## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### 🌴 Welcome to the Jungle Companies Scraper

**Welcome to the Jungle Companies Scraper** extracts company profiles from **[Welcome to the Jungle](https://www.welcometothejungle.com/)** (WTTJ), the employer-branding and job site used by more than 10,000 startups, scale-ups and large employers in France, Europe and the US. No login and no API key needed. Search by keyword, country, sector, company size or tech stack, or paste a WTTJ company search or company page URL. You get clean JSON with **company website, employee count, open jobs, sectors, headquarters address, all offices with GPS, tech stack, labels and the French gender equality index**, and optionally each company's newest open jobs.

Run it on the **[Apify platform](https://apify.com/)** to get scheduling, an API, webhooks and exports to Google Sheets, Excel or CSV.

### ✨ Features

- 🏢 **Company firmographics.** Website, employee count and size range, sectors, description, labels (B Corp, Great Place to Work, ...) and profile dates.
- 📍 **Offices.** Headquarters and every office with street address, ZIP code, city, country and GPS coordinates.
- 🧰 **Tech stack.** The tools companies list on their tech page (Python, React, Kubernetes, Datadog, Figma, Notion, ...), filterable.
- 📈 **Hiring signal.** Number of open jobs per company, an **Only companies with open jobs** filter, and up to 100 of each company's newest open jobs.
- ⚖️ **Gender equality index.** The French "index égalité" score and year where the company publishes one.
- 📦 **No 1,000-result cap.** WTTJ search stops at 1,000 results. The Actor splits large searches automatically, and each company appears once.

### 💡 Use cases

- **B2B lead generation.** Build lists of startups and scale-ups by country, sector, size and tech stack, with websites.
- **Sales intelligence.** Find companies that are hiring right now, and what for.
- **Tech stack prospecting.** Find every company that uses Kubernetes, Salesforce or HubSpot.
- **Market maps.** Map the French tech ecosystem by sector and size.
- **Recruiting and employer research.** Compare employers by size, offices, labels and equality index.

### 🛠️ How to use

1. **Type keywords** (for example `fintech`) and pick filters, or paste a WTTJ company search URL or company pages.
2. **Set Max companies.** The default is 50. Use 0 for every match.
3. **(Optional) Set Open jobs per company** to list each company's newest jobs.
4. **Run** the Actor, then export the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the API.

With empty input the Actor returns 50 companies, those with the most open jobs first.

### 💰 How much does it cost to scrape Welcome to the Jungle companies?

The Actor uses pay-per-event pricing, so you pay only for the companies you get:

| Event | Price | When it's charged |
| ----------- | ------------------------- | ----------------------- |
| Actor start | **$0.00005** | Once per run |
| Company | **$0.002** ($2 per 1,000) | For every saved company |

For example, 1,000 company profiles cost about **$2.00**, open job lists included. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify, and the Actor stops when it reaches that cost.

### ⚙️ Tips

- **Hiring companies first:** without keywords, companies come roughly in order of open jobs, so a small `maxItems` gives you the most active employers.
- **Job details:** for full job descriptions, salaries and apply links, use the companion **Welcome to the Jungle Jobs Scraper** with the `companies` filter.
- **Tech stack names** follow the site's spelling (`React JS`, `Google Cloud Platform`, `GitLab CI`); matching ignores upper/lower case.

### ❓ FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape Welcome to the Jungle?**
The Actor collects only publicly visible company profile information. You are responsible for using the data lawfully and for respecting the site's terms.

**Do I need a proxy or a WTTJ account?**
No. No login, cookies or proxy are needed.

**Is there a result limit?**
No. `maxItems` and your maximum cost per run are the only limits. A small number of listings that have neither open jobs nor an employee count can be out of reach in very large runs; the run's status message says so when it happens.

**Why did a run return fewer companies than matches?**
The site's search counts a company once per partner job board it appears on, and the Actor saves each company once. Companies whose public profile is offline are skipped and not charged.
