## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Grants.gov Scraper: Federal Grant Opportunities & Forecasts

**Find U.S. federal grant funding in bulk.** Search **Grants.gov**, the official home of all federal grant opportunities (1,000+ open and forecasted at any time), and get clean rows with:

- **Opportunity number**, title, link, agency and department
- **Status** (forecasted, open, closed, archived) and type
- **Posted date, close date (deadline)** and archive date, or estimated post, close and award dates for forecasts
- **Award ceiling and floor**, **estimated total funding** and expected number of awards
- **Who can apply** (nonprofits, small businesses, cities, counties, tribes, universities and more) and eligibility details
- Funding instrument, categories, assistance listing (CFDA) programs, cost sharing and full description

Filter by **keyword, status, eligibility, category, funding instrument, agency, CFDA number, posted date, closing date and minimum award size**.

### Who is it for?

- **Grant writers and consultants**: get a daily list of new grants that match your clients.
- **Nonprofits, schools, cities and tribes**: find open funding you're eligible for, sorted by deadline.
- **Small businesses and researchers**: track SBIR and research grants by agency.
- **Pairs with USAspending**: use the **USAspending Federal Awards Scraper** (listed below) to see who won a grant program in the past.
- **Newsletters and grant databases**: power alerts and directories with fresh official data.

### How to use it

1. Enter a **keyword** and choose **statuses** (forecasted and open by default).
2. Add filters, such as **Who can apply = Nonprofits with 501(c)(3)**, a category, or **Closing within 30 days**.
3. Click **Start** and export to Excel, CSV or JSON. Schedule it daily with **Posted within the last 1 day** for a new-grants alert.

}
```
  "agency": "National Institutes of Health",
  "estimatedCloseDate": "2028-01-25",
  "url": "https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/364066"
}
```

### How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee **per grant opportunity** returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee, with no subscription and no separate platform usage costs. For example, 500 opportunities cost about $1. Searches with no matches are **not charged**. Set **Max opportunities** or **Maximum cost per run** to cap your spending.

### Good to know

- Agency staff contact names, emails and phone numbers are not collected. Open the `url` to see how to apply.
- Always confirm deadlines and eligibility on Grants.gov before applying.

### Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets or email alerts. AI agents can call it through the Apify MCP server.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** Yes. Grants.gov is an official public U.S. government website, and this tool uses its official public API.

**Found a bug or need a feature?** Open an issue. We usually reply within 24 hours.
