## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Bulk Domain WHOIS, DNS & Availability Checker do?

Paste a list of **domains, website URLs or email addresses** and get, for each domain:

- **WHOIS / RDAP registration data** — registrar, **creation date, expiry date**, last update, **domain age** and **days to expiry**, status codes (e.g. `client transfer prohibited`), nameservers, DNSSEC.
- **Availability** — whether the domain is unregistered and free to buy.
- **DNS records** — A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, CNAME, and whether the domain has a live website.
- **Email setup & security** — detected **mail provider** (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Proton, GoDaddy, …), **SPF** and **DMARC** records and the DMARC policy (`none` / `quarantine` / `reject`).

Data comes from official open protocols: **RDAP** (the modern replacement of WHOIS, served by the registries themselves via IANA) and DNS. No API keys, no rate-limited WHOIS scraping. Thousands of domains per run.

### Why use it?

- **Lead qualification & enrichment**: see which companies use Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365, how old their domain is, and whether they have a website.
- **Email deliverability & security audits**: find domains missing SPF or DMARC, or with a weak DMARC policy.
- **Domain investing & brand protection**: check availability in bulk, monitor expiry dates of your portfolio or of names you want to catch.
- **Fraud and risk checks**: flag very young domains in sign-ups, payments or outreach lists.
- **IT inventory**: audit DNS and registrars across all your company's domains.

### How to use it

1. Paste domains, URLs or emails into **Domains** (one per line). `https://www.example.com/page` and `jane@example.com` both become `example.com`; duplicates are removed.
2. Choose which checks to run.
3. Click **Start** and export JSON, CSV or Excel, or use the API and integrations.

```
An unregistered domain returns `"available": true`.
### How much does it cost?
**Pay-per-event pricing**: a small fixed price per domain checked (see the Pricing tab). Invalid inputs are free. Platform usage is included.
### Limitations
- Registration data is available for every TLD that runs a public RDAP server — all generic TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .app, …) and most country codes. A few country registries (e.g. `.de`) do not publish RDAP; for those you still get DNS and email data, and `whoisError` explains why registration data is missing.
- Registrant contact details are usually redacted by registries for privacy (GDPR) and are not returned.
- "Available" means the registry has no record of the domain; premium or reserved names may still not be purchasable at the standard price.
### FAQ
**How many domains can I check?** As many as you like — the Actor checks them in parallel.
**Is this WHOIS?** RDAP is the official successor of WHOIS, run by the same registries, and returns structured data instead of free text.
