## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### 🚀 YouTube Video Details Scraper: Views, Likes, Tags and Chapters

Get the full details of any YouTube video from its URL or ID: **exact view count, exact like count, comment count, publish date, duration, tags, hashtags, chapters, full description, caption languages, available qualities and channel info**. The **YouTube Video Details Scraper** takes video lists in bulk and returns one clean row per video. Use it as a YouTube tag extractor, a bulk YouTube view count checker or a simple alternative to the YouTube Data API.

### 🎯 Use Cases

- **YouTube tag extractor**: pull the hidden tags (keywords) of competitor videos for your own SEO.
- **Bulk YouTube view count and likes count check**: track views, likes and comments for a list of videos every day.
- **YouTube video statistics for reports**: export views, likes, comments, duration and publish date for campaign or sponsor reporting.
- **YouTube chapters export**: get the chapter titles and start times of long videos, ready for summaries or show notes.
- **Video metadata for datasets and AI**: titles, full descriptions, tags, caption languages and channel data in one table.

### ✨ Features

- **Exact counts**: views and likes as exact numbers; comment count as YouTube shows it.
- **Publish date and length**: ISO publish date, duration in seconds and as `h:mm:ss`.
- **Tags and hashtags**: the video's tags (keywords) and the hashtags from its title and description.
- **Chapters**: title, start time and start second of every chapter.
- **Full description** with all links.
- **Captions and qualities**: which caption languages exist (manual or auto-generated) and which resolutions are available (2160p…144p).
- **Channel data**: name, @handle, ID, URL, subscriber count and verified badge, plus all collaborators on collab videos.
- **Any video link**: watch URLs, youtu.be links, Shorts, live URLs or bare 11-character IDs. The same video entered twice is scraped and charged once.

### 🛠️ How It Works

1. **Paste videos**: URLs or IDs, one per line.
2. **Set Max videos** if you want to stop early: the default is 50.
3. **Run the scraper** and download the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull them through the API.

### ⚙️ Input

| Field                  | What it does                                                                    |

}
```
### 💰 Pricing
| Event           | Price                                | What you get                                    |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **Video**       | $0.001 per video ($1.00 per 1,000)   | One video with all fields below                 |
| **Actor start** | $0.00005 per run                     | Charged once when the run starts.               |
Examples: 3 videos = $0.003 · 1,000 videos = $1.00. Removed or private videos are listed in the run status and not charged.
### 📊 Sample Output Data
```json
{
    "videoId": "aircAruvnKk",
    "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aircAruvnKk",
    "title": "But what is a neural network? | Deep learning chapter 1",
    "description": "What are the neurons, why are there layers, and what is the math underlying it?…",
    "viewCount": 24914604,
    "likeCount": 567267,
    "commentCount": 9400,

    ],
    "isLive": false,

    "thumbnailUrl": "https://i.ytimg.com/vi_webp/aircAruvnKk/sddefault.webp",
    "availableQualities": ["1080p", "720p", "480p", "360p", "240p", "144p"],
    "captionLanguages": [
        { "code": "ar", "name": "Arabic", "isAutoGenerated": false },
        { "code": "bn", "name": "Bangla", "isAutoGenerated": false }
    ],
    "channelName": "3Blue1Brown",
    "channelId": "UCYO_jab_esuFRV4b17AJtAw",
    "channelHandle": "@3blue1brown",
    "channelUrl": "https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYO_jab_esuFRV4b17AJtAw",

    "channelIsVerified": true,
    "collaborators": [],
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-21T17:28:10.720Z"
}
```
`keywords` are the video's tags, which YouTube doesn't show on the page (this video has none; music videos often have 20+). `isLiveContent` is true for live streams and past streams, `isLive` only while a stream is live. `commentCount` is rounded above 1,000, as on YouTube. On collab videos `collaborators` lists every channel (name, ID, handle, subscribers), and the channel fields hold the uploader.
### 🔁 Schedule and Integrate
To track YouTube video statistics, run it **once a day** with the same video list: every run is a dated snapshot of views, likes and comments. Set it up in Apify **Schedules**. Send the results to **Google Sheets**, **Zapier**, **Make**, **n8n** or a webhook with Apify **integrations**.
### 🤖 Use with AI Agents (MCP)
This Actor works as a tool in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients through the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`). An agent can call it with:
```json
{ "videos": ["https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ"] }
```
### ❓ FAQ
**Does YouTube have an official API for video details?** Yes, the YouTube Data API returns video statistics, but it needs a Google Cloud project, an API key and a daily quota. It doesn't return chapters. This Actor needs no key and returns everything in one row per video.
**How do I extract the tags of a YouTube video?** Paste the video URL and read `keywords`. Many videos have no tags; then the list is empty.
**How do I check the view count and likes of many videos?** Paste all the URLs or IDs and run. `viewCount` and `likeCount` are exact numbers.
**Why are duration, tags and captions empty for some videos?** Age-restricted and members-only videos show their page (title, views, likes, date) to everyone but not their player data. Those rows keep the page fields, and `durationSeconds`, `keywords` and `captionLanguages` are empty.
**Why is there no category?** YouTube no longer shows a video's category to logged-out visitors, so it isn't part of the row.
**Do I need a YouTube account?** No.
