## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Accessibility Audit (WCAG 2.2, axe-core)

Audit any website for accessibility problems in bulk. The Actor opens each page in a real browser, runs the industry-standard **axe-core** engine and returns a score, a grade and every violation with its WCAG reference, the affected elements, an HTML example and a fix hint.

Built for agencies, freelancers, in-house teams and compliance consultants who need fast evidence for the European Accessibility Act, the ADA, Israeli accessibility regulations, procurement checklists or client reports.

### What you get per page

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `score`, `grade` | 0-100 heuristic and A-F (see below) |
| `violationsByImpact` | Counts of critical / serious / moderate / minor rules failed |
| `violations[]` | Rule id, impact, description, WCAG success criteria (for example 1.4.3), level (A / AA), affected elements, help link and up to 3 HTML examples with a fix hint |
| `passedRules`, `needsManualReview` | Rules that passed, and items axe could not decide automatically |
| `htmlLang`, `title`, `httpStatus` | Basic page facts |

Score: starts at 100; each failed rule costs its impact weight (critical 8, serious 4, moderate 2, minor 1) times the number of affected elements (capped at 10 per rule).

### Input

- **URLs**: pages or home pages (domain names work too)
- **Pages per site**: 1 to 100, follows same-site links breadth first
- **Rule sets**: axe tags, default WCAG 2.0 / 2.1 / 2.2 A and AA plus best practices
- **Device**: desktop or mobile viewport
- **Locale** and **wait after load**

### Use cases

- Bulk audit of client or prospect sites for outreach and quotes
- Monthly regression monitoring through Apify schedules
- Attach the JSON to tickets or reports

### Important limits

Automated testing finds only part of all accessibility barriers (commonly estimated at roughly a third). A good score is not a certificate of conformance and the output is not legal advice. Manual review with keyboard and screen reader is still required.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages or home pages to audit. Domain names without https:// also work.

## `maxPagesPerSite` (type: `integer`):

1 audits only the given URL. Higher values follow same-site links (breadth first).

## `standards` (type: `array`):

Which axe-core tags to test. Default: WCAG 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 level A and AA plus best practices.

## `device` (type: `string`):

Viewport used for the test.

## `locale` (type: `string`):

For example en-US or he-IL.

## `waitAfterLoadMs` (type: `integer`):

Extra wait so scripts and cookie banners finish rendering before the test.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "urls": [
        "https://example.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("os_digital/website-accessibility-audit").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
