## Pricing

from $1.00 / 1,000 packages

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## npm & PyPI Package Stats: Downloads, Versions, Licenses

Get clean stats for **npm** (JavaScript) and **PyPI** (Python) packages in one run: weekly and monthly downloads, latest version, release history, license, dependencies, repository, homepage and more. Add package names, paste registry URLs, or search npm by keyword. Data comes straight from the official public registry APIs (registry.npmjs.org, api.npmjs.org, pypi.org and pypistats.org). No login, no API key.

### Who is it for?

- **Developers and tech leads** comparing libraries before picking one (popularity, release activity, license, dependency count).
- **Developer-tool companies and DevRel teams** tracking adoption of their own packages and competitors week by week.
- **Security and compliance teams** auditing licenses and stale or deprecated dependencies.
- **Investors and analysts** measuring open-source traction.

### How to use it

1. Add **npm packages** (e.g. `express`, `@types/node`) and/or **PyPI packages** (e.g. `requests`).
2. Optionally type an **npm search** like `web scraper` to add matching packages automatically.
3. Optionally list the **recent versions** with publish dates.
4. Click **Start** and download JSON, CSV or Excel, or schedule it to track downloads over time.

### Input example

```json
{"npmPackages": ["express", "react"], "pypiPackages": ["requests", "pandas"], "recentVersions": 3}
```

### Output example

```json
{"ecosystem": "npm", "package": "express", "latestVersion": "5.3.0", "license": "MIT", "downloadsLastWeek": 140000000, "downloadsLastMonth": 585410126, "versionCount": 320, "dependencies": 28, "repository": "https://github.com/expressjs/express", "url": "https://www.npmjs.com/package/express"}
```

PyPI rows also include `downloadsLastDay`, `requiresPython`, `classifiers` and `documentation`.

### How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee **per package** returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee, with no subscription and no separate platform usage costs. For example, 1,000 packages cost about $1. Packages that are not found are **not charged**. Set **Maximum cost per run** to cap your spending.

### Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** Yes. It reads public package metadata from the official registry APIs, at a polite rate. It does not collect maintainer names or email addresses.

**How fresh are the download numbers?** npm download counts update daily; PyPI numbers come from pypistats.org, which also updates daily.

**Can I track downloads over time?** Yes. Schedule a daily or weekly run and compare the datasets, or send them to Google Sheets.

**Does it support scoped npm packages?** Yes, for example `@types/node` or `@angular/core`.
