## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## USAspending Scraper: Federal Contract Awards & Recompete Finder

> **USAspending scraper** on Apify: search US federal contract awards by keyword, NAICS, PSC, agency, state or set-aside, find the contracts that end in the next few months (**recompete radar**), and see the top incumbents, exported to Excel, CSV and JSON. Apify's free plan includes $5 of monthly platform credit, enough for roughly 2,500 contracts at $0.002 each (pricing below).

**Find who wins federal contracts in your market and which ones are coming up for renewal. Get one clean row per contract with the incumbent, UEI, award amount, agency, NAICS / PSC codes, period of performance and official link, plus a ranked list of top competitors, and download it as Excel or CSV.**

Federal market research usually means clicking through USAspending's search screens, exporting huge zip files and cleaning them in a spreadsheet. **Federal Contract Finder** queries the **official USAspending.gov API** (public-domain data, no API key), normalizes every award into the same columns and hands you a spreadsheet you can filter, share or load into your CRM.

- 🎯 **Contract awards:** definitive contracts, purchase orders, delivery orders and BPA calls with recipient, UEI, award amount, outlays, agency and sub-agency, NAICS and PSC with descriptions, place of performance, start and end dates
- ⏰ **Recompete radar:** only contracts whose period of performance ends between today and the next 1 to 36 months, soonest first. These are the incumbent contracts most likely to be re-solicited on SAM.gov
- 🏆 **Top recipients sheet:** incumbents ranked by total award value in your list, with their share and the agencies they serve
- 🔎 **Filters that match how GovCon teams search:** keywords, NAICS (prefixes work), PSC, awarding agency or sub-agency by name or abbreviation (DOD, VA, Department of the Army), state, small-business set-aside (8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB…), recipient name, amount range and activity dates
- 📊 **Excel + CSV export:** formatted workbook with clickable USAspending links, status colors, a search log and a read-me sheet
- 🚫 **Nothing guessed:** when USAspending doesn't publish a field, the cell stays empty
- 💸 **$0.002 per contract.** 500 contracts cost $1.00. Searches with no results cost nothing

### Who it's for

- **Small businesses and new federal contractors:** see what agencies buy in your NAICS code, from whom and for how much, before you bid
- **Capture, BD and proposal teams:** a recompete pipeline 6 to 18 months ahead, with the incumbent and contract value on every row
- **GovCon consultants and Fiverr / Upwork researchers:** client-ready competitor and opportunity reports in minutes
- **Analysts and journalists:** track federal spending on a topic, agency or company

> Federal Contract Finder organizes public award records. It doesn't submit bids or replace SAM.gov: always confirm details on USAspending (link column) and watch SAM.gov for the actual solicitation.

### How to use the USAspending scraper

1. Click **Try for free** and pick a **mode**: *Contract awards* or *Recompete radar*.
2. Add at least one filter: **keywords**, **NAICS**, **PSC**, **agency**, **state**, **set-aside** or **recipient**.
3. For recompete radar, set the **window** in months (default 12).
4. Set **Maximum results**. You pay per returned contract, so this also caps the cost.
5. Click **Start**. Most runs finish in under a minute. Download **CONTRACTS_XLSX** or **CONTRACTS_CSV** from **Storage → Key-value store**, or use the dataset via API.

### For AI agents

Use this Actor to find US federal contract awards, incumbents and contracts ending soon (recompete leads). Call it with Apify's MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`, tool `call-actor`, Actor `pandadad0214/federal-contract-finder`) or the API (`POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/pandadad0214~federal-contract-finder/run-sync-get-dataset-items`).

Minimal input:

```json
{"mode": "recompete", "naicsCodes": ["541512"], "recompeteMonths": 12, "maxResults": 20}
```

Each dataset item includes:

- `agentSummary`: one line, e.g. `FA487726F0034: J.P. INDUSTRIES, INC. won $1.9M from Department of the Air Force; NAICS 561720; ends 2026-11-30 (1.0 months left); performed in AZ; ...`
- `awardId`, `recipientName`, `recipientUei`: what and who
- `amount`: USD; `endDate`, `monthsLeft`, `status`: when it ends
- `awardingAgency`, `naicsCode`, `pscCode`, `url`: context and link

The run's key-value store has a `SUMMARY` record with `returned`, `totalAmount`, `endingWithin12Months`, `topRecipients`, a one-line `takeaway` and `nextStep` (the suggested follow-on tool). Every input field has a description with formats, units and limits. Errors (for example an unknown agency name) fail fast with a plain-English status message and no charge.

### USAspending scraper pricing and free results

**Apify paid-plan discounts:** Bronze members pay 10% less, Silver 20% less and Gold 30% less per contract. Free-plan prices are shown below; the discount applies automatically.

**$0.002 per contract** returned to the dataset (pay-per-event), plus a tiny Actor-start fee of $0.00005. Excel, CSV, the top-recipients sheet and the search log are included. Runs that find nothing cost nothing beyond the start fee. Your **maximum charge per run** is respected.

### FAQ

**Is there a free way to try this USAspending scraper?** Yes. Apify's free plan includes $5 of monthly platform credit, enough for roughly 2,500 contracts at $0.002 each.

**Is this data official?** Yes. Every row comes from the public USAspending.gov API run by the US Treasury, which republishes FPDS contract data. Federal Contract Finder is not affiliated with or endorsed by any US government agency.

**How does the recompete radar work?** It scans awards that had contract activity in your date range (default: the last 36 months), keeps the ones whose current period of performance ends between today and your window, and sorts them soonest first. Options may extend a contract, so treat the end date as the current end, not a guarantee.

**Does it show open solicitations?** No. Open bids live on SAM.gov, which needs your own API key. Use this tool to know the incumbent, the value and the timing, then watch SAM.gov for the solicitation.

**How fresh is it?** Every run queries USAspending live. USAspending updates daily, but DoD contract data is published with a delay of about 90 days.

**Can I use it from code or an AI agent?** Yes, via the Apify API, the Python/JS clients, or as a tool through Apify's MCP server.
