## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Malaysia Weather Forecast, Warnings & Earthquakes API (MET Malaysia)

Get the **official 7-day weather forecast for every Malaysian state, district and town**, plus **active MET Malaysia weather warnings** (thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, rough seas) and **recent earthquakes near Malaysia**, as clean JSON, CSV or Excel. Forecasts are translated from Bahasa Malaysia to English, with the original kept.

Data comes from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) through the official open API at [data.gov.my](https://developer.data.gov.my). No scraping, no proxies, no login.

### Use cases

- **AI agents & chatbots**: give an assistant reliable Malaysian weather and warnings (works as an MCP tool).
- **Logistics, delivery and field-service teams**: plan routes around thunderstorm and heavy-rain warnings.
- **Events, sports courts, tourism and recreation**: check forecasts for Langkawi, Cameron Highlands, Genting and 345+ other places.
- **Dashboards and alerts**: schedule hourly runs and push new warnings to Slack, email or webhooks.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `locations` | Names to keep, partial match (e.g. `Kuala Lumpur`, `Johor Bahru`). Empty = all. |
| `locationTypes` | Keep only `state`, `district`, `town`, `division` or `recreation`. |
| `days` | Forecast days ahead, 1-7. |
| `includeForecast` / `includeWarnings` / `includeEarthquakes` | Toggle each data set. |
| `earthquakeDays` | Earthquake look-back window. |

Example input:

```json
{ "locations": ["Kuala Lumpur", "Langkawi"], "days": 3, "includeWarnings": true, "includeEarthquakes": false }
```

### Output

Each record has a `recordType` of `forecast`, `warning` or `earthquake`.

```json
{ "recordType": "forecast", "locationName": "Kuala Lumpur", "locationType": "state", "date": "2026-10-23",
  "minTempC": 24, "maxTempC": 33, "summary": "Thunderstorms in some places", "summaryWhen": "Afternoon",
  "morning": "No rain", "afternoon": "Thunderstorms in some places", "night": "No rain" }
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.50 per 1,000 records** (USD 0.0005 per record). A daily forecast for one city costs well under one cent.

### Notes

- Source: MET Malaysia via data.gov.my open data (attribution included in every record). This Actor is not affiliated with MET Malaysia or the Government of Malaysia.
- Translations of forecast phrases are automatic; the Bahasa Malaysia original is kept in `summaryBm`.
- For safety-critical decisions always check the official MET Malaysia channels.
