## Pricing

from $3.99 / 1,000 group insights

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### Facebook Group Insights Scraper

Facebook Group Insights Scraper turns a list of [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com) group links into one row of group insights each: total members and weekly growth, posts in the last day and month, privacy and visibility, whether the group asks membership questions, cover photo, location, creation date, admins, moderators, and rules.

### What is Facebook Group Insights Scraper?

**Facebook Group Insights Scraper** is a **Facebook group data extraction tool** that reads the **About** section of a group, the same page anyone sees before joining. For every group link you give it, you get the **exact member count**, **new members in the last week**, **posts in the last day and month**, **privacy and visibility**, whether the group uses **membership questions**, the **cover photo** with its size, the **location**, **creation date and name-change history**, the **admins and moderators** Facebook lists, the **rules**, and the **topic tags**.

It works on **public and private groups**, because Facebook shows the About page to visitors who aren't members. No Facebook account, cookies, or Graph API access is needed, so it works as a **Facebook Groups API alternative** for group metadata. To try it, open the Actor, keep the prefilled group link, and click **Start**.

### What can Facebook Group Insights Scraper do?

- 👥 **Measure group size and growth**: the exact member count and Facebook's "new members in the last week" figure, as numbers and as Facebook's original text.
- 📈 **Check how active a group is**: posts in the last day and posts in the last month.
- 🔒 **See who can join**: public or private, visible or hidden, and whether join requests must answer membership questions.
- 🖼️ **Get the cover photo**: image URL, width and height, and the cover photo's Facebook page.
- 📍 **Find the group's location**: every location the admins set, plus the first one as a single field.
- 🛡️ **List the team**: admin and moderator counts, the names Facebook shows, and the combined "Admins and moderators" total.
- 📜 **Save the rules**: every rule with its title and text.
- 🧾 **Batch hundreds of groups**: up to 500 links, usernames, or IDs per run. Each group that fails gets its own error row with a reason and code.
- ⏱️ **Automate it**: run on a schedule with [Apify schedules](https://docs.apify.com/platform/schedules), call it through the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2), or send results to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, Slack, and more with [integrations](https://apify.com/integrations).
- 📁 **Export anywhere**: JSON, CSV, Excel, HTML, or XML.

### How to scrape Facebook group insights

1. Open [Facebook Group Insights Scraper](https://apify.com/parsebird/facebook-group-insights-scraper) and click **Start** or **Try for free**.
2. In **Group URLs**, paste one group link per line, such as `https://www.facebook.com/groups/cheapmealideas/`. Usernames and numeric IDs also work.
3. Click **Start** and wait a few seconds per group.
4. Open the **Output** tab. The **Group insights** view shows the key numbers, and **Full details** shows the rest.
5. Export the results as JSON, CSV, Excel, HTML, or XML, or get them through the API.

### Input parameters

### Use cases

- **Group marketing**: rank groups in your niche by members and monthly posts before you spend time posting or buying promotion.
- **Community audits**: check privacy, membership questions, rules, and team size across the groups you manage.
- **Growth tracking**: schedule weekly runs and chart member counts and activity over time.
- **Lead research**: enrich a spreadsheet of group links with size, location, tags, and admin names.
- **Link checking**: find dead, removed, or hidden groups in a list. Each one gets an error row.

### How it works

1. You paste group links, usernames, or IDs.
2. The Actor opens each group's About page as a logged-out visitor and reads the insights Facebook shows there.
3. It saves one flat row per group, turning text such as "5,992,882 total members" into a number, and an error row for any input it can't read.

### How much does it cost to scrape Facebook group insights?

**What is the price per Facebook group?**

The Actor uses pay-per-event pricing: you pay for each group saved, and platform usage is included in the price.

| Event | Free plan | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
|-------|-----------|--------|--------|------|
| `group-scraped` | $0.00599 (**$5.99 / 1,000**) | $0.00499 (**$4.99 / 1,000**) | $0.00449 (**$4.49 / 1,000**) | $0.00399 (**$3.99 / 1,000**) |

One `group-scraped` event is one successful group row. Error rows are free, and a group entered twice is charged once. The prefilled one-group run costs about $0.006 on the Free plan, and 100 groups cost about $0.60. Apify's free plan includes monthly platform credits you can use to try the Actor.

### Is it legal to scrape Facebook groups?

**Is scraping Facebook group data legal?**

The Actor only reads the group About page that Facebook shows to anyone without logging in. Scraping publicly available data is generally legal in many jurisdictions, but admin and moderator names are personal data protected by laws such as GDPR and CCPA. Have a legitimate reason to collect the data, respect [Facebook's Terms](https://www.facebook.com/terms.php), and check with a lawyer if you're unsure. ### FAQ

**Does it work for private groups?**
Yes. Facebook shows the About page of private groups to non-members, so you get the name, description, member count, activity, privacy, membership questions, cover photo, location, and history. Groups that Facebook hides from logged-out visitors, and groups that don't exist or were removed, return an error row with code 404 and aren't charged.

**What does `has_questions` mean?**
It is `true` when Facebook says the group asks people to answer membership questions before they can join. In our tests it was `true` only for private groups.

**Why are admins or moderators missing for some groups?**
The Actor returns the admins and moderators Facebook lists on the About page. Some groups, often private ones, list none to logged-out visitors, so the names are empty and the counts are 0. `admins_and_moderators_count` is Facebook's combined total for both roles.

**How many groups can I check in one run?**
Up to 500 links, usernames, or IDs per run. The same group entered in different forms is saved once.

**What do the error codes mean?**
`400` means the input isn't a Facebook group link, username, or ID. `404` means Facebook says the group isn't available. `403` means Facebook showed a login page instead of the group. `429` or `503` means Facebook kept limiting requests after several retries; run those groups again later.

**How exact are the numbers?**
`members_count` comes from Facebook's exact "total members" text, and the post counts are the numbers Facebook shows for the last day and month. The `..._text` fields keep Facebook's original wording.

**Can it find groups by keyword or scrape group posts and members?**
No. It reads group insights from the links you give it. For posts, use [Facebook Public Group Posts Scraper](https://apify.com/parsebird/facebook-group-posts-scraper).

**Can I run it on a schedule or from my app?**
Yes. Use [Apify schedules](https://docs.apify.com/platform/schedules), call it from the [API tab](https://apify.com/parsebird/facebook-group-insights-scraper/api), or connect it to Make, Zapier, Google Sheets, or Slack through [integrations](https://apify.com/integrations).

**Where can I report issues or request a field?**
Open the **Issues** tab on the Actor page with your input and run ID.

## `groupUrls` (type: `array`):

Add Facebook group links, one per line, such as https://www.facebook.com/groups/cheapmealideas/. Links to a group's About, members or post pages, m.facebook.com links and /share/g/ links also work, and so do bare group usernames or numeric group IDs. Up to 500 groups per run.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

No proxy setup is needed. The Actor picks its own network route and switches to Apify Proxy when Facebook limits requests.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "groupUrls": [
    "https://www.facebook.com/groups/cheapmealideas/"
  ]
}
```

## `dataset` (type: `string`):
