## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Reddit Lead Scraper – Buying-Intent Lead Finder

Find people on Reddit who are **asking for a product, tool, vendor or service recommendation right now** — and get each post scored for buying intent (0–100). No Reddit login, no API key.

**Price: $1.00 per 1,000 leads** (pay per lead returned; posts below your score threshold are free).

### What it does

1. Searches Reddit (all of Reddit or the subreddits you choose) for your keywords combined with buying-intent phrases ("recommend", "alternative to", "looking for", "best").
2. Scores every post for buying intent: explicit asks ("any recommendations", "alternative to X", "switching from", "willing to pay") score high; generic mentions score low.
3. Returns only leads above `minIntentScore`, newest first.

### Input example

```json
{ "keywords": ["crm"], "subreddits": ["smallbusiness","sales"], "timeRange": "week", "minIntentScore": 50, "maxLeads": 50 }
```

### Output fields (one item per lead)

| field | meaning |
|---|---|
| intentScore | 0–100 buying-intent score |
| title, snippet | post title and first 300 chars |
| matchedKeywords | your keywords found in the post |
| matchedIntentPhrases | intent phrases that triggered the score |
| url | link to the Reddit post |
| subreddit, author, createdAt | where, who, when (ISO 8601 UTC) |
| postId | Reddit post id |

### For AI agents / MCP

Call with `keywords` (required). Use `minIntentScore: 70` for explicit purchase intent only. Output is flat JSON; sort by `intentScore` and reply on Reddit by hand following each subreddit's rules. Typical run: under 1 minute for ≤100 leads.

### Use cases

SaaS founders finding prospects, agencies and freelancers finding clients, competitor "alternative to" monitoring, market research on what buyers ask for.

### Notes

Uses Reddit's public search feeds politely (rate-limited, max 40 requests per run). Only public posts. Please respect Reddit's rules and don't spam.

### Example output (real run, Nov 4 2026, keyword "crm")

```json
{
 "intentScore": 54,
 "title": "Which B2B CRM system is worth moving to when spreadsheets stop working?",
 "subreddit": "CRMSoftware",
 "author": "Ok_Ball_1022",
 "createdAt": "2026-11-04T13:25:06.000Z",
 "matchedKeywords": [
  "crm"
 ],
 "matchedIntentPhrases": [
  "looking for a",
  "recommend"
 ],
 "url": "https://www.reddit.com/r/CRMSoftware/comments/1xno4gh/which_b2b_crm_system_is_worth_moving_to_when/",
 "snippet": "My brother runs a commercial cleaning business, and I've been helping him figure out a better way to manage customer relationships. They've reached the point where keeping everything in spreadsheets and email folders is becoming more trouble than it's worth. Nothing catastrophic has happened yet, bu"
}
```

### FAQ

**Is this a Reddit scraper?** Yes, a focused one: instead of dumping every post, it returns only posts where someone asks for a recommendation, alternative or vendor, scored 0–100.
**Do I need a Reddit account or API key?** No. It reads public search feeds only.
**How much does a run cost?** $0.01 per run + $0.0015 per lead returned. 50 leads ≈ $0.085. Low-score posts are free.
**How fresh are results?** Newest first; choose `timeRange` hour/day/week/month/year. Schedule it daily for a lead monitor.
**Why fewer leads than posts scanned?** Spam, job posts, bot (AutoModerator) posts and low-intent posts are filtered out on purpose.
**Can AI agents call it?** Yes, via Apify MCP (`call-actor`) or API. Only `keywords` is required.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

What you sell or the category buyers ask about, e.g. 'crm', 'email marketing tool', 'bookkeeper'. Each keyword is searched on Reddit and combined with buying-intent phrases.

## `subreddits` (type: `array`):

Optional subreddit names without r/, e.g. 'smallbusiness', 'SaaS'. Leave empty to search all of Reddit.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Only return posts created within this window.

## `minIntentScore` (type: `integer`):

Drop posts below this buying-intent score. 50 = clear request for recommendations (default); 70+ = explicit ask in the title, e.g. alternative to X or which tool should I buy.

## `maxLeads` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of leads to return (you pay only per lead returned).

## `extraIntentPhrases` (type: `array`):

Additional phrases that signal buying intent in your niche, e.g. 'looking to hire'.

## `proxy` (type: `object`):

Reddit blocks many datacenter IPs; Apify Proxy is used automatically.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "crm",
    "email marketing tool"
  ],
  "subreddits": [],
  "timeRange": "week",
  "minIntentScore": 50,
  "maxLeads": 50,
  "proxy": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `leads` (type: `string`):

Scored leads: intentScore, title, subreddit, author, createdAt, matchedKeywords, matchedIntentPhrases, url, snippet.
