## Pricing

from $0.70 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC EDGAR Scraper

Get data from [SEC EDGAR](https://www.sec.gov/edgar), the US Securities and Exchange Commission's database of company filings, without an API key and without writing code. Three modes in one Actor:

- **Company filings.** Every filing of the companies you choose: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4 insider trades, S-1, proxy statements and more, with direct links to the documents. Back to the 1990s.
- **Full-text search.** Find filings that contain your words, across all companies, from 2001 on. Leave the words empty to get the latest filings of a form type, for example every new S-1 or 8-K.
- **Financials.** Revenue, gross profit, operating and net income, EPS, cash flow, assets, liabilities, equity, cash and debt per year or quarter, from the companies' XBRL data.

Use it for investment research, monitoring competitors and portfolio companies, finding IPOs and funding events, tracking insider trading, building financial datasets, and feeding filings to AI tools.

- **Official data.** Everything comes from the SEC's own public APIs, the same data that powers sec.gov.
- **Clean, flat records.** Tickers, CIK numbers, form types, dates, document links and 8-K item descriptions ("Results of Operations and Financial Condition") ready for spreadsheets.
- **Type a ticker, a CIK or a name.** AAPL, 320193 and "Apple" all work.
- **No API key, no login, no proxy.**
- **Low price.** $1 per 1,000 results.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per saved result: **$1.00 per 1,000 results**. A filing, a search result and a financial period each count as one result. There is no start fee and no monthly rental.

| Run | Results | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| The last 100 filings of a company | 100 | $0.10 |
| 1,000 search results | 1,000 | $1.00 |
| 10 years of quarterly financials for 20 companies | about 800 | about $0.80 |

Set a maximum charge per run in the run options and the Actor stops when it is reached.

### Limits you should know

- **Full-text search covers 2001 onward** and returns at most 10,000 documents per search, ordered by relevance. Narrow the dates or form types to get everything. When several documents of one filing match, the filing is saved once.
- **Financials come from XBRL**, which US companies have filed since about 2009 to 2011. Funds, foreign private issuers filing 20-F and many very small companies have little or no XBRL data.
- **Periods are calendar periods.** The SEC aligns each number to the nearest calendar quarter or year (`period`), so Apple's fiscal Q3 2026 appears as CY2026Q2. `fiscalYear` and `fiscalPeriod` are the fiscal year and period of the report the number was taken from, so they can be a year or two later than the period itself (the SEC uses the latest report that states the number).
- **Fourth quarters are often missing** in quarterly mode, because most companies report the fourth quarter only inside the annual report. Use annual minus the first three quarters.
- **A number is empty when the company does not report it** under the standard name, for example banks have no gross profit. Some companies use their own custom tags.
- **Companies without a ticker** (private funds, some subsidiaries) need their CIK number. You can find it on the company's EDGAR page.
- **Document links point to sec.gov.** The Actor does not download the documents themselves.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** Yes. EDGAR filings are public records published by the SEC, and the Actor uses the SEC's public APIs, identifies itself and stays below the SEC's fair access limit of 10 requests per second.

**Is this investment advice?** No. It only collects data the companies filed.

**Something is broken or missing?** Open a ticket in the Issues tab. Issues are usually answered within a day.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Company filings lists every filing of the companies you give. Full-text search finds filings that contain your words, or the latest filings of a form type when you leave the words empty. Financials returns income statement, balance sheet and cash flow numbers per year or quarter.

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Tickers (AAPL), CIK numbers (320193) or company names (Microsoft). Needed for company filings and financials. Optional in full-text search, where it limits the search to these companies.

## `formTypes` (type: `array`):

Optional. Keep only these forms, for example 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 4, S-1, DEF 14A, 13F-HR, SC 13G. Leave empty for all forms.

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Words to find inside filings. Put a phrase in double quotes for an exact match, for example "going concern" or "artificial intelligence". Leave empty to get the latest filings (of the chosen form types).

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

Optional. YYYY-MM-DD. Filing date for filings and search, period end date for financials.

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Optional. YYYY-MM-DD.

## `includeAmendments` (type: `boolean`):

With form types set, also keep their amendments (10-K/A for 10-K, and so on).

## `financialPeriod` (type: `string`):

For financials mode.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of results to save in this run. You are only charged for saved results.

## `maxItemsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Optional. Limits results for each company (newest first), so one company does not use up the whole run. In full-text search mode it limits the whole search.

}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
