## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## New Trucking Companies – FMCSA New DOT Carriers

Get **brand-new US trucking companies the day FMCSA publishes them**: every new USDOT registration, with **phone, email, address, fleet size, drivers, cargo types and operation type**.

About **11,000 new companies register every month**, and virtually all of them come with a phone number and email. Data comes from the **official FMCSA Company Census on the U.S. DOT open-data portal**. No API key, no login, no scraping of SAFER.

### Who uses this

New carriers need everything at once, so they're among the best leads in transportation:

- **Commercial truck insurance** agents and MGAs
- **Freight factoring** and fuel-card companies
- **Dispatch services**, load boards, brokers recruiting capacity
- **ELD, TMS and compliance** providers (drug & alcohol consortiums, IFTA/UCR filing, BOC-3 process agents)
- **Truck & trailer dealers, leasing, repair shops, tire and parts suppliers**

### Features

- 🆕 **Registered within the last N days**: only brand-new USDOT numbers, newest first
- 🔁 **Only new companies**: remembers what you've already received; schedule it daily for fresh leads only
- 🎯 **Filters**: states, carriers / brokers / shippers / freight forwarders, interstate vs intrastate, **authorized for-hire**, fleet size (power units), cargo types (reefer, flatbed-style building materials, livestock, hazmat…), has MC number, has email
- 📇 **Lead-ready output**: phone formatted, email lowercased, cargo decoded into readable names, link to the official SAFER snapshot
- ⚡ **Fast and inexpensive**: one week of new registrations (about 1,400 companies) in about 5 seconds
- 🔒 **Company data only**: officer names and personal cell phone numbers are never collected

### Example input

```json
{
  "addedWithinDays": 7,
  "states": ["TX", "OK", "LA"],
  "forHireOnly": true,
  "operations": ["A"],
  "minPowerUnits": 1,
  "requireEmail": true,
  "onlyNew": true
}
```

**Daily lead feed:** save the input as a Task, keep **Only new companies** on, and add a daily **Schedule**. Push results to Google Sheets, HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack or email with Apify integrations.

### Good to know

- **MC numbers come later.** FMCSA issues the USDOT number first and grants MC operating authority weeks later, so most brand-new registrations have no MC number yet. That makes them early leads. Use **Has an MC number** to target only companies that already have authority.
- **Publishing delay.** FMCSA's open-data census updates daily, usually 1–3 days behind registration. Keep the window at 7 days with **Only new companies** for a complete feed with no repeats.
- **Contact rules.** Contact details are public FMCSA records. When you email or call these businesses, follow CAN-SPAM, TCPA and do-not-call rules.
