## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### Technical details

Scrape **product reviews from any Shopify store** in one click. Give it a store URL. It finds the store's products, **detects the review app automatically** (Judge.me, Yotpo, Okendo, Loox or Stamped.io) and returns clean, normalized reviews in one format: star rating, title, text, reviewer name as shown, date, verified-buyer flag, helpful votes, photo/video URLs and the store's reply.

No login, no API keys, no proxies needed. It reads the same public review widgets that shoppers see on the store's product pages.

### What can you use it for?

- **Competitor research.** Read what customers love and hate about competing products.
- **Dropshipping & product research.** Check real buyer sentiment before you list a product.
- **Voice-of-customer & copywriting.** Pull real customer language for ads and landing pages.
- **AI / LLM pipelines.** Feed clean review text into sentiment analysis, summarization or RAG.
- **Brand monitoring.** Track new reviews and ratings on your own store or your resellers' stores.
- **Review migration audits.** Export reviews in one schema, whatever app the store uses.

### Supported review apps

| App | Detected by | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Judge.me | storefront scripts | per-product, includes store replies |
| Yotpo | public app key in storefront | per-product, photos, helpful votes, replies |
| Okendo | public subscriber ID | store-wide feed (fast), photos/videos |
| Loox | public widget ID | per-product, photos. The Loox grid widget doesn't show dates, so `date` is empty |
| Stamped.io | storefront scripts | store-wide feed, photos/videos, replies |

Stores using other apps return one item with `reviewApp: "unsupported"` (no charge).

### Input

```json
{
  "storeUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.brooklinen.com" }, { "url": "https://feals.com" }],
  "productUrls": [{ "url": "https://feals.com/products/sleep-gummies" }],
  "maxReviewsPerStore": 500,
  "maxProductsPerStore": 250,
  "includeProducts": false
}
```

- `storeUrls`: store homepages. All products are scanned, up to `maxProductsPerStore`.
- `productUrls` (optional): scrape only these products.
- `maxReviewsPerStore`: maximum number of reviews to return per store.
- `includeProducts`: also output the product list (id, handle, title).

### Output (one item per review)

```json
{
  "storeUrl": "https://feals.com",
  "reviewApp": "judgeme",
  "productId": "7458900246572",
  "productHandle": "sleep-gummies",
  "productTitle": "The Sleep Gummies",
  "reviewId": "fb294ee5-2893-43c4-afef-8be39178f54c",
  "rating": 5,
  "title": "Sleeping again!!",
  "body": "I have been having a very hard time sleeping...",
  "authorName": "Karin R.",
  "date": "2026-10-29T19:54:41Z",
  "verifiedBuyer": true,
  "helpfulVotes": 0,
  "mediaUrls": [],
  "replyText": null,
  "type": "review"
}
```

You can download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or pull them through the Apify API, webhooks, Make, Zapier or n8n.

### Pricing

Pay only for what you get (pay-per-event):

- **$0.005** per run (actor start)
- **$0.0005 per review**, which is **$0.50 per 1,000 reviews**

Example: 10,000 reviews cost about $5. Stores where no reviews are found don't cost anything beyond the start fee.

### Tips

- Okendo and Stamped stores use a fast store-wide feed. For other apps, lower `maxProductsPerStore` to make runs faster.
- To track new reviews, schedule the Actor daily with a small `maxReviewsPerStore` (newest reviews come first for Okendo, Stamped and Judge.me).

### FAQ

**Do I need the store's API key or a login?** No. Only public storefront data is used.

**Do I need proxies?** No. Requests are rate-limited and retried politely.

**Why is `date` empty for Loox?** Loox's public grid widget doesn't show review dates.

**My store isn't detected.** It may use an unsupported app (e.g. Shopify Product Reviews, Reviews.io, Fera) or load reviews only after a user interaction. Open an issue with the URL.

### Is it legal?

This Actor only collects **publicly visible** review content that any shopper can see on the store's website. It doesn't log in, bypass access controls or collect emails or private customer data. Reviewer names are returned only as the store shows them (usually first name and last initial). You're responsible for using the data in line with applicable laws (e.g. GDPR) and the website's terms. If you're unsure, ask a lawyer.
