## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Bulk Domain WHOIS, DNS, MX/SPF/DMARC & SSL Checker

> 🔥 **Launch Sale: 90% OFF for the first week!** Every price below is already the regular, below-market rate, and launch week takes 90% off on top.

Check thousands of domains at once: RDAP/WHOIS registrar, creation and expiry dates, domain age, nameservers, A/AAAA/MX/TXT/CAA records, email provider, SPF/DMARC/DKIM with an email-security score, verified SaaS tools and SSL certificate expiry. No API key.

### What can Bulk Domain WHOIS, DNS, MX/SPF/DMARC & SSL Checker do?

Paste domains. For each one we ask the registry's own RDAP server (the modern, structured WHOIS, found via the IANA bootstrap), resolve DNS over HTTPS, read the email-authentication records, spot SaaS verification tokens and open a TLS connection to read the certificate.

| What you get | Features |
|---|---|
| 🪪 Registrar, created / updated / expiry dates, age, DNSSEC | 🏛️ Registry RDAP via IANA bootstrap: official, structured |
| 🌐 A, AAAA, NS, MX, TXT, CAA, www CNAME, DNS provider | 🔒 Live TLS handshake for SSL issuer and days left |
| ✉️ Email provider, SPF, DMARC policy, DKIM, 0-100 score | 🧩 Verified SaaS tools from TXT tokens (Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, OpenAI...) |
| ⏰ Days until domain and certificate expiry | 📤 CSV, Excel, JSON, API, Zapier, Make, n8n |

### Who this is for

- Lead qualification: company email provider, stack and domain age
- Deliverability and security audits of SPF/DMARC/DKIM
- Domain portfolio and certificate expiry monitoring
- Brand protection and lookalike-domain triage

### What you get back

| Field | Type | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| `domain` | `string` | domain |
| `registrar` | `string/null` | registrar |
| `created_at` | `string/null` | created at |
| `expires_at` | `string/null` | expires at |
| `domain_age_days` | `integer/null` | domain age days |
| `dns_provider` | `string/null` | dns provider |
| `email_provider` | `string/null` | email provider |
| `spf_all_mechanism` | `string/null` | spf all mechanism |
| `dmarc_policy` | `string/null` | dmarc policy |
| `email_security_score` | `integer` | email security score |
| `verified_services` | `array of string` | verified services |
| `ssl_issuer` | `string/null` | ssl issuer |
| `ssl_days_left` | `integer/null` | ssl days left |
| `status` | `string` | status |

Full rows carry 49 fields; see the **Output** tab for the complete schema. A sample (trimmed) row:

```json
{
  "domain": "stripe.com",
  "registrar": "SafeNames Ltd.",
  "dmarc_policy": "reject",
  "email_security_score": 95
}
```

### What you need to provide

| Field | Type | Required | What it does | Sample |
|---|---|---:|---|---|
| `domains` | `array` | Yes | One per line. Bare domains, URLs or even email addresses work: stripe.com, https://www.python.org/about, jane@apify.com. | `["stripe.com", "python.org", "apify.com"]` |
| `checkSsl` | `boolean` | No | TLS handshake on port 443 for issuer, expiry date and days left. | `true` |
| `checkDkim` | `boolean` | No | Look up 10 common DKIM selectors (google, selector1, s1, k1...). Adds a few DNS queries per domain. | `true` |
| `maxConcurrency` | `integer` | No | How many domains to check at once. | `8` |

#### Quick start

1. Click **Try for free**.
2. Press **Start**. The sample input finishes in well under a minute with no keys or accounts.
3. Replace the sample with your own list and run again.
4. Download the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON, or pull it from the API.

### Pricing

Pay per result, no subscription. **Launch Sale: 90% OFF for the first week!**

- `domain-enriched`: **$0.002** (domain enriched, $2 per 1,000). One domain that returned RDAP or DNS data. Invalid and non-existent domains are free.
- For comparison: $0.005-0.02 per domain on WHOIS/DNS APIs.
- Set a max cost per run in the run options and the run stops cleanly when it hits it.
- Normal Apify platform usage (compute, optional proxy) applies.

### Limits and honest notes

- A few ccTLDs have no public RDAP server; you still get DNS, email and SSL data and `rdap_error: tld_has_no_rdap`.
- Registrant details are usually redacted for privacy (GDPR); we flag `registrant_redacted` instead of guessing.
- DKIM is probed on common selectors only; custom selectors cannot be discovered from DNS.
- All collection is done by this Actor itself over public sources; it never calls other paid Actors.

### Code and API

Same input as the Console sample:

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "stripe.com",
    "python.org",
    "apify.com"
  ]
}
```

```sh
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/physealabs~domain-whois-dns-enricher/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d @input.json
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
items = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN").actor("physealabs/domain-whois-dns-enricher").call(run_input={"domains": ["stripe.com", "python.org", "apify.com"]})
```

It also works from Zapier, Make, n8n and Apify schedules.
