## SEC EDGAR Filings Lookup — official data.sec.gov API, no login

Look up any U.S. public company's full SEC filing history through SEC's own official EDGAR
data API (`data.sec.gov`). No login, no proxies, no scraping of sec.gov's HTML — this reads
the same structured JSON endpoint SEC publishes for exactly this purpose.

Government public data: SEC's Fair Access Policy states "Anyone can access and download this
information for free" (source: sec.gov/os/webmaster-faq, checked 2026-09-02). This actor
follows SEC's published rules: it identifies itself with a declared User-Agent and stays well
under the 10 requests/second limit — no bot-detection evasion of any kind.

Each target is a ticker symbol or a 10-digit CIK number. Add `:FORM1,FORM2` after the ticker
to filter to specific form types (e.g. `AAPL:10-K,10-Q,8-K`). Filings are returned newest first.

One dataset item per filing:

Scope: returns SEC's most recent filings per company (up to 1,000; SEC's own limit for the
"recent" feed). Very old filings (roughly pre-2015 for long-listed companies) live in a
separate archive file per company and are not included in this version.
