## Pricing

from $1.90 / 1,000 gemini answers

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## 💎 Gemini Search Scraper

> 🚀 **Export Gemini answers in seconds.** Send any list of prompts and get back the full answer, every source Gemini cites, which sentence cites which source, every page it searched, and a visibility check for your brand. In our cloud tests 300 prompts in a row came back with 300 answers, at a median of 12.5 seconds per answer and 10 or more answers in parallel.

This Actor asks Gemini your prompts the way a logged-out visitor does on gemini.google.com. No Google account, no cookies, no API key and no browser: it talks to the same endpoint the Gemini web app uses, so the answer is what people actually see, with Gemini's own web search, not a model call with your own key. Each prompt is its own chat, so one prompt never colours the next.

Every row has 20 fields: the answer as plain text and as Markdown, the model that answered, the location Gemini saw for the visitor, the pages Gemini searched, the cited sources with title, URL, domain, publisher and snippet, claim-level citations, and a brand check for any brand or domain you list. In our last 300-prompt run, 84% of the answers cited sources (2.6 on average, up to 7) and Gemini searched 6.9 pages per prompt on average (up to 24).

| 🎯 Target Audience | 💡 Primary Use Cases |
|---|---|
| SEO and GEO specialists | Track which pages Gemini cites for your keywords |
| Brand and PR teams | See how Gemini describes your brand and your rivals |
| Content marketers | Find the sources that win AI citations in your niche |
| Agencies | Report AI search visibility to clients, prompt by prompt |
| Market researchers | Collect Gemini answers at scale for analysis |
| Data teams | Build datasets of AI answers with their evidence |

### 📋 What the Gemini Search Scraper does

1. Takes a list of prompts, one per entry.
2. Sends each one to Gemini as a fresh logged-out chat, several at a time.
3. Reads the complete answer from the data Gemini returns: text, Markdown, cited sources, claim-level citations and the pages it searched.
4. Checks each brand or domain you list: named in the answer or not, how many times, where it first appears, in which order among your list, whether it is cited, and whether Gemini read it while searching.
5. Writes one row per prompt, and optionally one extra row per cited source. Failed prompts are retried on a new connection and never charged.

> 💡 **Why it matters:** more and more people ask an AI before they ask a search engine. The answer they read names a handful of brands and cites a handful of pages. If your brand or your content is not in that answer, you are invisible at the moment of decision, and the only way to know is to ask the same prompts at scale and keep the evidence.

### 📊 Output

Each dataset row is one prompt and its Gemini answer. 20 columns per row.

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 🏷 `rowType` | string | `answer` for the answer row (`source` for the optional per-source rows) |
| 🔎 `query` | string | The prompt you sent |
| 💬 `answerText` | string | The full answer as plain text |
| 📝 `answerMarkdown` | string | The same answer in Markdown, with headings, lists, bold and tables |
| 🔢 `answerWordCount` | number | Words in the answer |
| 🤖 `model` | string | The Gemini model that answered (logged-out visitors get `3.5 Flash-Lite`) |
| 📍 `detectedLocation` | string | The place Gemini localised the answer to, taken from the exit IP |
| 🌍 `detectedCountry` | string | Country code of that location |
| 🗣 `language` | string | Language of the answer |
| 🌐 `webSearchUsed` | string | `Yes` when Gemini searched the web for this answer |
| 🕸 `websitesSearched` | number | Pages Gemini opened while searching |
| 🔍 `searchedPages` | array | Those pages: position, title, URL, domain, and whether the answer cites it |
| 📚 `sourcesCount` | number | Cited sources |
| 🏷 `citedDomains` | array | Unique domains of the cited sources, in citation order |
| 🔗 `sources` | array | Cited sources: position, title, URL, domain, publisher, snippet, how many claims cite it |
| 📌 `citations` | array | Each cited sentence of the answer with the sources that back it |
| 🎯 `trackedBrands` | array | Per brand or domain you listed: mentioned, mention count, first position, mention rank, cited, cited position, searched by Gemini |
| ⏱ `responseTimeSeconds` | number | Seconds Gemini took to answer |
| 🕒 `scrapedAt` | string | When the row was collected |
| ❌ `error` | string | Populated only on failed rows |

Gemini decides by itself whether a prompt needs the web. When it answers from its own knowledge, `webSearchUsed` is `No` and `searchedPages`, `sources` and `citations` come back as empty arrays, never nulls. Some answers search pages without citing any of them: `searchedPages` still lists what Gemini read.

#### Real sample record

One unedited row from a cloud run on September 30, 2026, with brand tracking for `HubSpot`, `zapier.com` and `Salesforce`. Long arrays are shortened to their first entries here; the dataset holds all of them.

### ✨ Why choose this Actor

| | What you get |
|---|---|
| **The real Gemini answer** | Read from the same stream the Gemini web app renders, including its web search. Not a chat-completion call with someone's API key. |
| **Claim-level citations** | Which sentence cites which source, not only a list of links at the bottom. |
| **Pages searched, not only cited** | See every page Gemini read, and which of them made it into the answer. |
| **GEO checks built in** | List your brand and your rivals: mentioned, how often, in which order, cited, read. |
| **Fast and light** | No browser: ten or more prompts in parallel, about 13 seconds per answer. |
| **Nothing to maintain** | No login, no cookies, no key. Failed prompts are retried and never charged. |

### 📈 How it compares to alternatives

The comparison uses each Actor's public Store page and price on September 30, 2026.

| Feature | ParseForge | apify/gemini-search-scraper |
|---|---|---|
| Answer as text and Markdown | Both | Text only |
| Cited sources with snippet | Yes | Yes |
| Claim-level citations | Yes | No |
| Pages searched but not cited | Yes, flagged | A "more" list, unflagged |
| Brand and domain tracking | Yes, with order | No |
| One row per source | Optional | No |
| Country of the answer | Follows the exit IP | Country input |

**Ceilings, stated plainly:** logged-out visitors always get `3.5 Flash-Lite`; there is no model picker without an account. Gemini does not show the internal searches it ran ("fan-out" queries) to visitors, so the Actor reports the pages it read instead. Gemini answers in the language of the prompt. Its answer is localised to the exit IP, which for a normal run is an Apify datacenter in the US.

### 🚀 How to use

1. [Create a free Apify account with $5 in credit](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=vmoqkp).
2. Open the Gemini Search Scraper.
3. Add your prompts, one per line. Optionally list the brands or domains you want to track.
4. Click **Start**.
5. Export the results as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML from the **Dataset** tab, or schedule the run to track your visibility week after week.

Example input:

```json
{ "queries": ["best CRM for small business", "top 5 project management tools"], "trackBrands": ["HubSpot", "asana.com"], "maxItems": 100 }
```

### 💼 Business use cases

**📡 Track your share of AI answers.**

Keep a list of the prompts your buyers type, list your brand and your rivals, and schedule the run weekly. The `trackedBrands` column shows who Gemini names, in what order, and who it cites.

**🧭 Find the pages that win citations.**

Turn on **One row per cited source** and sort by domain: the sites Gemini cites most in your niche are the ones worth a guest post, a listing or a partnership.

**🧪 Compare localised answers.**

Gemini localises to the exit IP. Turn on a proxy with a country and run the same prompts to see what visitors in another market are shown.

**📚 Build datasets of AI answers.**

Collect thousands of prompts with their answers, sources and claim-level citations for research, evaluation or retrieval work.

### 🔌 Automating Gemini Search Scraper

Schedule runs from the Apify Console and send the dataset to Make, Zapier, Slack, Airbyte, GitHub or Google Drive, or call the Actor from the Apify API and the ApifyClient for JavaScript and Python. A weekly run that posts `trackedBrands` to a Slack channel is a one-hour setup.

### 🌟 Beyond business use cases

**🎓 Research:** study how an AI assistant picks and cites sources across topics and countries.

**🧑‍💻 Personal:** check what Gemini says about you, your shop or your project.

**🤝 Non-profit:** see whether the public answers about your cause cite your pages.

**🔬 Experimentation:** compare how wording changes the brands an answer names.

### 🤖 Ask an AI assistant about this scraper

Copy this into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor to start:

```
Use the Apify Actor "parseforge/gemini-search-scraper" to ask Gemini a list of prompts and collect its answers. Input: { "queries": ["<prompt>"], "trackBrands": ["<brand or domain>"], "includeSourceRows": false, "maxItems": <n> }. Each row has answerText, answerMarkdown, sources, citations, searchedPages and trackedBrands. Call it with the ApifyClient and my APIFY_TOKEN.
```

### ❓ Frequently Asked Questions

#### 🔑 Do I need a Google account or a Gemini API key?

No. The Actor asks Gemini as a logged-out visitor, exactly like opening gemini.google.com in a private window.

#### 🤖 Which Gemini model answers?

Logged-out visitors get Gemini's lightweight model, reported in the `model` column (`3.5 Flash-Lite` today). A model picker needs an account.

#### 🌐 Does Gemini always search the web?

No, Gemini decides. In our last 300-prompt run 97% of the answers used web search and 84% cited at least one source. Answers to general-knowledge prompts often cite nothing.

#### 🔎 Why are `searchedPages` longer than `sources`?

`searchedPages` is every page Gemini opened; `sources` is the ones it cited in the answer. The `cited` flag on each searched page tells them apart.

#### 🧭 Can I see the searches Gemini ran?

No. Gemini does not show its internal search queries to visitors. The Actor gives you the pages it read instead.

#### 🌍 Can I choose the country?

The answer is localised to the exit IP. By default that is an Apify datacenter in the US. Turn on a proxy with a country to see another market; residential exit IPs carry an extra per-answer charge because their traffic costs more.

#### 🗣 Can I choose the language?

Gemini answers in the language of the prompt, so write the prompt in the language you want back.

#### ⚡ How fast is it?

About 13 seconds per answer (median 12.5 s, 90% under 21 s in our 300-prompt run), and you can run 10 or more prompts at once.

#### 🚦 Is there a limit per IP?

Yes. Google asks an IP for a breather after roughly 180 answers in a couple of minutes. The Actor then moves to Apify Proxy by itself and keeps going; in our 300-prompt run every answer came back.

#### ❌ What happens when a prompt fails?

It is retried up to four times on a new connection. If it still fails, you get a row with the error and you are not charged.

#### 💸 Am I charged for failed prompts?

No. Only rows with an answer are billed.

#### ⚖️ Is this an official Google product?

No. It is an independent tool that reads the public Gemini web app.

### 🔌 Integrate with any app

Connect the dataset to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, Airbyte or your own code through the Apify API, webhooks and integrations.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Questions or keywords to ask Gemini, one per entry. Each prompt runs in a fresh, logged-out chat and produces one dataset row.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Free users: Limited to 10 items (preview). Paid users: Optional, max 1,000,000

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many prompts are asked in parallel (1 to 30). Higher finishes sooner; lower is gentler on Gemini.

## `trackBrands` (type: `array`):

Optional. Brand names or domains (e.g. HubSpot, salesforce.com). For each one the row reports whether the answer names it, how often, in which order, and whether it is among the cited or searched sources.

## `includeSourceRows` (type: `boolean`):

Also write one extra row for every source Gemini cites (title, URL, domain, publisher, snippet), next to the answer row. Billed as a separate per-source event.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Off by default: Gemini answers the Apify platform directly, and the Actor switches to Apify Proxy by itself if Google asks an IP for a breather (after roughly 180 answers from the same IP). Turn on a proxy with a country to see the answers and sources visitors from that country get.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "What are the top 5 CRM tools",
    "best running shoes for flat feet 2026"
  ],
  "maxItems": 10,
  "maxConcurrency": 10,
  "includeSourceRows": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

Clients without OAuth support can send an `Authorization: Bearer <APIFY_API_TOKEN>` header instead, using a token from API & Integrations in Apify Console (https://console.apify.com/settings/integrations).
