## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## US Treasury Average Interest Rates — official Fiscal Data API, no login

Monthly average interest rates on U.S. Treasury securities — Bills, Notes, Bonds, TIPS,
Floating Rate Notes, savings securities, and more (22 security types) — pulled from the
official **U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service** public Fiscal
Data REST API (`api.fiscaldata.treasury.gov`). No account, no API key, no proxies.

The Fiscal Data license page states it plainly: "The data is offered free, without restriction,
and available to copy, adapt, redistribute, or otherwise use for non-commercial or commercial
purposes."

### Tested (2026-09-02)

| Security type | Records returned | Notes |
|---|---:|---|
| `Treasury Bills` | 307 total on file | monthly |
| `Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS)` | 262 total on file | parentheses in the name work fine |
| Nonexistent security type | 0 | empty result, no error |

### Average interest rates on us treasury securities — input

```json
{
  "targets": ["Treasury Bills", "Treasury Notes"],
  "maxItems": 2000
}
```

Each target is a **security type** exactly as Treasury lists it (e.g. `Treasury Bills`,
`Treasury Notes`, `Treasury Bonds`, `Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS)`,
`Treasury Floating Rate Notes (FRN)`, `Government Account Series`, `Total Marketable`,
`Total Non-marketable`). A security type with no matching records simply returns 0 items
for that target (no charge).

### Average interest rates on us treasury securities — output fields

One dataset item per monthly rate record:

| Field | |
|---|---|
| `security_type_desc` / `security_desc` | marketable vs. non-marketable, and the specific instrument |
| `avg_interest_rate_amt` | the official average interest rate for that month (percentage) |
| `record_date` | the reporting date |
| `record_fiscal_year` / `record_fiscal_quarter` | U.S. federal fiscal period |
| `record_calendar_year` / `record_calendar_quarter` / `record_calendar_month` / `record_calendar_day` | calendar period breakdown |
| `src_line_nbr` | Treasury's own source line number for the record |

No personal data: these are government accounting statistics by security type, not
individual transactions or people.

### Why this over Treasury's own website

fiscaldata.treasury.gov's UI is built for browsing one dataset at a time. This actor runs a
batch of security types in one call and hands back structured rows — for building rate-history
trackers, fixed-income research pipelines, or datasets that need this as data, not a web page.

### Use Cases

- **Rate-history tracking** — build a monthly time series of average interest rates by security type
- **Fixed-income benchmarking** — compare average rates across security types over time
- **Government accounting reference** — pull official average rates by fiscal period for reporting
- **Economic trend analysis** — correlate average Treasury rates with other macro indicators

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$1.00 per 1,000 interest-rate records** collected. Nothing else.
