## Pricing

from $500.00 / 1,000 profile founds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## People Finder: Professionals by Role, Skill & City

Find professionals by what they do and where they are. Type a role, skill or topic and a city, and get matching people from public developer, research and reference sources, merged into one profile each.

### Quick start

Press **Start**. The sample finds 5 machine learning people in London with social links and skills. Raise *Max profiles* to 200 for a full list.

### What you get

- Name, public handle, role, organisation, location, stated expertise and best profile link
- The search that found them and when
- Optional extras, $0.01 each and only when found: social links, website, activity numbers (followers, repos, citations, h-index), publications, skills, short bio

### Good for

- Sourcing engineers or researchers in a city
- Finding speakers or experts on a niche topic
- Building a list of practitioners for user interviews

### Pricing

- $0.05 per profile returned
- $0.01 per extra field, billed only when we find it for that person
- 20 profiles with two extras cost at most $1.40

You pay only for results that come back. Set a max cost per run in the run options and the run stops cleanly
when it hits it. Normal Apify platform usage applies.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `keywords` | What the people do or know: data engineer, climate policy, computer vision. One per line. |
| `location` | City or country. Leave blank for worldwide. |
| `maxProfiles` | $0.05 per profile returned. You are never billed for more than this number. |
| `extraFeatures` | Pick what to add to each profile. Billed only for fields we actually find for that person. |
| `language` | For engineers: keep people whose public code is mostly in this language. |
| `webSearch` | Helps fill social and profile links. Turn off for faster runs. |
| `githubToken` | Speeds up big searches for engineers. Stored encrypted. |

### Limits

- Public professional information only. We never collect personal emails, phone numbers or anything behind a login.
- Sources: public code hosting profiles, OpenAlex, ORCID, Wikidata and the open web. People with little public footprint won't show up.
- Follow your local data-protection rules when contacting anyone you find.

### Run it from code

Same input as the Console sample:

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "machine learning"
  ],
  "location": "London",
  "maxProfiles": 5,
  "extraFeatures": [
    "social_links",
    "topics_and_skills"
  ]
}
```

```sh
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/physealabs~people-finder/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d @input.json
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
items = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN").actor("physealabs/people-finder").call(run_input={"keywords": ["machine learning"], "location": "London", "maxProfiles": 5, "extraFeatures": ["social_links", "topics_and_skills"]})
```

It also works from Zapier, Make, n8n and Apify schedules.

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
