## Pricing

$0.30 / 1,000 vehicle positions

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Malaysia Real-Time Bus & Train Tracker API (Rapid KL, KTMB, myBAS GTFS-Realtime)

Get **live GPS positions of buses and trains across Malaysia** as clean JSON, CSV or Excel: **Rapid KL buses, MRT feeder buses, Rapid Penang, KTMB trains and myBAS city buses** (Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Melaka, Seremban, Kuching, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Alor Setar, Kangar).

Raw GTFS-Realtime feeds are binary protobuf. This Actor decodes them for you into simple rows with route, vehicle, plate, latitude, longitude, speed (km/h) and timestamp. Data comes from the official open API at [data.gov.my](https://developer.data.gov.my/realtime-api/gtfs-realtime). No scraping, no login.

### Use cases

- **Transit apps, maps and dashboards**: show where buses are right now.
- **Urban mobility and research**: collect positions every few minutes to measure headways, delays and coverage.
- **AI agents**: answer "where is the T789 bus?" with live data (MCP compatible).
- **Property and location analytics**: measure real public-transport service levels near a site.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `feeds` | One or more of `rapid-bus-kl`, `rapid-bus-mrtfeeder`, `rapid-bus-penang`, `ktmb`, `mybas-johor`, `mybas-ipoh`, `mybas-melaka`, `mybas-kuching` and more. |
| `routeIds` | Optional GTFS route IDs to keep. |
| `maxItems` | Cap on vehicles returned. |

Example:

```json
{ "feeds": ["rapid-bus-kl", "ktmb"], "routeIds": [] }
```

### Output

```json
{ "feed": "rapid-bus-kl", "vehicleId": "WB1234A", "licensePlate": "WB1234A", "routeId": "T789",
  "latitude": 3.1478, "longitude": 101.6953, "speedKmh": 23.4, "bearing": 180,
  "timestamp": "2026-10-22T00:01:30.000Z" }
```

Tip: schedule it every 1-5 minutes to build your own history of vehicle movements.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.30 per 1,000 vehicle positions** (USD 0.0003 each). A snapshot of all Rapid KL buses costs a few cents.

### Notes

- Source: data.gov.my GTFS-Realtime open data. Not affiliated with Prasarana, KTMB, myBAS or the Government of Malaysia.
- `speedKmh` is the speed as reported by the operator feed (Malaysian feeds report km/h).
- Feeds refresh about every 30 seconds; a feed that is temporarily down is skipped with a warning.

# Actor input Schema

## `feeds` (type: `array`):

Which live feeds to read. Rapid KL bus, MRT feeder bus, Rapid Penang, KTMB trains and myBAS city buses.

## `routeIds` (type: `array`):

Optional: keep only these GTFS route IDs (e.g. 'T789', '300'). Empty = all routes.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Max vehicles.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "feeds": [
    "rapid-bus-kl"
  ],
  "routeIds": [],
  "maxItems": 10000
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Live GPS positions of Rapid KL, MRT feeder, Rapid Penang, KTMB and myBAS buses and trains, decoded from official GTFS-Realtime feeds into clean JSON. Records are stored in the default dataset.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "feeds": [
        "rapid-bus-kl"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("phyllic/malaysia-realtime-transit-tracker").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
