## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### 🚀 Instagram Post Scraper

Scrape **any public Instagram post or reel by URL**. The **Instagram Post Scraper** returns the caption, hashtags and mentions, like and comment counts, post date, full-size image and video links, every carousel item, tagged users, co-authors, location and audio. Paste as many links as you like; no Instagram account is needed. Use it for influencer and campaign reporting, brand monitoring, UGC collection, content research or dataset building.

### ✨ Features

- 📝 **Full Post Data**: Caption, hashtags, mentions, likes, comment count, date (ISO and Unix), post type (image, video, carousel) and reel flag.
- 🖼️ **Media Links**: Full-size image URL, thumbnail, video URL for reels and videos, width and height.
- 🎠 **Carousel Items**: Every slide of a carousel with its own image or video link and tagged users.
- 👥 **People**: Author (username, name, ID, verified badge, avatar), co-authors of collab posts and tagged users.
- 📍 **Location & Audio**: Location name and coordinates; song title and artist or original audio.
- 🤝 **Flags**: Paid partnership, comments disabled, hidden like counts.
- 📦 **Bulk**: Many post and reel links per run.

### 🛠️ How It Works

1. **Paste post or reel URLs** – `instagram.com/p/…`, `/reel/…` or bare shortcodes, one per line.
2. **Set the limit** – the default is 50 posts per run.
3. **Run the Scraper** – download the posts as JSON, CSV or Excel or pull them through the API.

### ⚙️ Input

| Field                  | What it does                                                        |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Post or reel URLs** | Instagram post or reel links (or shortcodes), one per line. |
| **Max posts** | Stop after this many posts. Default 50. |

```json
    "posts": ["https://www.instagram.com/p/DeTUk4sDSp-/", "https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dehl7Xohfah/"],
    "maxItems": 50
}
```

### 💰 Pricing

Pay only for the posts you get. No monthly rental.

| Event           | Price                                   | What you get                                   |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Post** | $0.0015 per post ($1.50 per 1,000) | One post or reel with all fields below |
| **Actor start** | $0.00005 per run | Charged once when the run starts. |

Examples: 100 posts = $0.15 · 1,000 posts = $1.50. Posts that are private, removed or not found are listed in the run's status message and not charged.

### ❓ FAQ

**Do I need an Instagram account or cookies?** No. Only public posts are available.

**Are video view or play counts included?** No. Instagram does not show them to visitors who are not logged in.

**How long do the image and video links work?** Instagram's media links expire after a few days, so download the files you need soon after the run.

**What about private or deleted posts?** They are named in the run's status message and not charged.
