## Pricing

from $0.50 / 1,000 item scrapeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RSS Feed Reader: RSS, Atom and JSON Feed with Auto-Discovery

Read any **RSS**, **Atom** or **JSON Feed** in bulk, or just give a website and its feed is found for you. Get clean items with title, link, date, author, categories, image, full text and podcast enclosures.

### What it does

- Supports RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 (RDF), Atom and JSON Feed, including podcast feeds (`itunes:` fields) and media images.
- **Auto-discovery**: give `https://example.com` and the tool reads the feed the site advertises, or tries the usual addresses (`/feed`, `/rss.xml`, `/atom.xml` and more).
- One format for every feed type, with dates converted to ISO 8601.
- Filters by keyword and publish date, so you only pay for relevant items.
- Full content as plain text (default), HTML or left out.

### Who it's for

- **News and content monitoring**: track publications, competitors and blogs in one dataset.
- **AI and LLM pipelines**: feed fresh articles into summarisers, newsletters or RAG systems.
- **Podcast tracking**: episode titles, dates, audio links and durations.
- Schedule it on Apify to check feeds every hour or day.

### Input

| Field | What to enter |
| --- | --- |
| Feeds or websites | Feed URLs or website addresses, one per line |
| Maximum items per feed | Newest first |
| Items published since | Optional date |
| Only items mentioning | Optional keywords |
| Full content | Plain text, HTML or leave out |
| Read every feed a website links to | Off reads the main feed only |

```json
{ "feeds": ["https://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml", "https://github.blog"], "maxItemsPerFeed": 20, "keywords": ["AI"] }
```

### Output

```json
{
  "feedTitle": "BBC News", "feedUrl": "https://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml", "siteUrl": "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news",
  "title": "Headline here", "link": "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/abc", "guid": "https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/abc",
  "published": "2026-10-27T09:00:00.000Z", "author": null, "categories": [], "summary": "Short summary...",
  "content": "Full text when the feed includes it", "imageUrl": "https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/...jpg",
```

### Pricing

| Event | When it is charged | Price per 1,000 (Free / Bronze / Silver / Gold plan) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Feed checked | Each feed or website you list: finding and downloading its feed, once per started 1.5 MB. Also charged when no feed is found. | $1.50 on every plan |
| Item scraped | Each feed item returned in the dataset. | $0.80 / $0.70 / $0.60 / $0.50 |

Example: 50 feeds with 20 items each on the Free plan costs about 50 × $0.0015 + 1,000 × $0.0008 = $0.88.

### Notes and limits

- Feeds larger than 8 MB are read up to that size.
- Many feeds only include their latest 10 to 50 items; older items are not in the feed.
- Feeds behind a login or paywall cannot be read.
