## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### 🛒 ALDI Product Scraper

Scrape the **ALDI Australia catalogue and Special Buys** from aldi.com.au without an account. The **ALDI Product Scraper** returns each product's price, unit price, size, on-sale date, offer shelf and category, and can download every product ALDI lists. Use it as an ALDI API alternative or a source for grocery price comparison.

### 🎯 Use Cases

- Download the full ALDI Australia catalogue with prices as JSON, CSV or Excel
- List ALDI Special Buys with their on-sale dates before they reach stores
- Follow the Lower Prices, Super Savers and Limited Time Only shelves
- Compare ALDI prices with Coles and Woolworths using the sister actors
- Keep an ALDI price list up to date with a weekly schedule

### ✨ Features

- **The whole catalogue**: over 3,000 products in one run
- **Special Buys with dates**: `offerText` shows "On Sale Wed 04 Nov", and products not on sale yet are marked unavailable
- **Offer shelves on every row**: whichever search finds a product, it says whether it is on Lower Prices, Super Savers or Limited Time Only
- **Your sort and brand filter kept**: paste a search or category URL with them
- **One row shape across shops**: Coles, Woolworths and ALDI actors share the same field names, so their output can go in one table
- **Fair billing**: each product is charged once per run, and rows without a price are never charged

### 🛠️ How It Works

1. **Enter keywords or paste URLs** from aldi.com.au. Clear the keywords and tick **Whole catalogue** for everything ALDI lists, or tick **Specials only** for its offers.
2. **Set the limit**: how many products for each keyword or URL. The default is 50.
3. **Run the Scraper** and download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull them through the API.

### ⚙️ Input

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Search keywords** | Products to search, one per line. |
| **Category, specials or search URLs** | Pages from aldi.com.au. |
| **Specials only** | Keep only products on special. With no keywords or URLs, returns everything on special. |
| **Whole catalogue** | Also get every product ALDI lists. Raise the limit to match. |
| **Max products per search** | Stop after this many products for each keyword or URL. Default 50. |

```json
{
    "queries": [
        "chocolate"
    ],
    "categoryUrls": [
        "https://www.aldi.com.au/products/dairy-eggs-fridge/k/960000000"
    ],
    "maxItems": 200
}
```

A product found by two of your searches is saved and charged once, under the first search that found it. With an empty input the actor searches for "milk".

### 💰 Pricing

You pay per product saved, plus a small fee for each run.

| Event | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Product | $0.001 |
| Actor start (`apify-actor-start`) | $0.00005 |

- 50 products: $0.05005
- 1,000 products: $1.00005
- 5,000 products: $5.00005

Set a maximum charge on a run and it stops there. Only the rows you received are charged.

### 📦 Sample Output Data

```json
{
    "id": "000000000000199822",
    "retailer": "ALDI",
    "name": "Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml",
    "brand": "OH SO NATURAL ORGANIC",
    "url": "https://www.aldi.com.au/product/oh-so-natural-organic-organic-extra-virgin-olive-oil-500ml-000000000000199822",
    "image": "https://dm.apac.cms.aldi.cx/is/image/aldiprodapac/product/jpg/scaleWidth/500/ce18a1c2-0a82-4534-88d3-a83ebab3db92/oh-so-natural-organic-organic-extra-virgin-olive-oil-500ml",
    "price": 7.99,
    "wasPrice": null,
    "currency": "AUD",
    "unitPrice": 1.6,
    "unit": "100 ml",
    "size": "500 ml",
    "onSpecial": true,
    "offerText": "Lower Prices",
    "available": true,
    "category": "Pantry > Oils & Vinegars",
    "barcode": null,
    "store": "national",
    "source": "all specials",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-11-01T08:08:24.562Z"
}
```

`unitPrice` and `unit` are the shop's comparison price, such as $1.65 per 1L. `source` is the keyword or URL that found the product. `wasPrice` and `barcode` are always empty: ALDI shows neither. `brand` is empty for some fresh products, and `size` and the unit price are empty for about one product in five and `category` for about one in eight, where ALDI does not state them.

### 📅 ALDI Catalogue and ALDI Special Buys

New Special Buys go on sale on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so run it weekly to keep an ALDI price list or twice a week to catch every Special Buy. Set it up with Apify **Schedules**, then send each run's rows to Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or your own webhook through the Apify integrations.

### 🤖 Use with AI agents (MCP)

This actor works as a tool in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients through the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`). A minimal input an agent can copy:

```json
{ "queries": ["milk"], "maxItems": 20 }
```

### ❓ FAQ

**Does ALDI have an official API?**
ALDI Australia does not offer a public self-serve product API, as far as we can tell. This actor is the practical alternative: no key, no approval, and the catalogue comes as ready rows.

**Do I need a ALDI account?**
No. The actor reads what any visitor sees, with no login.

**Which store are the prices from?**
ALDI shows one catalogue for the whole country when no store is selected, and that is what the actor returns (`store` is `national`). In our checks prices matched in four regions, with one difference at one store, so store selection is not offered.

**Why is a field empty?**
`wasPrice` and `barcode` are always empty: ALDI shows neither. `brand` is empty for some fresh products, and `size` and the unit price are empty for about one product in five and `category` for about one in eight, where ALDI does not state them.

**Are there limits?**
ALDI sells in store only, so `available` cannot tell you about shelf stock: it says the product is listed and its on-sale date has passed.

**What counts as on special at ALDI?**
ALDI does not print was prices. `onSpecial` is true for products on its Lower Prices, Super Savers and Limited Time Only shelves and for Special Buys with an on-sale date, and `offerText` says which.
