## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## SEC Financial Data by Ticker: 10-K Facts & Restatements

Type a few tickers or company names and get their reported financials straight from SEC filings: revenue, net income, assets, cash, EPS. Every number carries its period, the filing it came from, and a flag when a later filing changed it.

### Quick start

Press **Start**. The sample pulls revenue, net income and total assets for Apple, Microsoft and NVIDIA, annual figures only, in under a minute. Swap in your own tickers, or set *Also add the N largest US filers* to 50 and skip typing altogether.

### What you get

- One row per reported figure: company, line item, value, unit, period start and end, period length in days
- An annual or quarterly flag worked out from the dates, not the filing label (10-Ks carry quarterly comparatives too)
- `reported_in_filings`: every filing that reported the same figure, so restatements jump out (`restatement_candidate: true`)
- Form type, filing date, accession number and a link to the filing on sec.gov
- A status row for each company and line item, including `not_reported` and `not_found`, so gaps are never silent

### Good for

- Ten years of revenue and profit for a watchlist, ready for a spreadsheet
- Spotting companies that quietly restated past numbers
- Feeding fundamentals into a model or dashboard without paying for a data terminal
- Quick comps across a sector: list the tickers, pick the line items, done

### Pricing

- $0.05 per company that returns data
- $0.002 per figure delivered
- A typical run (3 companies, 3 line items, annual only) costs about $0.40

You pay only for results that come back. Set a max cost per run in the run options and the run stops cleanly
when it hits it. Normal Apify platform usage applies.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `companies` | Type tickers or company names, one per line: AAPL, Microsoft, nvidia. No CIK lookup needed. We match them against SEC's own ticker list. |
| `topCompanies` | Pull the biggest companies on SEC's ticker list without typing them. 50 gives you roughly the S\&P top 50. Leave at 0 to use only your list. |
| `concepts` | US GAAP tags. Leave empty for the standard set: revenue, net income, operating income, assets, liabilities, equity, cash and diluted EPS. |
| `annualOnly` | Keep full-year numbers and drop the quarterly comparatives that 10-Ks also carry. |
| `forms` | Which filings to read. Add 10-Q for quarterly reports. |
| `ciks` | Only if you already have SEC Central Index Keys. Most people can skip this. |
| `userAgent` | SEC asks for a name and email on every request. Leave blank and we send ours. |

### Limits

- US SEC filers only. Line items use US GAAP tag names; leave the field empty for a standard set of nine.
- Ticker and name matching uses SEC's own ticker list. Very old or delisted names may need the CIK.
- We stay under SEC's 10 requests per second rule, so 100 companies by 9 line items takes a few minutes.
- Numbers are as filed. Not investment advice.

### Run it from code

Same input as the Console sample:

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "AAPL",
    "MSFT",
    "NVDA"
  ],
  "concepts": [
    "RevenueFromContractWithCustomerExcludingAssessedTax",
    "NetIncomeLoss",
    "Assets"
  ],
  "annualOnly": true
}
```

```sh
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/physealabs~sec-edgar-financial-facts/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d @input.json
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
items = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN").actor("physealabs/sec-edgar-financial-facts").call(run_input={"companies": ["AAPL", "MSFT", "NVDA"], "concepts": ["RevenueFromContractWithCustomerExcludingAssessedTax", "NetIncomeLoss", "Assets"], "annualOnly": true})
```

It also works from Zapier, Make, n8n and Apify schedules.
