## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### 🚀 Snapchat Spotlight Scraper

Easily extract Snapchat Spotlight videos without an account. The **Snapchat Spotlight Scraper** collects the Spotlight videos for any hashtag, any list of video URLs, or any creator, and returns each video's views, shares, comment count, top comments, caption, hashtags, sound, spoken-word transcript and direct MP4 link, ready as JSON, CSV or Excel.

### ✨ Features

- \#️⃣ **Hashtag discovery**: enter `basketball` or `#skincare` and get the Spotlight videos Snapchat shows for that hashtag.
- 🔗 **Video tracking**: paste Spotlight video URLs to record their current views, shares and comments, ideal for scheduled runs that track performance over time.
- 👤 **Creator videos**: add a handle and get the creator's most recent Spotlight videos.
- 📈 **Engagement data**: views, shares and total comment count per video, plus the top comments with author, date, likes and reply count.
- 🗣️ **Transcripts**: the spoken words of each video as plain text, whenever Snapchat provides them.
- 🎬 **Media & metadata**: direct MP4 and thumbnail URLs, caption, hashtags, sound, duration, resolution, upload date and Snapchat's descriptive video title.
- 🧹 **No duplicates**: a video found through several hashtags, URLs or creators is saved and charged once.
- ⚡ **No login, no browser**: fast and light.

### 🛠️ How It Works

1. **Add hashtags, video URLs or creators** – any mix, one per line. Hashtags work with or without `#`; creators as `nba`, `@nba` or a profile URL.
2. **Set Max videos** – the cap for the whole run (default 50). Videos are taken from your hashtags, URLs and creators in turn, so a single hashtag can't use up the whole limit.
3. **Run the scraper** – one row per video lands in the dataset, ready to download or to fetch via API, webhook or a scheduled run.

### 📥 Input

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `hashtags` | Hashtags, e.g. `basketball`, `#skincare` or `https://www.snapchat.com/tag/basketball`. |
| `videoUrls` | Spotlight video URLs, e.g. `https://www.snapchat.com/spotlight/W7_EDlX…`. |
| `usernames` | Creators: `nba`, `@nba` or `https://www.snapchat.com/@nba`. |
| `maxItems` | Maximum videos across the whole run (default 50, `0` = no limit). |

```json
{
    "hashtags": ["basketball", "skincare"],
    "usernames": ["nba"],
    "maxItems": 100
}
```

### 💵 Pricing

Pay only for the videos you get, with no monthly fee:

| Event | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Video | $0.001 per video ($1 per 1,000) |
| Actor start | $0.00005 per run (per GB of memory) |

A hashtag's full set of videos (about 32) costs about $0.03; tracking 500 video URLs costs about $0.50 per run. Comments, transcripts and media links are included in the video price.

### 📊 Sample Output Data

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `views`, `shares`, `commentCount` | Engagement at the time of the run. `commentCount` is the total; `comments` holds the top ~25. |
| `title` / `aiTitle` | The creator's title (often empty) and Snapchat's descriptive title for the video. |
| `description`, `hashtags`, `sound` | Caption, hashtags without `#`, and the sound used. |
| `transcript` | Spoken words as text, when Snapchat provides them (otherwise `null`). |
| `videoUrl`, `thumbnail` | Direct media links. They are signed and expire after a while, so download what you need soon after the run. |
| `creatorFollowers` | `null` when the creator hides it. |
| `source`, `sourceQuery` | How the video was found: `hashtag`, `url` or `profile`, and which hashtag or creator. |

### 💡 Good to Know

- **Snapchat shows about 32 videos per hashtag and about 30 per creator.** For more videos on a topic, add related hashtags. The run's status message tells you when it stopped because the hashtags and creators ran out rather than at your limit.
- **Some videos are not available on the web.** Roughly 1 in 5 hashtag videos can't be opened on snapchat.com (removed, private or app-only). They are skipped and **not charged**, and the status message reports how many.
- **Tracking performance:** save your video URLs in a task and schedule it daily; each run records fresh view, share and comment counts with a `scrapedAt` timestamp.
