## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Reviews Scraper & App Details

Get the **latest App Store reviews** for any iPhone or iPad app, in any country, as a clean table: star rating, title, review text, app version, date and helpful votes, plus the app's average rating, rating count, developer and genre.

- **Official data**: uses Apple's public iTunes Search/Lookup API and App Store reviews feed. No login, no browser, nothing to get blocked.
- **Any app, any country**: paste App Store links or IDs, or **search by keyword** to analyze competitors.
- **Filters**: only complaints (1-2 stars), only praise (4-5 stars), newest or most helpful first.
- **Privacy-friendly**: reviewer nicknames are off by default.
- **Pay only for reviews returned**: apps with no reviews come back as a free row.

### Who is it for?

- **App developers and product managers**: track what users complain about after each release (`appVersion`).
- **Competitor research**: compare ratings and pain points across rival apps and countries.
- **ASO and marketing agencies**: monitor client apps and collect testimonials.
- **AI / sentiment analysis**: feed clean review text into an LLM or dashboard.

### How to use it

1. Paste **App Store links** (e.g. `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252`) or numeric app IDs, or enter **search terms** to find apps.
2. Pick **countries** (us, gb, ca, de...) and how many reviews you want per app.
3. Optional: set **Maximum stars** to 2 to get only complaints, or **Minimum stars** to 4 to collect testimonials.
4. Click **Start** and export to Excel, CSV or JSON.

### Input example

```json
{
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252"],
  "searchTerms": ["budget tracker"],
  "appsPerSearch": 3,
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 200,
  "maxRating": 2
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "reviewId": "14637030892",
  "appId": "389801252",
  "appName": "Instagram",
  "country": "us",
  "rating": 1,
  "title": "Too much information",
  "review": "Now you have my dob pictures and all sorts of info...",
  "appVersion": "450.1.0",
  "date": "2026-10-06T22:51:34-07:00",
  "helpfulVotes": 0,
  "totalVotes": 0,
  "app": { "appName": "Instagram", "developer": "Instagram, Inc.", "averageRating": 4.69, "ratingCount": 29570473, "currentVersion": "450.1.0", "genre": "Photo & Video" }
}
```

An `APPS_SUMMARY` record in the run's key-value store lists every app and country with its average rating, rating count and reviews returned.

### How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee **per review returned** plus a tiny per-run start fee. For example, 1,000 reviews cost about $0.50. Set **Maximum cost per run** to cap spending.

### Limits

- Apple's public feed gives the **latest 500 reviews per app per country**. For more history, run it in several countries or schedule it daily or weekly and keep the results.
- Reviews are per App Store country; use `countries` to cover more markets.

### Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** It uses Apple's official public feeds. Reviewer nicknames are off by default, so no personal data is collected unless you turn them on.

**Does it work for Mac apps?** Mac App Store apps with reviews in the same feed usually work too.

**Need Google Play reviews?** Open an issue; we read every request and usually reply within 24 hours.
