## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### 🛒 Woolworths Product Scraper

Scrape **Woolworths specials and product prices with barcodes** from woolworths.com.au without an account. The **Woolworths Product Scraper** returns each product's price, was price, unit price, barcode, size, offer text, availability and category. Use it as a Woolworths price tracker, a Woolworths API alternative or a source for grocery price comparison.

### 🎯 Use Cases

- Pull Woolworths specials this week as a clean table instead of reading the catalogue
- Run a Woolworths price tracker on your basket with a daily schedule
- Match products across shops and databases by barcode (GTIN)
- Compare Woolworths vs Coles prices on the same keywords with the sister actor
- Follow half-price and multi-buy offers by category or brand

### ✨ Features

- **Barcodes**: the GTIN of each product, ready for matching against other sources
- **All Woolworths specials**: tick Specials only with no keywords and the run walks every department except the third-party Everyday Market and Healthylife ones, whose products can still appear under other departments
- **Deep results**: searches and categories page to the end, with repeats removed
- **Your sort and brand filter kept**: paste a search or category URL with them
- **One row shape across shops**: Coles, Woolworths and ALDI actors share the same field names, so their output can go in one table
- **Fair billing**: each product is charged once per run, and rows without a price are never charged

### 🛠️ How It Works

1. **Enter keywords or paste URLs** from woolworths.com.au. Clear the keywords and tick **Specials only** to get everything on special.
2. **Set the limit**: how many products for each keyword or URL. The default is 50.
3. **Run the Scraper** and download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull them through the API.

### ⚙️ Input

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Search keywords** | Products to search, one per line. |
| **Category, specials or search URLs** | Pages from woolworths.com.au. |
| **Specials only** | Keep only products on special. With no keywords or URLs, returns everything on special. |
| **Max products per search** | Stop after this many products for each keyword or URL. Default 50. |

```json
{
    "queries": [
        "milk",
        "bread"
    ],
    "categoryUrls": [
        "https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/browse/dairy-eggs-fridge/milk"
    ],
    "specialsOnly": true,
    "maxItems": 200
}
```

A product found by two of your searches is saved and charged once, under the first search that found it. With an empty input the actor searches for "milk".

### 💰 Pricing

You pay per product saved, plus a small fee for each run.

| Event | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Product | $0.001 |
| Actor start (`apify-actor-start`) | $0.00005 |

- 50 products: $0.05005
- 1,000 products: $1.00005
- 5,000 products: $5.00005

Set a maximum charge on a run and it stops there. Only the rows you received are charged.

### 📦 Sample Output Data

```json
{
    "id": "348593",
    "retailer": "Woolworths",
    "name": "KitKat Milk Chocolate Mini Bars",
    "brand": "KitKat",
    "url": "https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/348593/kitkat-milk-chocolate-mini-bars",
    "image": "https://cdn1.woolworths.media/content/wowproductimages/large/348593.jpg",
    "price": 3.75,
    "wasPrice": 7.5,
    "currency": "AUD",
    "unitPrice": 2.44,
    "unit": "100G",
    "size": "154g 11 pack",
    "onSpecial": true,
    "offerText": "Save $3.75",
    "available": true,
    "category": "Halloween > Buckets & Treats > Share Packs",
    "barcode": "9300605152397",
    "store": "1101",
    "source": "all specials",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-11-01T08:13:44.199Z"
}
```

`unitPrice` and `unit` are the shop's comparison price, such as $1.65 per 1L. `source` is the keyword or URL that found the product. `wasPrice` and `offerText` are empty when a product is not on special. `barcode`, `size` and the unit price are often empty on third-party Everyday Market products, which appear in search results. Products Woolworths shows without a price, usually because they are out of stock, are skipped and not charged.

### 📅 Woolworths Price Tracker and Woolworths Specials

Woolworths specials change every Wednesday, so a weekly Wednesday run is the usual price tracker; run daily if you follow price moves closely. Set it up with Apify **Schedules**, then send each run's rows to Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n or your own webhook through the Apify integrations.

### 🤖 Use with AI agents (MCP)

This actor works as a tool in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients through the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`). A minimal input an agent can copy:

```json
{ "queries": ["milk"], "maxItems": 20 }
```

### ❓ FAQ

**Does Woolworths have an official API?**
Woolworths does not offer a public self-serve API for shelf prices, as far as we can tell. This actor is the practical alternative: no key, no approval, and you get the shelf price, offer, unit price and barcode in one row.

**Do I need a Woolworths account?**
No. The actor reads what any visitor sees, with no login.

**Which store are the prices from?**
Prices are the ones woolworths.com.au shows a visitor with no store selected, and each row names the fulfilment store in `store` (`1100` or `1101` in our checks). Choosing another store is not offered.

**Why is a field empty?**
`wasPrice` and `offerText` are empty when a product is not on special. `barcode`, `size` and the unit price are often empty on third-party Everyday Market products, which appear in search results. Products Woolworths shows without a price, usually because they are out of stock, are skipped and not charged.

**Are there limits?**
Category paths are checked against the shop's own category list; a wrong name stops with the list of valid ones. From a pasted URL the actor reads the search term, sort, brand filter and page. Other filters may not apply, so check the first rows when you use them.

**How do I get all Woolworths specials this week?**
Clear the keywords, tick **Specials only** and raise the limit. The run walks every department except the third-party Everyday Market and Healthylife ones and keeps only the products marked on special. Expect around 10,000 products; some third-party products still appear under other departments.
