## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## FDIC Bank Data: US Banks, Branches, Financials & Failures

Get official **FDIC BankFind** data on every **FDIC-insured bank and savings institution** in the United States. The tool has four modes:

- **Banks:** name, CERT and RSSD IDs, holding company, address, coordinates, website, charter class, primary regulator, specialization, founding and FDIC insurance dates, number of offices, total assets, deposits, net income, ROA and ROE.
- **Branches:** every branch location, with address, county, metro area, coordinates, service type and opening date.
- **Quarterly financials:** call-report figures (assets, deposits, net loans, equity, net income, interest income and expense, net interest margin, efficiency ratio, noncurrent loans, loan-to-deposit ratio, tier 1 leverage ratio and employees) for the last N quarters.
- **Failures:** every bank failure since 1934, with assets, deposits, estimated loss to the FDIC fund and the acquiring bank.

Dollar amounts are converted from FDIC thousands to whole dollars. No login or API key is needed.

### Who is it for?

- **Fintech, payments and B2B sales teams** building bank prospect lists by state, size and regulator.
- **Bank analysts, investors and M\&A advisers** screening community banks and tracking quarterly results.
- **Real estate and site-selection teams** mapping branch networks.
- **Researchers and journalists** studying bank failures and concentration.

### How to use it

1. Choose a **mode** (the default is banks).
2. Filter by **bank names**, **FDIC CERT numbers**, **states** (the default is TX) or **city**. You can also set a minimum asset size.
3. For financials, set the number of **quarters**. For failures, set the **year range**.
4. Click **Start** and export to CSV, Excel or JSON.

### Input example

```json
{"mode": "financials", "bankNames": ["JPMorgan Chase", "Wells Fargo"], "quarters": 4}
```

### Output example

```json
{"cert": 628, "name": "JPMORGAN CHASE BANK NA", "reportDate": "2026-06-30", "totalAssetsUsd": 4091315000000, "totalDepositsUsd": 2820284000000, "roaPct": 1.585, "netInterestMarginPct": 2.882, "tier1LeverageRatioPct": 7.495, "url": "https://banks.data.fdic.gov/bankfind-suite/bankfind/details/628"}
```

### How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee **per record (bank, branch, bank-quarter or failure)** returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 records cost about $0.50. Searches with no matches and error rows are **not charged**. Use **Max results** or **Maximum cost per run** to cap your spending.

### Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** Yes. BankFind data is published by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation through its public API for reuse. It is U.S. government data about institutions, not people.

**How fresh is it?** Institution and branch data is updated as changes are reported. Financials are quarterly call reports, usually available about two months after quarter end.

**Why are net income figures "YTD"?** Call reports give income year-to-date, so a June report covers January to June.

**Can I search by holding company?** Use bank names. Each row also includes the holding company name.

**Does it include credit unions?** No. Credit unions are insured by the NCUA, not the FDIC.
