who uses a competitor, and which of those sites rank highest.
- **Targeted combinations:** "uses Shopify **and** Klaviyo", or "uses Shopify but **not** Klaviyo", filtered by country and rank.
- **Price:** BuiltWith's lists start at $295 a month. Here you pay per website, with no subscription.

### How much does it cost?

**$2 per 1,000 websites** ($0.002 per website returned). You're only charged for rows you receive:

| Example | Websites | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Top 1,000 HubSpot users | 1,000 | $2 |
| Shopify stores in the UK, top 100k sites | a few hundred | under $1 |
| A full large list | 10,000 | $20 |

Set **Maximum websites** to cap the size, or set a maximum cost per run in Apify. If a name doesn't match any list, the run tells you the closest names and charges nothing.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **Technologies** (e.g. `HubSpot`, `Microsoft 365`). Names are matched case-insensitively.
2. Choose **Match**: *any* (sites using at least one) or *all* (sites using every one).
3. Optionally add **Exclude websites using**, **Countries** and **Top websites only**.
4. Run it, then export as CSV, Excel or JSON, or call it through the Apify API.

### FAQ

**How is the data collected?**
Once a month we load the public homepage of each of the top 300,000 websites and read its public DNS records. We match the page code against 7,600+ technology fingerprints and the DNS records against known SaaS verification records. We don't collect personal data: no names, emails or phone numbers.

**How fresh is it?**
Refreshed monthly. Each row shows the crawl month.

**Why is a site missing?**
We only cover the top 300,000 websites. Some tools load only on inner pages or after login, so they can't be seen on the homepage. Sites that block automated visits or were down during the crawl are skipped. For your own list of domains, use our [Tech Stack Detector](https://apify.com/orbifetch/tech-stack-detector).

**Which technologies are available?**
Every technology found on at least 20 websites. See the full list at [orbifetch.com/technologies](https://orbifetch.com/technologies/).

**I own a website and want it removed.**
Email support@orbifetch.com from an address at that domain and we'll remove it within 7 days.

# Actor input Schema

## `technologies` (type: `array`):

Technologies to find, e.g. HubSpot, Shopify, Salesforce, Microsoft 365. Names are matched case-insensitively; an unknown name returns the closest list names and costs nothing. All lists: https://orbifetch.com/technologies/

## `match` (type: `string`):

"any": websites using at least one of the technologies. "all": websites using every technology listed.

## `excludeTechnologies` (type: `array`):

Skip websites that use any of these, e.g. find Shopify stores that don't use Klaviyo.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Only websites whose domain points to these countries (from the country code, e.g. United Kingdom, Germany). "Global" means .com and other generic domains. Leave empty for all.

## `maxRank` (type: `integer`):

Only websites ranked in the top N by Majestic Million (e.g. 50000). 0 = no limit.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many websites (best-ranked first). 0 = the full list. You pay per website returned.
