## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## New Business Filings – New LLCs & Corporations (4 States)

Get **newly formed businesses straight from official state business registries**: new LLCs, corporations, nonprofits, partnerships and DBAs in **New York, Colorado, Oregon and Connecticut**. About **50,000 new businesses a month**.

Each record has business name, entity type, formation date, status, jurisdiction and address of record. **Connecticut also adds the business email (about 99%) and NAICS industry code.** No API key, no login, no scraping of state websites.

### Who uses this

New businesses buy almost everything in their first 90 days:

- **Accountants, bookkeepers, tax preparers**, payroll and HR providers
- **Business banking, credit cards, lending**, merchant services
- **Business insurance** (general liability, workers' comp)
- **Web design, marketing agencies**, domain and hosting, signage and printing
- **Office space, coworking, phone systems, software (SaaS)**
- **Compliance services**: registered agent, annual report, BOI and licensing help

### States covered

| State | Source | New per month | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| **New York** | Dept. of State daily filing data | ~20,000 | LLCs, corporations, foreign authorities, LPs, plus **assumed names (DBAs)**; county of principal office |
| **Colorado** | Secretary of State business entities | ~14,000 | principal address, status (Good Standing…) |
| **Oregon** | Secretary of State active businesses | ~8,000 | principal place of business, plus **assumed business names (DBAs)** |
| **Connecticut** | Business Registry | ~5,000 | **business email + NAICS industry** |

### Features

- 🆕 **Formed within the last N days**, newest first
- 🔁 **Only new businesses**: remembers what you've received; schedule daily for a clean feed
- 🎯 **Filters**: entity type (LLC, corporation, nonprofit, partnership, DBA), include or exclude out-of-state (foreign) registrations, city, ZIP prefix, **keywords** on business name or industry (`construction`, `realty`, `cleaning`, `trucking`, `dental`…), has email, has address
- ⚡ **Fast**: a full week across all 4 states (about 10,000 businesses) in about 30 seconds
- 🔒 **Entity data only**: no person names. Filers, organizers, registered agents, process recipients and authorized representatives are excluded, "c/o" and "attn" lines are stripped from addresses, and owner-demographic flags are not collected.

  "formedWithinDays": 7,
  "entityCategories": ["llc", "corporation"],
  "includeForeign": false,
  "keywords": ["construction", "contracting", "roofing"],
  "onlyNew": true
}
```
**Daily lead feed:** save as a Task with **Only new businesses** on and a 7-day window, then add a daily Schedule. Push to Google Sheets, your CRM, Slack or email with Apify integrations.
}
```

### Good to know

- **Address of record.** The address is the one the business filed with the state (principal office, or for NY the process address). For very small businesses this can be a home or a registered-agent office.
- **Data timing.** State portals update daily, usually 1–3 days behind filing. Keep a 7-day window with **Only new businesses** so nothing is missed or repeated.
- **Contact rules.** This is public state data. When you email or call these businesses, follow CAN-SPAM, TCPA and do-not-call rules.
