## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Japan New Company Registrations Feed (Official NTA Data)

Get a **daily list of newly registered companies in Japan**: about 700 to 1,000 new corporations every business day. The data comes straight from the **National Tax Agency (NTA) corporate number open data**. You can also track **name changes, address changes, mergers and closures**.

- Official government open data. No scraping of private sites, no login, no proxy, no API key.
- English-friendly output: company type in English (KK, GK/LLC...), prefecture in English, the official English name when the company registered one, and an automatic **romaji** reading generated from the official kana.
- Filter by prefecture, company type and name keywords (Japanese, kana, English or romaji).
- Fast and cheap: one day of data for all of Japan is processed in about 2 seconds.

### Who uses this

- **B2B sales and lead generation**: newly founded companies need banks, accounting, tax advisors, office space, SaaS, recruiting, insurance and web services. Get the list the day after registration.
- **Market entry and research**: see how many KK / GK companies are being founded, where, and in which niches (e.g. names containing "AI", "テック", "Energy").
- **KYB / compliance and data teams**: keep your Japanese company master data fresh (name changes, address changes, closures, mergers).
- **Investors and journalists**: monitor new SPVs, holding companies and startups.

### How to use

1. Choose the **change types** (default: new registrations).
2. Set **days back** (1 = the latest published file) or an explicit date range. The NTA keeps about 40 days of daily files.
3. Optionally limit to **prefectures** (`Tokyo`, `大阪`, `13`...), **company types** and **name keywords**.
4. Run it, or **schedule it daily** (for example 09:00 JST) to receive each new file automatically.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "changeTypes": ["new"],
  "daysBack": 7,
  "prefectures": ["Tokyo", "Osaka"],
  "companyTypes": ["kabushiki", "godo"],
  "nameKeywords": ["AI", "テック", "tech"],
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

}
```
Other fields: `isCorrection`, `updateDate`, `corporateNumberAssignedDate`, `cityEn`, `streetAddress`, `addressOverseas`, `closeDate`, `closeCause`, `successorCorporateNumber`, `isLatest`, `source`.
### Pricing
Pay per result: you pay only for the companies returned. See the **Pricing** tab for the current price.
Example: all new Tokyo companies for one day (about 120 records) cost well under $1.
### Data source, license and limitations
- Source: [National Tax Agency Corporate Number Publication Site](https://www.houjin-bangou.nta.go.jp/), daily difference files (Unicode CSV). The NTA publishes this data under terms compatible with the Public Data License 1.0 (similar to CC BY 4.0), which allows commercial reuse **with attribution**. Every record carries a `source` field. This Actor is not affiliated with or guaranteed by the NTA.
- The registry has **no phone numbers, emails, officers or capital**. It gives the legal name, the address and the corporate number. Combine it with other tools if you need contacts.
- Only corporations appear here, not sole proprietors.
- `nameRomaji` is generated automatically from the official kana and is approximate. When a company has registered an official English name, it is in `nameEnglish`.
- Name keywords use substring matching. Keywords with 4 or more letters are also matched against the romaji.
- Records the NTA marks as excluded from search are always skipped.
- No file is published on weekends or Japanese public holidays.
### FAQ
**How fresh is the data?** The NTA publishes one file per business day, usually for the previous day's registrations. Schedule a daily run to get every file.
**Can I get older data?** Daily files are kept for about 40 days. To look up companies registered earlier, use our *Japan Company Registry Search* Actor.
**Is this legal?** Yes. This is official open data that the government publishes for reuse. We download the published files at a low rate (one request per file) and include the attribution the terms require.
