## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### F6S Companies Directory Scraper

**Scrape F6S company profiles from any market, country, or listing URL, up to a million per run.** Every row returns the company name, description, location, and when you enable details, its website, sector tags, and social links. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

F6S is the world's largest founder community, listing millions of startups and scale-ups across more than 100 markets. Manually browsing the directory to build a prospect list or market map is slow and unrepeatable. This Actor reads the public F6S company listings directly, lets you pick the markets and countries you care about, and returns a structured dataset you can filter and analyze offline.

| Who uses it | What they scrape F6S for |
|---|---|
| Venture capital analysts | Build a deal-flow pipeline of early-stage companies in a specific sector and geography. |
| Sales and business development teams | Generate a targeted list of startups that match an ideal customer profile for outreach. |
| Market researchers | Map the competitive landscape of a niche industry across multiple countries. |
| Recruitment agencies | Identify fast-growing companies that are likely to be hiring in a particular city or region. |

### What it does

This Actor collects F6S company listings by market, country, or direct URL and returns each company as a flat row with its name, description, location, and optional website, sector tags, and social links.

- 🏢 **Market and country filters:** Select from over 100 predefined markets like FinTech, Health, or SaaS, and narrow results to a single country or leave it worldwide.
- 🔗 **Direct URL input:** Paste any F6S listing URL, including city-level pages, to scrape exactly the companies you see on screen.
- 📄 **Profile enrichment:** Optionally visit each company's profile to capture its website, sector tags, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook handles.
- ⚡ **Fast listing-only mode:** Turn off profile enrichment to collect name, description, and location at maximum speed.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

### What you can do with F6S data

**💰 Build a FinTech deal-flow list.**

A VC analyst selects the FinTech market and United Kingdom, sets max items to 500, and exports a CSV of every listed company with its website and social links for the Monday partner meeting.

**📊 Map the HealthTech landscape across Europe.**

A market researcher runs the Actor for the Health market across Germany, France, and the Netherlands, then pivots the dataset in Excel to count companies by sector tag.

**📧 Generate a SaaS sales prospecting list.**

A BDR picks the SaaS market, restricts to the United States, and turns off profile enrichment to get 1,000 company names and descriptions in under a minute for a cold-email campaign.

**🌍 Track startup activity in a single city.**

A recruiter pastes the F6S city listing URL for Bangalore, enables profile enrichment, and collects the website and LinkedIn of every company to prioritize outreach.

### Why choose this scraper

| | What you get |
|---|---|
| **No API key required** | Reads the public F6S directory so you can start scraping without registration or tokens. |
| **Fixed flat schema** | Every company lands as one row with the same columns, ready for spreadsheets and databases. |
| **City-level targeting** | Paste a city listing URL to focus on a single startup hub like Mexico City or Berlin. |
| **Up to 1M companies** | Scale from a quick 10-company preview to a full market sweep across dozens of markets. |

### How it compares

No other Store actor targets F6S the same way, so the honest comparison is with the alternatives teams actually weigh.

| | F6S Companies Directory Scraper | Build it in-house | By hand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Setup | Run it now, zero config | Days of engineering | None, but hours per pull |
| When F6S changes | Maintained for you | You fix it | You re-learn the page |
| Proxies, retries, anti-bot | Built in | Your problem | Browser only |
| Output | Fixed JSON schema, CSV/Excel export | Whatever you build | Copy-paste |
| Cost | Pay per result | Engineering time | Analyst hours |

### Configure the run

Drive the Actor from markets, countries, and direct listing URLs, alone or together, and the max items limit stops the run once you have collected enough companies. The Input tab lists every parameter.

A first run with the defaults:

```json
{
 "markets": [
 "fintech"
 ],
 "startUrls": [],
 "maxItems": 10
}
```

A larger pull:

```json
{
 "markets": [
 "fintech"
 ],
 "startUrls": [],
 "maxItems": 200
}
```

### Pricing

Pay-per-result: **$0.0085 per result** collected. You pay only for the results written to your dataset.

| Results collected | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| 100 results | $0.85 |
| 1,000 results | $8.50 |
| 10,000 results | $85.00 |

New Apify accounts start with $5 in free credit.

### Free users

Free-plan runs return up to 10 results as a preview. [Upgrade your Apify plan](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=vmoqkp) to collect up to 1,000,000 results per run.

### Run it

1. [Create a free Apify account with $5 in credit](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=vmoqkp).
2. Open the [F6S Companies Directory Scraper](https://apify.com/parseforge/f6s-companies-directory-scraper?fpr=vmoqkp).
3. Set your inputs and any filters, then click **Start**.
4. Export the results as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML from the **Dataset** tab.

Run it programmatically through the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2) (`run-sync-get-dataset-items`) or the [ApifyClient](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js) for JavaScript and Python.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

Give an AI agent live access to F6S through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/f6s-companies-directory-scraper"
```

Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.

### Troubleshooting

**Why am I getting only 10 results?**

Free Apify accounts are limited to 10 items per run as a preview. Upgrade to a paid plan and increase the 'Max Items' field to collect more companies.

**The run finished but my dataset is empty.**

Check that the market slug you selected still exists on F6S and that the country filter, if set, matches the market's available listings. Try running without a country filter first to verify the market returns results.

**Why are website and social links missing from my results?**

These fields require the 'Visit company profiles for website and sectors' option to be enabled. If it was off during the run, the Actor only collected the listing-level fields. Turn it on and re-run.

**The run is taking a long time.**

Profile enrichment visits each company's detail page, which multiplies the number of requests. Turn off 'Visit company profiles' for a much faster run, or reduce the max items to a smaller sample.

**Can I scrape a market that is not in the dropdown?**

The dropdown lists every market F6S currently exposes. If you need a market that is not listed, find its listing URL on F6S and paste it directly into the 'F6S listing URLs' field.

### FAQ

| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is F6S? | F6S is a community platform where founders, startups, and investors connect. It hosts public company profiles, job listings, accelerator programs, and deal-flow tools. |
| Does this scraper need an F6S account or API key? | No. The Actor reads the public directory pages that anyone can view in a browser. You do not need to log in or register an application. |
| How many companies can I scrape in one run? | Free Apify users can scrape up to 10 companies as a preview. Paid users can set the max items up to 1,000,000. Each F6S listing page holds at most 100 companies, so select multiple markets to reach higher totals. |
| What data fields does the Actor return? | Every row includes the company name, description, and location. When you enable profile enrichment, it also returns the website, sector tags, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook URLs. |
| Can I scrape companies from a specific city? | Yes. Paste a city-level F6S listing URL into the startUrls field, for example https://www.f6s.com/companies/mexico/mexico-city/lo, and the Actor will scrape only that page. |
| How do I scrape multiple markets at once? | Select as many markets as you need in the markets input field. The Actor will iterate through each market listing page and collect the companies from every one. |
| What happens if I turn off profile enrichment? | The Actor skips visiting each company's detail page, so the run finishes much faster. You still get the name, description, and location from the listing page. |
| Can I filter by country? | Yes. Use the country dropdown to restrict all selected markets to a single country. Leave it on 'All countries' to scrape worldwide listings for each market. |
| Does the Actor handle F6S rate limiting? | The Actor runs on the Apify platform with built-in request management. It respects the site's response times and will not overload the F6S servers. |
| What export formats are supported? | You can export your dataset to CSV, JSON, Excel, XML, or RSS from the Apify console, or push it directly to a cloud storage integration. |
