## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) Exchange Rates, OPR & Kijang Emas Gold API: Official Central Bank Data

Get **official ringgit exchange rates for 27 currencies** (USD, SGD, EUR, GBP, CNY, JPY, THB, IDR and more), the **Overnight Policy Rate (OPR)**, **interbank rates** and **Kijang Emas gold coin prices**, as JSON, CSV or Excel. Pick the 09:00, 11:30, 12:00 or 17:00 fixing, pull **daily history** for any date range, and optionally convert an amount.

Data comes from the central bank's free official Open API. No scraping, no API key, no login.

### Use cases

- **Accounting, invoicing and e-invoice (MyInvois) tools**: official MYR rates for foreign-currency invoices.
- **E-commerce and remittance**: daily rate updates for price lists.
- **Finance dashboards and research**: OPR, interbank and gold history.
- **AI agents**: answer "what is the official USD/MYR rate today?" (MCP compatible).

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `currencies` | Currency codes; empty = all 27 latest. |
| `session` | `0900`, `1130`, `1200` or `1700`. |
| `startDate` / `endDate` | Set both for daily history (YYYY-MM-DD). |
| `amountMyr` | Optional amount to convert. |
| `includeKijangEmas` / `includeOpr` / `includeInterbank` | Toggles. |

Example: `{ "currencies": ["USD", "SGD"], "startDate": "2026-09-01", "endDate": "2026-09-30" }`

### Output

```json
{ "recordType": "exchangeRate", "date": "2026-10-21", "currency": "USD", "unit": 1, "session": "1200",
  "buyingRateMyr": 4.082, "sellingRateMyr": 4.084, "middleRateMyr": 4.083, "myrPerOneUnit": 4.083, "oneMyrInCurrency": 0.244918,
  "source": "Source: Bank Negara Malaysia" }
```

Note: some currencies (JPY, IDR, THB, etc.) are quoted per 100 units; `myrPerOneUnit` normalises this.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.001 per record** (USD 1 per 1,000). Today's full rate sheet costs about 3 cents.

### Attribution and terms

Source: Bank Negara Malaysia. Data and information are subject to [Terms of Use for BNM Datasets](https://www.bnm.gov.my/terms-of-use-bnm-datasets). This Actor is independent and is not endorsed by Bank Negara Malaysia. Rates are indicative interbank rates, not dealing rates.
