## Pricing

from $0.79 / 1,000 group posts

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### What is Facebook Public Group Posts Scraper?

**Facebook Public Group Posts Scraper** is a **Facebook group scraper** that reads the discussion feed of **public groups** the way a logged-out visitor sees it. For every post you get the **post text**, **author name, profile link, and picture**, **publish time**, **post URL**, **total reactions and the breakdown by type**, **comment and share counts**, and **photos and videos** with direct download links and Facebook's image descriptions.

You don't need a Facebook account, cookies, or your own proxies. The easiest way to try it is to open the actor, keep the prefilled group, and click **Start**. The prefilled run saves 10 posts in under a minute.

### What can Facebook Public Group Posts Scraper do?

- 💬 **Scrape posts from public Facebook groups** by group name or numeric ID, from `www`, `web`, or `m.facebook.com` links.
- 📦 **Scrape many groups at once**: add up to 100 groups and set a post limit for each.
- 📅 **Stop at a date**: set **Stop at posts older than** to collect only recent posts.
- 📊 **Measure engagement**: total reactions, Like/Love/Care/Haha/Wow/Sad/Angry counts, comments, and shares.
- 🖼️ **Get photos and videos**: every photo in a post with full-size download links, sizes, and Facebook's description, plus video links and thumbnails.
- 🕵️ **Keep anonymous posts**: posts by anonymous members are included, with the name Facebook shows ("Anonymous participant").
- ⏱️ **Automate** with [Apify schedules](https://docs.apify.com/platform/schedules), the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2), webhooks, and [integrations](https://apify.com/integrations) such as Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, and Slack.
- 📁 **Export** results as JSON, CSV, Excel, HTML, or XML.

### Python API example

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("parsebird/facebook-group-posts-scraper").call(
    run_input={
        "groupUrls": ["https://www.facebook.com/groups/discountchicksdeals"],
        "maxItems": 100,
        "untilDate": "2026-09-01",
    }
)
for post in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(post["creation_time"], post["author"]["name"], post["reactions"]["total"], post["post_url"])
```

### JavaScript API example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: '<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>' });
const run = await client.actor('parsebird/facebook-group-posts-scraper').call({
    groupUrls: ['https://www.facebook.com/groups/discountchicksdeals'],
    maxItems: 100,
    untilDate: '2026-09-01',
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((post) => console.log(post.creation_time, post.author.name, post.reactions.total, post.post_url));
```

See the [Python client docs](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/) and [JavaScript client docs](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/) for more options.

### Use cases

- **Market research**: see what people ask for, recommend, and complain about in niche communities.
- **Lead generation**: find "looking for" and job posts in freelancer, real estate, and buy-and-sell groups.
- **Deal and listing monitoring**: schedule runs with a date cutoff to catch new deals, rentals, or listings.
- **Brand monitoring**: track mentions of your product in public communities.
- **AI and NLP pipelines**: feed post text into sentiment analysis, topic modeling, or LLM summaries.

### How it works

1. The actor turns each link into a group ID and reads the group's public discussion feed as a logged-out visitor.
2. It loads posts page by page until it reaches **Max posts per group**, your date cutoff, or the end of what Facebook shows.
3. Each post becomes one row. A post found twice is saved once, and the same group entered twice is scraped once.

### How much does it cost to scrape Facebook group posts?

**What is the price per Facebook group post?**

The actor uses pay-per-event pricing: you pay per post saved, and platform usage and residential proxy are included.

| Event | Free plan | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
|-------|-----------|--------|--------|------|
| `post-scraped` | $0.00149 (**$1.49 / 1,000**) | $0.00129 (**$1.29 / 1,000**) | $0.00099 (**$0.99 / 1,000**) | $0.00079 (**$0.79 / 1,000**) |

One `post-scraped` event is one post row in the dataset. Groups that fail are not charged. The prefilled 10-post run costs about $0.015 on the Free plan, and 1,000 posts cost $1.49. Apify's free plan includes monthly platform credits you can use to try the actor.

### Is it legal to scrape Facebook groups?

**Is scraping public Facebook group posts legal?**

The actor only reads posts that Facebook shows to anyone without logging in. Scraping public data is generally legal in many jurisdictions, but group posts contain personal data covered by laws such as GDPR and CCPA, and photos are protected by copyright. Have a legitimate reason to collect the data, respect [Facebook's Terms](https://www.facebook.com/terms.php), and consult your lawyer if unsure. Read more in Apify's guide: [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)

### FAQ

**Which groups work?**
Public groups. Private groups don't show their posts to logged-out visitors, so they are reported in the log and not charged. Groups that don't exist or were removed fail with "isn't available".

**How many posts can I get from a group?**
As many as Facebook shows to logged-out visitors. In our tests, a busy deals group returned 90+ posts covering a single day with no sign of stopping, while the `webscraping` group showed only 14 posts in total. Some groups show logged-out visitors only a selection of posts. Set **Max posts per group** to 0 to collect everything available.

**Does the sort order setting work?**
The actor sends your sort order to Facebook, but for logged-out visitors Facebook usually serves the group's own default order. Most busy groups default to newest first. Each row has `creation_time`, so you can sort the dataset yourself.

**How does the date cutoff work?**
Posts older than **Stop at posts older than** are skipped, and the actor stops once the feed reaches older posts. The cutoff works best for groups whose feed is newest first.

**Why is the author ID a long `pfbid...` string?**
For many people Facebook shows a scrambled ID instead of a profile number. The name and profile link are still included when Facebook shows them. Anonymous posts show "Anonymous participant" and no profile link.

**Why do photo links stop working?**
Photo and video links are signed by Facebook and expire after a few days. Download the files you need soon after the run.

**Do I need to set up a proxy?**
No. Facebook only serves group feeds to residential IPs, so the actor uses Apify residential proxy automatically, and the cost is included in the price per post.

**Can I run it on a schedule or from my app?**
Yes. Use [Apify schedules](https://docs.apify.com/platform/schedules), call it from the [API tab](https://apify.com/parsebird/facebook-group-posts-scraper/api), or connect it to Make, Zapier, Google Sheets, or Slack through [integrations](https://apify.com/integrations).

**Where can I report issues?**
Open the **Issues** tab on the actor page with your input and run ID.

# Actor input Schema

## `groupUrls` (type: `array`):

Add public group links, one per line, for example https://www.facebook.com/groups/discountchicksdeals, a numeric link such as https://www.facebook.com/groups/1681780278682735, or a web.facebook.com or m.facebook.com link. Up to 100 groups per run.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many posts from each group. Set 0 to collect every post Facebook shows.

## `untilDate` (type: `string`):

Keep only posts published on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD, UTC). Collection stops once the feed reaches older posts.

## `sortingSetting` (type: `string`):

The order to request from Facebook. Facebook often serves logged-out visitors the group's default order regardless; see the README. Set to Chronological when 'Stop at posts older than' is used.
