## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## YC Startup Directory Scraper: Batches, Founders & Hiring

> 🔥 **Launch Sale: 90% OFF for the first week!** Every price below is already the regular, below-market rate, and launch week takes 90% off on top.

Export Y Combinator startups by batch (W24, S25...), industry, region, team size, status and hiring flag, with one-liner, website, tags and location. Optionally enrich with founders (LinkedIn/X), open jobs, socials and founding year. No login, no API key.

### What can YC Startup Directory Scraper do?

Pick batches and filters. We read the public YC directory (via the daily-refreshed yc-oss mirror), filter by industry, tags, region, status, team size and hiring flag, then optionally open each company's public ycombinator.com page to add founders, open jobs and socials.

| What you get | Features |
|---|---|
| 🚀 Every YC company: batch, one-liner, website, tags, location | 🗂️ Filter by batch, industry, tag, region, status, size |
| 👩‍💻 Founders with title, LinkedIn and X | 📅 Batch input in any style: W24, Winter 2024, winter-2024 |
| 💼 Open YC jobs with salary/equity ranges | ⚡ Static JSON source: 5,000+ companies in seconds |
| 🟢 Hiring flag, team size, stage, top-company flag | 📤 CSV, Excel, JSON, API, Zapier, Make, n8n |

### Who this is for

- Founders and sales teams selling to fresh YC batches
- Investors and scouts tracking new cohorts

| `industries` | `array` | No | B2B, Fintech, Healthcare, Consumer, Industrials, Education... Matches industry and sub-industry. | `["B2B"]` |
| `tags` | `array` | No | Generative AI, Developer Tools, SaaS, Robotics... | `—` |
| `regions` | `array` | No | United States of America, Europe, Remote, San Francisco, India... | `—` |

| `maxItems` | `integer` | No | Cap on rows (and cost). Largest teams and YC top companies come first. | `10` |

#### Quick start

1. Click **Try for free**.
2. Press **Start**. The sample input finishes in well under a minute with no keys or accounts.
3. Replace the sample with your own list and run again.
4. Download the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON, or pull it from the API.

### Pricing

Pay per result, no subscription. **Launch Sale: 90% OFF for the first week!**

- `startup-scraped`: **$0.001** (startup delivered, $1 per 1,000). One startup row from the directory after your filters.
- `startup-enriched`: **$0.002** (startup enriched, $2 per 1,000). Founders, open jobs and socials added from the company's public YC page. Only charged when enrichment is on and the page returned data.
- For comparison: $0.003-0.01 per company on YC directory scrapers.
- Set a max cost per run in the run options and the run stops cleanly when it hits it.
- Normal Apify platform usage (compute, optional proxy) applies.

### Limits and honest notes

- Directory data comes from the public yc-oss mirror of the YC directory, refreshed daily; brand-new edits can lag by a day.
- Founder emails are not collected. Only public profile links shown on YC pages.
- Enrichment reads one public page per company, so 500 enriched companies take a few minutes.
- All collection is done by this Actor itself over public sources; it never calls other paid Actors.

### Code and API

Same input as the Console sample:

```json
{
  "batches": [
    "W24"
  ],
  "industries": [
    "B2B"
  ],
  "hiringOnly": true,
  "enrichFromYcPage": true,
  "maxItems": 10
}
```

```sh
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/physealabs~yc-startup-directory-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d @input.json
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
items = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN").actor("physealabs/yc-startup-directory-scraper").call(run_input={"batches": ["W24"], "industries": ["B2B"], "hiringOnly": true, "enrichFromYcPage": true, "maxItems": 10})
```

It also works from Zapier, Make, n8n and Apify schedules.
