## Changelog

### v2.0 — 2026-08-17

- Removed Instagram, Threads, and Facebook checks. Meta blocks proxy traffic at the IP-pool level, so these three could not be checked reliably even with a residential proxy — we'd rather support 7 platforms well than 10 platforms unreliably
- Removed the proxy requirement entirely. All 7 remaining platforms (TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, X, GitHub, Snapchat, Twitch) were verified to connect reliably with no proxy, so proxy is now optional and off by default
- Output rows no longer include `available_instagram`, `available_threads`, or `available_facebook`

### v1.1 — 2026-08-17

- Instagram and Facebook each get their own dedicated proxy session per handle, with one automatic retry on a fresh session if the first attempt is blocked
- Pinned the residential proxy to a US exit to avoid YouTube's cookie-consent wall serving a false negative
- Widened the YouTube "taken" signal so channel pages are detected reliably
- Fixed Twitch detection to tolerate either HTML attribute order in the page's title metadata

### v1.0 — 2026-08-17

- Initial release
- Check username availability across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, X, Threads, GitHub, Snapchat, and Twitch in one run
- One output row per handle with a per-platform `available_*` column (`yes`, `no`, `error`, or `not_checked`)
- Threads availability inferred from the shared Instagram username lookup — no extra request needed
- Fresh residential proxy session per handle for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, X, and Threads
- Direct (no-proxy) checks for GitHub, Snapchat, and Twitch
- Restrict `platforms` to check only the sites you care about and save run time
