## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### FIFA National Team Rankings Scraper

**Scrape FIFA national team rankings for men's or women's football, from the top 10 to a million teams per run.** Every row returns the current rank, team name, points, and previous rank. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

FIFA publishes the official world rankings for men's and women's national teams, but there is no public API to pull the full list in a structured format. This Actor reads the live rankings directly and returns each team as a flat row, so you can track movements, build dashboards, or feed your own models without manual copying.

| Who uses it | What they scrape FIFA for |
|---|---|
| Sports journalists | Tracking which national teams are rising or falling each month for a story. |
| Football analysts | Feeding current FIFA rankings into predictive models for tournament outcomes. |
| App developers | Powering a live rankings widget or bot with structured FIFA data. |
| Fantasy league operators | Using official rankings to seed teams or calculate bonus points. |

### What it does

This Actor collects FIFA national team rankings for men or women and returns each team's current rank, name, points, and previous rank as a single row.

- 👥 **Gender filter:** choose men's or women's rankings in one run.
- 📊 **Flat row output:** current rank, team name, points, and previous rank in a fixed schema.
- ⚡ **Scalable collection:** set a limit from 1 to 1,000,000 teams per run.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

### What you can do with FIFA data

**📈 Track ranking movements over time.**

A football analyst runs the Actor weekly and diffs the current rank against the previous rank to spot the biggest climbers and fallers.

**📰 Power a newsroom graphic.**

A sports journalist pulls the top 50 men's teams before a major tournament and feeds the CSV into a data-visualisation tool.

**🤖 Build a rankings bot.**

A developer schedules daily runs for the women's rankings and posts the top 10 to a Telegram channel or Twitter account.

**🎮 Seed a simulation or game.**

A hobbyist grabs the full women's ranking list and uses the points column to weight match outcomes in a custom tournament simulator.

### Why choose this scraper

| | What you get |
|---|---|
| **Official FIFA data** | The same rankings published on FIFA.com, structured for analysis. |
| **No API key needed** | Reads the public ranking page directly, no registration or OAuth. |
| **Fixed schema** | Every run returns the same columns so your pipeline never breaks. |
| **Men's and women's** | One Actor covers both ranking tables with a single gender selector. |

### How it compares

The Futbin Player Details Scraper focuses on individual player cards and in-game FUT market data, while this Actor delivers the official FIFA national team rankings for real-world men's and women's football.

| Feature | ParseForge | Futbin Player Details Scraper |
|---|---|---|
| FIFA national team rankings | Yes | Not listed |
| Men's and women's rankings | Yes | Not listed |
| Current rank and points | Yes | Not listed |
| Previous rank tracking | Yes | Not listed |
| No API key or login | Yes | Not listed |

### Configure the run

Set the gender to men or women and cap the number of teams you want. The Actor reads the official FIFA ranking table and stops once it has collected your limit. The Input tab lists every parameter.

A first run with the defaults:

```json
{
 "maxItems": 10
}
```

A larger pull:

```json
{
 "maxItems": 200
}
```

### Pricing

Pay-per-result: **$0.021 per result** collected. You pay only for the results written to your dataset.

| Results collected | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| 100 results | $2.10 |
| 1,000 results | $21.00 |
| 10,000 results | $210.00 |

New Apify accounts start with $5 in free credit.

### Free users

Free-plan runs return up to 10 results as a preview. [Upgrade your Apify plan](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=vmoqkp) to collect up to 1,000,000 results per run.

### Run it

1. [Create a free Apify account with $5 in credit](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=vmoqkp).
2. Open the [FIFA National Team Rankings Scraper](https://apify.com/parseforge/fifa-team-rankings-scraper?fpr=vmoqkp).
3. Set your inputs and any filters, then click **Start**.
4. Export the results as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML from the **Dataset** tab.

Run it programmatically through the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2) (`run-sync-get-dataset-items`) or the [ApifyClient](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js) for JavaScript and Python.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

Give an AI agent live access to FIFA through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/fifa-team-rankings-scraper"
```

Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.

### Troubleshooting

**Why am I getting no results?**

Check that you selected a valid gender ('men' or 'women') and that maxItems is at least 1. If the FIFA page layout changed, the Actor may need an update; contact support.

**The points column is empty for some teams.**

FIFA occasionally shows zero or blank points for newly added or inactive teams. This reflects the source page, not a scraping error.

**I set maxItems to 500 but only got 211 rows.**

FIFA ranks roughly 210 teams. The Actor stops when it runs out of rows on the page, so setting a higher number returns the full available list.

**The previous rank is missing for some teams.**

New entries or teams returning after a long absence may not have a previous rank. The field will be empty in those cases, matching the FIFA table.

**My run timed out.**

Lower the maxItems value. Requesting a million rows when only about 210 exist can cause unnecessary processing. Set maxItems to 250 or less for a fast run.

### FAQ

| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How often are the FIFA rankings updated? | FIFA usually publishes new rankings a few times a year for women and monthly for men. The Actor reads whatever is live on the site at the moment you run it. |
| Can I get historical rankings? | This Actor scrapes the current live table only. For historical data you would need to run it on a schedule and store the snapshots yourself. |
| Does this include continental rankings like UEFA or CONMEBOL? | No, it returns the global FIFA ranking for all national teams. The table includes the confederation abbreviation as part of the team name. |
| What does the points column represent? | It is the official FIFA ranking points calculated from match results, importance, and opponent strength over a rolling period. |
| Can I scrape both men's and women's rankings in one run? | One run returns one gender. To get both, run the Actor twice, once with 'men' and once with 'women'. |
| Is there a rate limit or do I need a FIFA account? | No account or API key is needed. The Actor reads the public ranking page, and you control how many teams to collect per run. |
| What output formats are supported? | You can export your dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify platform. |
| How many teams can I scrape at once? | You set the maximum, from 1 up to 1,000,000. FIFA ranks around 210 teams, so setting a high number returns the full list. |
| Does the Actor return the confederation for each team? | The confederation abbreviation is included in the team name field as it appears on the FIFA page. |
| Can I schedule this to run automatically? | Yes, Apify schedules let you run the Actor daily, weekly, or monthly and receive the fresh dataset by email or webhook. |
